This guy was bitten by a Brown Recluse spider.
The Brown Recluse Spider is the most dangerous spider that we have here in the USA.

Not fun at all. I was bitten by one..on my..well rather not divulge...yeah have no clue how or where the spider came from but I had to have a lot of skin and tissue removed had 10 to 12 stitches, and might one day have to get some more of the tissue removed. My mistake was I thought it was a bug bite or an ingrown hair and didn't see drs for about a month. Mom says well at least if you get lost we have a mark to tell the police and news meida about....haha

That's just lovely! Yuck! I knew their bite was very dangerous...even fatal, but I didn't know it could do that! Do you know how long it progressed before it got to that stage?

Well, I just researched this spider, and it is found in areas south and west to Kentucky...and California. From what I just read this takes place over s 2 to 3 day peroid, because of the dark serum left by the initial bite. It also said that the bite is like a mosquito bite.

OK, so it says the violin shape is not always there, but you can tell by the pattern of it's eyes!?!?! :eek: OK, like I'm going to get close enough to count it's stupid eyes! :rolleyes:

NOTE TO SELF: Just be safe and squash all brown spiders.

Here Here I agree, it wasn't like I was able to go oh mr spider what are you? Now a days if a spider looks brown it's smashed.

And yes it does look like a mosquito bit at first

GOD!!!! Spiders TOOOOOTALLY gross me out!!! I am scared to death of them. My theory is...if it has more than 4 legs (6 max), it is evil and must be destroyed! There is just something VERY unnatural about a creature with 8 legs and all of those eye balls! :eek:

When I went to Kentucky 2 years ago, I was attcked by a green looking spider in the shower...I haven't visited Kentucky since, and have NO plans on going back any time soon!! I HATE BUGS!! All Kinds!!

Please, please, please be careful when dealing with any spider if you are in doubt about whether or not it is poisonous. My best friend died about 4 years ago from complications deriving from a Fiddleback (brown recluse) spider bite. If you are bit, please seek medical attention immediately, especially if you don't know what bit you. These can be very dangerous!

My uncle got bitten a couple of years ago and lost a big chunk of skin off his back, even after its been healed now,you can still fit your fist in the place it left. That happened in Lakeland Fla. Also one of my co-workers sons just got bit by one a month ago here in Indiana. He has a really bad scar on his shoulder now. I never used to be afraid of spiders until I heard of this kind. Now I am!! But, I will say I am petrified of snakes!!!!!!!!!

I had a friend get bite by one of these here in Arizona - he ended up with a chunk out of his leg...not pretty but at least they caught it in time.

Kinda like when they tell you that you can determine whether or not a snake is venomous by it's pupils....ya right....I'll check those after he's dead ;)

Scary, Scary, Scary! Glad that you are ok!

These are very very dangerous, our neighbor got bit on her leg and it was so bad, they eventually had to amputate her leg. Scarey, She was sorting through her sewing fabric and she figured it was in there. I went and put wide tape on the closures of all boxes that I have stored my stuff in, to make sure they are all sealed tight so nothing can get into them.

That's one bad spider. Those of you who think they aren't in your area, beware. They are not supposed to be here, but they are. One man ended up having a seven hour surgery on his brain and nearly died...also lost a large part of his leg.

My son got bit by spider/spiders a few years back. He had huge red lines...about an inch wide...going upwards from the huge red bites. I was so afraid it was a brown recluse, but it turned out to be an aggressive house spider. He ended up in the hospital...even had vision problems from the bites and thank goodness...no lasting effects except for the scars from the bites. The doctor said if this was olden times, it would have been a death sentence for him because it was moving so quickly through his lypmph system and without antibiotics to fight it, he'd have been a goner.

I kill ANY spider I see...indoors or out. I don't like em and stomp em good! Only ones I don't mind are daddy long legs.

HEAD STRAIGHT TO A WOUND CARE CLINIC !

They have specialized medicine there that your normal doctor doesn't have or even know about!

My husband was bitten 24 times by a brown recluse spider. He almost died! He was bitten on his forehead and the skin rotted down to his skull. He spent a week in the hospital, had to have plastic surgery and was very very sick!! I KILL EVERY SPIDER!!!!!! AND.....you better believe we are very very careful!!!!! He was bitten in Georgia, flew home to Houston where he was treated. Thank the Lord above............Please take this notice to everyone seriously! Also, my girlfriend in Albuquerque, New Mexico was also bitten by a brown recluse and she has a large hole in her calf now.

I had to read this so close to bed time. Now I am going to dream of spiders crawling all over me!!!

I live in an older trailer. Not sure why thry love it here, but they do. I have been bitten twice, and my husband once since we lived here. I was bit on the neck the first time, while sleeping. And the second time I was bitten multiple times when I rolled over on one, while I was sleeping. I was 8 months pregnant at the time and had to go to the hospital. Where I spent many hours. It was terrible. Luckily the time when I had gotten bit the second time, it bit me so many times in a row that it woke me up. It was almost like a sting feeling. Hurt pretty bad. I was lucky that he was not able to inject enough of the poison to cause this type of severe damage. But I do have scars from the bites. And my husband still has a hole in his ankle where he was bitten. These spiders are everywhere. And they are VERY hard to kill. They are immune to so many poisons. We have been buying glue traps for them. We put these where no one else can get to them. Like my kids, or the yorkies, etc. We put them in dark cool areas, and behind furniture. They are scented so that the spiders are attracted to them. PLEASE educate yourselves on these spiders, and other types of spiders in your area. You can't mess around with them at all. They love cardboard boxes, paper, dark, damp cool areas, etc. If you get bit by a spider and you don't see the spider, see a doctor. The damage can happen so fast and can even be deadly. Don't take a chance and put it off. See a doctor, because its better safe than sorry.

The doctors in Houston told us that the only thing that saved my husbands life was that there venom gets weaker every time they bite. Boy, that's a good thing........Thanks for the Arkansas warning! We kill all spiders!

Killing every spider is not going to save you. We should not wipe out all spiders because of a few. There is a balance in nature. The brown recluse like its name does try to remain seclude.

I have the same argument with my husband over snakes. He thinks that they should all be dead. We would be in trouble if we wiped out everything we thought bugged us.

My first husband had a brown recluse bite him. My son had one a several weeks later. My son had a systemic reaction to the spider bite. I do know what they can do.
