SHARING Another Skin Care Tip OK Ladies - Just went to Walgreens - I've always wanted to TRY StriVectin SD ..priced at : $159.00 (6oz)  Here's what it is - http://www.strivectin.com/sd/index.php WALGREENS is selling PROvectin - the new Alternative at 29.00 for a six months supply. The woman in the pharmacy at Walgreens has known me for almost 10 years and this is the first time she has praised a Skin Product. She said - after 2 months - IF I didn't love it - bring it back - then she said I'd love it and don't bother saving my receipt lol She said her customers are raving about this face cream - The Good thing is you can use your own Moisturizer over it....just apply 2 times a day. |
Ps...While this product was originally marketed for stretch marks it has a DISCLAIMER ...do NOT use when pregnant or nursing. My friend uses the Strivectin and says it IS good - but of course not as good as Botox - which is what it claims. |
Do you know if the Provectin is the same strength as the Strivectin? Or is the Strivectin stuff a pharmacy strength and the Provectin like an over-the-counter brand? I'm all for trying something that has a chance of actually working. Should we try and let each other know the results? |
I forgot, you did buy it, right?:) |
It's the SAME thing - Both are Over the Counter - but the Strivectin is very expensive. After I spoke with the pharmicist in Walgreens - She said her customers are loving it and is using it herself. In all honesty - this is the first time she's ever told me to try something in her store. She raved about it. So I came home and read all about it on the net. I'm very picky about what I use on my face and have recently started really taking care of my skin - after years in the sun - I need to... but I do see a difference since I got serious. I did get some - so I'll let you know - it says use 3 times a day and you can use your regular skin moisturizer over it. Carolyn (Brutus Mama) had sent me her Arbonne RE9 Moisturizer & I love it - Thank you again Carolyn !! so I really AM a buttface now :p :p ... READ THIS to find out MORE about Skin Care - this is a really good thread LOL : http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...light=buttface Quote:

Do you know if Mays/Drug warehouse carries Provectin or others or is it only at Walgreen's now. I'll travel 30 miles if I have to, but 5 would be much better, thanks!! |

It's funny but sad how when we are young we don't think too much about what we are doing to our skin. And, trying to reverse the damage can be frustrating and hilarious at the same time. My husband and sons laugh at me and the things I've tried.:D :D I tell my sons young girlfriends, the most important thing you can do is wear sunscreen religiously if you don't want premature wrinkling, discoloration and more importantly to avoid skin cancer. I have a younger sister who was smart and started wearing sunscreen years ago, and her skin is beautiful now into her early forties. She lives in Texas, so you know the amount of sun her skin has been exposed to. I'm going to give the Provectin a try and I'll keep you posted on the progress (positive thinking):) |
I hear you !! I've always spent time on the beach - no sunscreen and even just the last few years - tanned dark ...and never paid any mind to what I was doing to my skin. I decided just recently to get serious - and so far I can really tell a difference with the products I'm using - NO MORE Neutragena and Loreal for me - those products are a waste of money - I have a bottle of Neutragena and ROC that I don't use if anyone wants them. They're just sitting in my cabinet. |
Wow thanks for this post. I am 31 now. I am 11 years younger than my husband and when I was younger people used to make comments to him like "Wow. Whose that...your younger sister." I still don't like that guy! So I used to think if I just had a wrinkle or two I'd be okay. Now I have crows feet that birds are envious of, and I don't want them. My friend got botox and I am jealous. I am always looking for something better. I am using Neutragena now but I want to try PROvectin. Thanks again for the post. |

I just emailed you - and like I said in my email - I'm NOT going down without a fight - anything I post here I HOPE will help the aging process. This Provectin is cheap compared to the big selling Strivectin so I'm hoping for good results. The claim is.... it's as close to Botox that we can get in a cream. I personally can't afford Botox...but would try it if I could that's for sure. |
I agree. I don't want to grow old gracefully. I don't want to grow old period. I am always teasing my husband about how we will both be toothless, bald and round one day. He says he doesn't mind as long as we do it together. (He's the greatest!) But I don't want to look old. |
I BOUGHT the STRY and used it proper and faithfully for months... It sucked.. no beter then $1 store hand lotion if you ask me. I think the only reason you see a difference when using it is that you use it so much that your face is always moisturized, which in turn makes your face look not so sucked up and frazzled. I'm telling you guys... :thumbdown . As soon as you wash your face and make it squeaky clean you are back to the prune look... even after continued use!!!!! |
Wow that's too bad. I'm really impressed with what I'm doing now and combined retin A with a good moisturizer has helped alot...The Walgreens lady said this is better and faster than Retin A ...but I'm going to use both and see what happens. So far I like it - and I like it even better knowing I only paid 29.00 NOT 150.00 :D |
Yorkieangel, I believe you, I really do, but, you know I gotta try it. There has to be a better answer than needles and scalpels. I see infomercials on different things and am tempted, but I also try to realistic. For $29.00 I'm willing to roll the dice and gamble. "Com'n sevens.":D :D |

Should we start a thread on what we've used that hasn't worked so far. Sign me up for most of what Avon has to offer even their answer to laser, botox,(didn't work for me). I was prepared to try some stuff from HSN made with Lotus flowers, talked myself out of that one. I've used an OTC chemical peel, that has been Okay. Now, here is the good one, the face shocker, has anyone else tried it? :icon5: :lol tears |

Let me see...The products I used and would never buy again - Neutragena Healthy Skin ...ROC with Retin A (yeah right - like a millionth of a gram) and Loreal Wrinkle Defense...The only defense it provided was ME reaching into my wallet for a 2nd tube:( |
The face shocker, that's the one my husband and sons laugh the most at. And, I know why, your face looks and is very contorted while your doing this one. Surely you've seen the infomercials. The hand held device that emits low voltage electric shocks to certain muscles (instructions provided) in your face, thus exercising them and tightening the underlying muscle structure of your face, making you look years younger, and all for only 4 easy payments of $29.95. Now this one works somewhat, my face does feel tighter and sags a little less, but it takes alot of time, too much. :D :D |

That just sounds TOO electric for me .... but I loved the 4 easy payments comment...thing is ....THAT sounds painful too !:p :p I totally forgot to mention OLAY Products :thumbdown - WHAT HYPE ! they sure got the market on Advertising don't they ? Showing women under 35 claiming to have no wrinkles - Well - DUH !! Most people don't at that age. |
I've tried just about everything, i'm that gullible. Yeah, I didn't even start on the Olay products and others. I even saw a 20/20 show with a dermatologist/chemical engineers, etc. stating how all of the new, expensive creams are just hype and that anything you use to provide moisture and a barrier to keep the moisture in will provide some temporary results and improvement. Even lard!! Yikes. I could see my face breaking out now. Thats the beauty of this problem, fine lines and such, but still breakouts, its a helluva time. |
You're welcome Villette! I'm going to have to look into the other cream too! Thanks! |
