Help I live next to a real Jerk

My boys just came in telling me the idiot I live next door to told them he will call the cops on them because the frisbee went on his lawn. I have had alot of problems with this guy and his wife. They are about 85 never had kids. Last time it was becuase of the basketball went on his lawn. Had a fight with his wife about that one when she called me stupid for having a BB net in my driveway. Then it was about my Rats going near MY fence. Or walking on the sidewalk, when I take them for a walk. Now the darn frisbee. I want to call the cops on him for harassment!!!!! My boys aren't causing any problems, they are playing in the street for God sake. Any advice on how to handle this jerk.... It's going to be a very LONG summer.

That's a tough one. You might try killing 'em with kindness. Either knock on their door and talk to them or send them a nice card saying you want to be friendly. Ask what procedure the kids should follow if the frisbee goes on their lawn. Ask what other problems they have. See if there's some middle ground.

If they still act mean, try arson.

Tell them it's time they left to go to the happyhome where NO kids or animals will bother them! I'm in the same position... my neighbours are 87 and 85, i knew this before we moved here, so i have been keeping my son and dogs really quiet and out of their way, last week i met the old man, he did not even know we had dogs and a child...

A few houses down, theres an old woman living by herself, she is ALWAYS on my son's back, telling him my big dog barks and it bothers her I told my son to tell her, next time he has to tell her to come and inform me about it (she's not been near me till now) she only "hears" the dog because she sees him walk the dog, she's just trying to cause trouble, i WISH she would come talk to me... i'm very ready for her!

I would try to be nice about it and like Mike's post ask what they would like but if that didn't work say I was thinking about selling up and a real nice family was interested but they are waiting for the dad coming out of prison before they decide !! Only joking but it might make them realise they could do a lot worse neighbours wise!!

Mike I like your Arson idea. I called my oh so mature husband at work he said for me to throw a rock through his front window and tell him now you have something to call the cops about.

I have tried to talk to this guy he's just an a**.

I like the prison idea too!

My middle son thinks he's a Nazi and I should call the war crimes people. 13 year olds go figure.

If you own your home, I would mabie suggest checking into a privacy fence, even if it meant getting a loan to get one. If they continued to bother you after that, I would try to ignore them, and if they simply wont let you ignore them lol. I would probably have to let'em have it! and say something like, "Boy for bieng 85 years old you still have alot of growing up to do, and your mothers must not have taught you any manners" JMO

Try and be friends with the wife.
Let her know when you are going to the store,
if she would like to go with you, or have you pick
something up for her. At their age it's a tuff one.
But if you shower the wife with kindness, it might
rub off on her husband. We had the same problem a
few years back. Next thing I knew she was baking
the kids cookies. They have both passed away, and
I do find myself missing them. Best of luck to ya!

I just tried to talk to him while he was out front. He told me to keep my kids under control that he'll just call the cops on them if their stuff goes on his property again9this includes the sidewalk) nor does he want them riding their bikes in front of his house (on the street) when I went to say something he turned and walked away.

He's a pussy cat compared to her.. She's the one I tried to talk to about them playing outside and called me STUPID. As to the fence, Already have one in the back. It's whenever they go in the front. Personally I wish he'd call the cops, I am friends with all of them, and really good friends with the mayor. Sometimes it helps to know people in high places.

Funny thing is Mellie goes nuts and barks and growls by the fence if they are out. She NEVER does this, she my little lover, loves kissing even strangers. She must sense the mean vibs. Besides they called her a RAT.I

I was thinking you could go play frisbee with the kids!! I'm sure you could hit the old a** if you really tried!!! "Oops! I'm so sorry! It really got away from me there!"

Rev your car engine when you are getting ready to go somewhere... you know like one of those crazy kids!!! Those street racers!!!! (your just warming it up)

And Honk real loud and long when you are waiting for the kids to come out!!! (you have to get their attention)

Walk your RATs(really awesome terriers) by their house as often as you can!!! And be sure to let them walk on their lawn... (their feet can handle the heat of the pavement for very long! they have to step off!)

Oh and one more thing!! Pick up a box of fire crackers!!! The big ones!! like M80's then..... Very randomly... set one off... day time, night time... any time... one a week... not for 5 days and then 2 in one day.... skip 2 days let off 1 then wait 4 days.... and so on... Maybe set off one of those rapid fire ones every now and then.... lol maybe you can give him a heart attack!! Better than arson!! Your house wont catch fire! lol

If they think they have bad neighbors.... show them what bad neighbors are really about! Kill them with everyday activities! And Smile!!! Don't let that Old Goat get your Goat!!! Teach your boy to say something nice when the geezer next door or down the street yells at him! Something like.... "Ohhhhh, your soooo sweet! I'll be sure and tell my mom you said hello!" or "Sorry, I can't talk right now, but lets do lunch sometime! Catch ya later!" And one my daughter uses when people say aweful things to her.... "Comming from you... I'll take that as a compliment! Thank you very much!"

Just enjoy your home... don't let these guys get to you!! And for heavens sake... don't tip toe around them!!! Don't teach your kids that they have to hide or alter their lives beyond whats normal.... and it sounds like the guy next door is asking for your kids to not be normal kids.... Screw the long summer for your kids... its going to be a long summer for him!!! Thats more like it!!!
