Cell Phone Service: What do you have? Ok, so i have Nextel, but it absolutely SUCKS- i cant get reception and when i do it fades out and i end up hanging up on everyone. ive had it for a year and would have to wait another year before my contract is up, so im planning on paying the termination fee and ending our relationship :p I want to switch to TMobile, simply because i want a sidekick :rolleyes: but before i make that leap i was wondering a few things- what service everyone uses? Are you happy with them? Have you ever had a sidekick and would you recommend it? |
I have Cingular and I really like it, I get pretty good reception around here. |
We have Cingular as well and we love it...I think it is the best in our area!!! |

I also have Cingular. What I really like is the "rollover" program. I've actually accumulated to over 1,000 anytime minute now (I have the 400 minute plan). The reception is really good in this area too. I hear from my friends that Cingular tries to build their reception tower near highway or major traffic areas. That way, when someone is stuck on the road, they can actually use their phone and not be out of reception. Don't know if that's true or not but Cingular does work well. On the other hand, my brother has T-Mobile which he absolutely loves too. I guess you can't go wrong with either. |
I too have Nextel. I LOVE it. I always get a signal. I love the one on one walkie talkie thing and i love my ringtones. i dont use text messenging...just isn't my thing. But over all, I have no complaints about Nextel. Sorry that some of you are having a bad experience with them. I've just never had any probs... Also love my free nites and weekends. |
I have cingular and have been pleased with it. I think it just depends on your location, different companies have different reception according to location. There is a place online you can look to see which company has best reception in your area but can't recall how I found it. |

i have cingular and LOVE IT... i have free mobile to mobile, and everyone i know is on cingular so i dont really use any minuits, and i get them all rolled over so i must have accumulated A LOT.... the reception is good, they just updated their sim chips so that they get better reception and also teh towers they use were just expanded to include towers from at&t so the reception area and quality has gotten better...... one thing i dont like, you can only upgrade your phone every 21 MONTHS!!!! it really sucks, |
I have a T-mobile family plan. No complaints, except my kids' 24/7 usage of it. :p |
We have Verizon, it's ok I guess, the kids love them, with five phones, I don't think we will be changing plans anytime soon. It's been about five years with them, no problems, so I guess they are OK. I don't use it much, just want to be able to keep in touch with the kids. They are always on the go. :) :) :) |

I had Nextel and hated it.. I never had reception anywhere which really sucked.. so i didn't really get much use of it. I also had Sprint.. which none of my friends or family members had so a waste of my minutes.. reception is great, but i wasn't happy with the plans.. My boyfriend has Cingular and there isn't much of a complaint only no service once in a while.. I have Verizon and i freakin love it. I think they have the coolest phones. Plus all my friends have it so that means free mobile to mobile, free text.. and vcast! i love it.. :) |
I have Cingular. It's okay, not the greatest but passable I think, but rollover is neat and you can add additional lines for your family for $10/month (at least that's the price when I did it, might be more now...). |
I had Cingular for over 5 years and it has the WORST service here in Jersey. Constant dropped calls. I finally switched to Verizon, and it's perfect since August. Never one dropped call. Overall, Verizon is known for the best service, and T-moble and Cingular for all the minutes. But what good are those minutes if you can't keep a phone call b/c it keeps getting dropped? This is just MHO. :D |
Here's a mixed up mess for you...My husbands work phone is Verizon, His personal phone is Alltel and mine and my daughters cell phones are qwest. All of the ones we have work fine. |

thanks for everyones input! im still trying to figure out what to do. i love my nextel plan and walkie talkie, but my reception is nonexistant...and i love the idea of rollover minutes...but i LOVE the sidekick. i love the idea of aphone that does tons of things lol- camera, internet,- like blackberries, treos, sidekick. so i guess im still deciding :rolleyes: so keep posting :p |

ACN is coming out with Cell phone services and I'm looking into that. Right now ACN works mainly with VOIP, local and long distance and video phones, and I believe Internet. They're a good company. But Right now I use T-mobile. Too expensive!!!! |

All kinds of celebrities were getting thousands of calls a day and most of Hollywood had to change their number. I Have Verizon and I love all the packages it comes with. It does everything a sidekick can do, but it looks more spiffier :) (well at least to me it does) I have the LG VX9800 if yall wanna google it and see it. :D i love it because its small, cute, stylish, and its easy to use. I also have the sidekick, but since my phone does mainly everything that i do on my phone (except AIM - well it does but its a bit technical) I gave my friend my sidekick. the sidekick is awesome too, but i wouldn't use t-moblie, friends that had it before hated it just as much as nextel. |
I have Cingular, which is owned by BellSouth, which is where both my parents work. My service is in my dad's name so I get his discount. I don't have any complaints. :) |
I have the T-Mobile family plan and I love it!! I think they have one of those side kick phones. The important thing is you need to make sure which phones works best in your area. Shop around and ask first. I know T-Mobile has that walk away plan. If it doesn't work return it! |

I am telling you this because for years we had Cingular and loved it , however when we retired, moved to our present location we had no service . We are rural in north Florida and Cingular let us out of our contract. ( I had just gotten a new contract with the newest phones -this was 2 years ago ) Verizon is good and thats what we have now as most of my grown kids and other family have it and that means free calls to all of them. You should talk to your carrier and explain about the bad service and see if they will cancel you out. Its hardly worth a lawsuit to get them to do what they are supposed to but it sure doesn't cost to talk to them |
helen, thanks for that tip. It's sooo frustrating when that happens to my calls. and i would say it happens about 75% of the time. I will def call them and see if there is anything they can do for me. Xtine- was there anything that you absolutely loved or hated about the sidekick? i hate making impulse buys- doesnt mean i dont, though :rolleyes: i want to make sure if i switch simply to get a sidekick i dont end up regretting it. thanks again for everyones input! I never tried posting in off topic- you guys are so freakin helpful!! i love it<3 |
