Happy Aniversary. I know it's tough. My husband and I were both in the Navy. He gets out later this year. Most of our anniversaries have been spent apart. I think your husband is a great man for accepting your kids as his own, that has to be a big change from him from going from 0 to 4! My sister's husband did that with her son. I have always thought men who do that are super-sweet with big hearts. You're a lucky woman! All I can tell you is to keep positive and stay busy. I have survived 3 deployments. What I do is try to plan something big to look forward to every quarter or so of it. So that you can say, "Wow, in 2 weeks my friend is going to visit!" or "In 4 weeks I'm going to take the kids camping." This is SO MUCH better than thinking, "Oh my god, my husband isn't going to be back for 9 months! ARG!" The anniversaries and birthdays are always tough. Try to surround yourself with people and do something special anyways. Make a video or take some pictures for your husband. Put a care package together with some pictures of your wedding day. Just try to stay positive. My way of thinking was, "It could always be worse!" At least your husband is healthy and wanting to come home to you! At least you guys have a wonderful relationship that has made it another year! Another thing that helped me was trying to think that it could be worse because my husband was only out for 6 months, some people go out for 9 or even up to 2 years. I was always so thankful that he never left for that long. I considered myself blessed and told myself that other women have it alot worse than I did. I hope all of this helps! If you want to PM me! |
