Someone stole our credit card info!!!!!! I am so angry right now! My husband went online to check our credit card account this am and found that someone had charged $1300 to our card for a trip on Expedia and THEY USED HIS NAME!!!! How does this happen! It is so infuriating! I think we are ok, since we caught it right away and won't be held accountable for the charges, but I am so Pi$$ed!! Has this happened to any of you or anyone you know? Other than the credit card company, expedia, and the hotel is there anyone else we should contact?? Thanks for listening to me vent!! |
That is so scary, hopefully you will get that all worked out! Something similar happened to me once but it ended up being something different. It happened with our bank debit card. We went to the ATM on Sat. night to get some money out of the bank and it wouldnt let us get any money out. And we knew that we had plenty of money in our acct. So we tried it again and this time it printed out a receipt saying that our checking acct was $3,200 in the hole! My husband freaked completely out. We knew that we had way more money in the bank and it wasnt close to being in the hole. So we thought that someone had stolen our number and charged a bunch of stuff. So when we got home we called the number on the back of the card and reported it stolen. So they cancelled the card. So on Sunday of course the banks arent open, so first thing Monday morning we went to the bank, and the said it was just an ATM error, that we had our money in the acct! Whew! We were so relieved but mad at the same time bc then we had to order new cards, LOL! |

Expedia should be able to get the email address of the person because they had to email them the confirmation & stuff. I think you SHOULD be able to find them. |

 I can relate, something similar happened to me a few months ago. I received a call from Amex to verify a charge. They wouldnt give me too much detail and this pissed me off to no end. All they gave me was the companies name, so I took it upon myself to do my own investigation and called the company which was trying to charge my card and found out that someone in INDIA was purchasing $900 worth of software using my cc #. I called Amex back with the proof and details of what had happened & they told me that this is happening a lot, people are buying credit card numbers and using them in this type of manor. They closed out that account number and reissued a new one. It is very scarey, that our info just floats out there and people get it and use it! I think you covered all the grounds of the people to contact! You should not be held accountable for these charges, the cc company should take care of it. Good luck :) |
My son and his wife had some real expensive art work charged to their credit card. They didn't know until the bill came. They contacted the credit card company and they took care of it. Of course, they had to cancel their credit cards and have new ones issued, but after that they didn't have any problems. |
Thank you all for sharing. I am starting to feel better. I think we have taken care of everything, I am just worried that this might happen again. We are getting new cards, but who knows what other info this person may have and can use! |
My fiance' has his credit card stolen and after I did some detective work we found out it was HIS BROTHER!!!! We called the credit card company and they said they would look into and we got a call back from them saying they couldn't verify that it was stolen and we were obligated to pay the money  I understand your frustration, and I am sorry that you are going through this. By the way his Mom didn't believe his brother did it and the police couldn't gather any proof that it was him. Although we figured it out because he got Tony's (fiance') social security number and called from our house to activate it. Luckily your cc company isn't idiots and will not hold you liable for the money. P.S. it was a $1,000 that his brother charged up at WALMART, he took the products and sold them for drugs. What a mess that whole situation was. |

Yes it was horrible the worst part about it is, I did most of the research and the cc company did NOTHING! We found out it was him because he went to a family owned restaraunt to eat and the owner recognized him, so when I called there after seeing it on the statement the owner said he was there. |
