My husband took me to "the house on the rock" and asked me to marry him in the "infinity room" it was very romantic! I was sooooooo surprised that he had to ask me twice because I didnt answer the first time, I was speechless! :2omg:

It is a museum in Wisconsin. He picked it because it has the "infinity room" which means forever, quite perfect for marriage. This is a picture of it, the walls and floor are made of glass. It's breathtaking up there!

Girls are such cheaters! You can't announce your engagement in a public forum until he pops the question!

Just kidding. Congratulations!

My attempt at romance backfired. We went for a moonlit walk at a local lake, and I was the only one with a flashlight. I had wrapped the ring in a small box with a bow on it. As we walked, I dropped it on the ground in front of us and shined the light on it, giving me an excuse to get down on my knees and offer her the box to open. Her reaction: "No, it could be a bomb!"

i first met my husband when i was still in ireland, he was on holiday with his girlfriend, and myself and my boyfriend met them in a bar and became friendly, but when their holiday was over we didnt stay in touch. Months went by and i split from my boyfriend, fancied a fresh start so when i was offered a job in england, i decided to go for it. Then one day I was going into the post office, and he walked out, so i thought hmmm i know him from somewhere - but just went on shopping etc. Then I got a poke on the back, and it was him - he had been looking all over for me, he asked me to go for lunch - I said ok! three months later we married and will be married 4 years on 6 june.

the proposal was on bended knee, he wrote a poem about how much he loved me, read it out and gave me a lovely diamond solitare!

my brother was a bit more risque - he tied the ring to his bits with a red ribbon, and proposed to his wife naked!!

good luck with the proposal - I cried - so get waterproof mascara!!!

DH did it on Father's Day while we were celebrating with both sides of the family... After we had already given out all of the gifts to the Mom's, Aunts, etc... Someone said "OK, I think we're done." He said "No, there is one more gift." I turned to look at him like he was crazy because I knew that we had already given out our gifts. When I turned around he was on his knee... :) He could barely get out what he wanted to say, but I knew.. LOL I was like, "Yes, Yes." We still joke about how choked up and nervous he got.. I mean, he was doing this in front his like 25 friends and family members.. What a GREAT guy I have...

My DH and I went shopping at the mall together. That is how we usually spent our Sunday's. He'd go in one direction and I'd go in another. I was in need of a new watch and we went to Ben Bridge Jewlery Store. While we were looking around my dh says to me "you know, we've never talked about what kind of ring you want". I just laughed, we had only been together 8 months. So I bought my watch, and we went our seperate ways shopping in the mall. We met back up at the jewlery store to go home about an hour later and there he was, waiting for me, and when I said, "lets go home honey" he got down in one knee in the store and proposed. I just about died. I was NO WAY ready to get married but knew we would take our time. I said yes and we were married 5 years later. Out of my 3 marriages, this one by far was the best proposal and marriage. They do say, 3rd times a charm.

I am not even sure my husband proposed to me.....I THINK I did it. Basically, I said something like, "hey, my parents will be in town in 3 weeks. Why don't we just do this thing..." He said, "OK, what are we doing for dinner tonite?" THe proposal was not spectacular, but the marriage has been great. I guess that's what counts.

LOOL..I haven't announced the engagement...YET!! I'm just doing proposal research...I guess you can call it that...Trust me when the real thing happens it's going to be a very bright, big, bold lettered thread..lol..So seriously, she thought it was a bomb? Did you end up married? or did she say no?

I still think your approach is no fair to your man. You're researching to find the most romantic proposal, then you'll compare your man's proposal to the best. He can't win!

But, yeah, she thought it was a bomb. She's a real suspicious sort, but we ended up married and are still together after almost 9 years.

DH had gone over to my mom's apartment to help her do a few things and I stopped by when I got off work. He met me in the parking lot and when I got out of the car, he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I thought he was joking so my first response was, "Get up!". Well, he did and said "Well, I guess that means no". Naturally, I grabbed him and said hold on a minute, not so fast..LOL! I didn't get my ring that day because he was having it made, told me it would take about 3 weeks for it to come in. Like you, we had been talking about it and ring "looking" so he knew what I liked. Well, that week-end was my mom's birthday and we took her out for champagne brunch after church that Sunday. As soon as we were seated, a waitress comes out with a silver covered dish and a waiter right behing her with a bottle of champagne. She put the dish down in front of me and said it was for me. I looked at her and said, "It's her birthday (pointing to my mom), not mine!" Waitress said it was for me. As I lifted the lid off, the waiter popped the champagne, and there lay my ring. I was totally surprised as I wasn't expecting the ring for another couple weeks!! DH came around and put the ring on my finger and then all the people around us stood and clapped. We celebrated our 20th anniversary this past January.

Best of luck to you and congrats on the impending engagement. Can't wait to read the post on how he proposes to you:)

My fiance proposed to me last November 2005.
We had been together for 5 years. We've been talking about getting married for quite some time, but he was a poor Medical school student and I knew he couldn't afford anything at the time. He had asked me what kind of ring I wanted and I picked out a setting that I was in love with. But because I knew money was tight I told him I'd be just as happy with a simple solitare. This was back in February 2005. He had just started his residency in July 2005 and his hours were so crappy. I remember being very upset about not having any time together, and when we did have time to spend with each other he was dead tired from his shifts. So in November when his schedule calmed down a bit he went on a day trip to Howe Caverns in upstate NY. I was soooo sure he was going to pop the question there and I got all dolled up to go on our trip. But nothing. When we got back to the apartment I changed into my sweats & a tank top plopped on the sofa & flipped on the TV. He came over & got down on one knee and said, "I love you so much, I'm sorry you've been through so much and I haven't had much time for you. But I want you to be with me forever. Will you marry me?" My jaw dropped and I was like, "OMG OMG OMG YES!! There's nothing I want more!" And he brought out a little red ring box from behind him and told me to close my eyes. And he put the ring on my finger. And to my surprise it was the ring I was in love with! I just kept looking at it in awe. We're planning for our wedding now. Setting the date in September 2007. :)

*This isn't a picture of MY ring. But that is the setting.
