According to my Chinese-Vietnamese mixed household, not finishing your bowl of food is considered wasteful. You should only take what you can eat... Just an FYI. :)

According to my mother, those Chinese kids were supposed to be starving. I always wanted to say...well, gee, let's box up this yucky stuff and send it to 'em. Never said it, but I thought it. :rolleyes:

Hummm....

My grandfather would always tell me that when we would stay at his house. Oddly enough they must have been having this problem for a while cause my mom told me he would tell her the same thing when she was younger :D

It was those little retorts, missy, that got your toys tossed in the trash :eek:

If that had ever been uttered by any of us kids, within earshot of my father, we'd have been dead meat....dead meat or knocked into next week...another favorite expression of dear ol' dad's :rolleyes:

Oh I know it,, I could say things like that,and that was it,,then the "LOOK" came out, that was all I needed.
Still to this day, she can give me the "look" and it sends chills down my spine.

Never been spanked ( I know what your thinkin') The look was always enough for me.
Once I was running through the close racks at a NICE store,and my Mom grabbed me by the hair and drug me to the car. :eek: I always bring that up,and she starts with the " Oh that's the worst thing I ever did to you." :rolleyes: I remember it like it was yesterday.

And the " Missy" was a frequent word out of her mouth also.

My mom (who never hit us, by the way) would say beat your butt till your nose bleeds... LOL

I got a 9 - Missed England (that's just a technicality because I know they think we're slobs) and Poland. Who knew I had the power to flip over a boat!

I think the "leaving no food on the plate" thing is totally American.

oh, and I hate when I make something to eat and the people who eat it:
1. put ketchup on it
2. salt it all up
3. ask for some other condiment.
