Doggy Ghosts? :rbyorkie: I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I am wondering if anyone else has had the feeling that a deceased dog has been visiting. We had a collie that we rescued. He had been neglected and abused. As a result of his severe head injury he was deaf and had seizures. When he died it broke our hearts because we didn't think we had had him long enough. (only 3 years) We wanted to help him more and give him all the love he missed before we adopted him. We could tell that he appreciated us and tried harder to please us than any dog I've ever owned before or since. I taught him sign language and we used different techniques to get his attention like flicking light switches, tapping on the floor and even tapping him in different places. Anyway - as you can see he was special. Now I swear he comes back to visit. He used to sit beside the bed and just stare at me in the morning before I woke up. Once I opened my eyes he was all over me. A lot of mornings now I will start to regain consciousness and almost feel him breathing in my face. I know that if I open my eyes he will be there. The two dogs I have now often (both at the same time) stare at the same place in the room - right about collie face high. I have even felt something brush against my legs but when I look there is nothing there. Has anyone else had experiences like these? Lou |
Wow you story gave me chills. I haven't had any doggy ghost stories but I do believe in it. Your collie sounded so sweet. |
I actually have never experienced anything like you ...but I DO believe you and I bet he IS visiting.... that's an awesome story and he sounds very very special. I got chills reading your post...maybe you could leave his special toy out for him too ? Bless his heart - I hate hearing about an abused dog but it sounds like you gave him the best 3 years of his entire life...it really could be he's still with you. |
I dream of my cat every now & then. And I think that it's her way of letting me know she's ok & that she missing me. I beileve that your collie is still with you. Not to sound corny or cliche but, Love is very powerful :) |
WOW! I bet your collie is still around you, loving and protecting you. |
i pretty sure there is a book about this. my mom has it. |
Your story gave me chills. I think that your collie does come and visits you. He sounds that he was very special. |
I am not necessarily a believer or a non believer. However, last May my beloved lab/chow mix, Hershey died. She was 14 and had cancer. My parents had to put her to sleep. They had the vet come to our house so she would be comfortable. Anyway, we had her cremated and her remains are in a cedar box at my parents. I came home a few weeks later and took some pics of Hershey's brother Duey. There were weird white lights in the corner of the pics. I then when into a different room and took some by Hershey's cedar box, more white light. I then proceeded to take some video with my cell phone and the white light was moving at the bottom of the screen near Duey. It freaked me out and you can even hear the audio of me saying "Mom what in the hell is that!" I still have the video on my phone and I have shown it to people. I can tell all of you sceptics that I took several pics. Sometimes with the flash on, sometimes off. I am convinced that it was my Hershey, sitting by her brother like she always did. I think she was letting me know that she was happy and okay. She was my first dog. I got her when I was seventeen and I never thought I could handle her passing. I also never thought I could love a dog as much as I loved her, but I do. Lola's personality is so much like Hershey's. Sometimes I think she is Hershey reincarnated. |
I'd LOVE to see that video - do you still have it ? |

My friends moved into their new home...and have "visits" all the time from a medium sized Black Lab...they feels its breath on her face in the morning...or she'll look and there is dog in the doorway...and then he's gone...its spooky! And they are the biggest Skeptics I know! Francie |

COOL! I wish I could see the Video! Francie :) |
AWESOME ! When my cousin.. who was also my best friend.. died....I slept with his favorite shirt for over a year hoping to 'see' him again. I wasn't that lucky but I still hope to this day. I wonder why some people can see ghosts and some can't. I'd LOVE to be visited whether it be human or animal - JUST NO SCARY STUFF !! I only want to see the nice ghosts. |

I believe! I really do think they come back to be with us. They are such a huge part of our life when they are here with us. I just think that some people are just more receptive than others. I have only had one "experience" and it was not a good one. I did not "see" anything, but there WAS something there and it was not nice. I was doing some painting at a condo in Orange Beach, Alabama. There were some corridors there were recessed between two units off of the walkway. I was back in one of these corridors painting and felt this presence. This was in the heat of summer and it just froze me. I sent it on its way pretty quickly...gave me the eebie jeebies for sure. |
I do still have the video. When my boyfriend get home tonight, I will ask him to help me download it. Sorry guys, I am not the most computer literate person. :) I forgot to add that I played around with different shots too. I would get my brother to sit in the spot to see if it was just some weird reflection. The white light would not always be there. I still have not figured out what to do with Hershey's remains. I was going to bury them under her favorite tree. I forgot to tell you guys a funny story. One day my mom came home and my dad had moved Hershey's cedar box. My mom walk into their bedroom all concerned and asked " Where's Hershey?" My dad said, all serious, "she's dead, Karen!" He thought she was going crazy. It cracks me up. She meant Hershey's remains. |
