Are celebraties above the law?
 

I feel really sick after reading this. I have a son and I NEVER once drove without him in a carseat. I have seen strangers do it and I've yelled at them. This pic makes me sick. Did the "aggresive paparazzi" have guns? She could have jumped in the back of the SUV and strapped her kid in. In the pic no one looked that upset and it's not like "War of the worlds" where people are shaking the car. Her bodyguard even looks bored or about to fall asleep, maybe he could have even been holding the baby. Maybe if paparazzi are such a pain she should just send someone else to go get her starbucks.
Even Lindsay Lohan blames her accidents on Paparazzi. But is that a good excuse to drive faster or disobey the laws? Why can't they just wear discuises or call the police when things get too crazy? Why do they throw drinks on them? Or even hit them? But they suddenly become the sweetest person and sign autographs whenever they get into trouble with the police. Sorry, but you should have thought about that before you got into the buisness. They are just photographers trying to make a living. Many accidents have already happened and how many people will die from stars disobeying laws?
Even Matthew Mcconaughey who was recently on Oprah said that he doesn't mind the paparazzi at all. He says, "At least they're not carring guns, they're just cameras."
Sorry but this is something I feel really strongly about. I'm sorry if your a Britney spears fan. But to me the only excuse for driving around with a child in your lap is if you're being shot at or if there's an evacuation. And I would at least have the baby in the back withsomeone holding him. :mad: :thumbdown

This is the photograph of singer Britney Spears driving a car with her baby son sitting on her lap.
Several pictures of the incident had circulated unofficially on the internet prompting a defence from the pop star.

Spears said she had her son Sean Preston on her lap in an effort to escape the paparazzi.

"I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us," the chart-topping singer said.

The singer gave birth to her son in September.

The photos show Spears driving in traffic with one arm round Sean as he sits on her lap, rather than him being strapped into a baby car seat, while a passenger sits next to them.


Spears married Federline in 2004

In her statement, Spears described the moments when the photographs were taken as a "horrifying, frightful encounter".

"Because of a recent incident when I was trapped in my car without my baby by a throng of paparazzi, I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger," she said.

"I love my child and would do anything to protect him."

In October, the singer's spokespeople said pictures of Spears and Sean, taken during a photo shoot, had been stolen.

They were posted on the internet but removed after she threatened legal action.

A statement at the time said use of the photos would be an "invasion of privacy".

The baby's father is dancer Kevin Federline, Spears' husband since September 2004.

Federline has two children by his ex-girlfriend, actress Shar Jackson, one of whom was born after he and Spears started dating.

I also am upset by this. Lock your doors put the baby back in his car seat. Call the police......... She even looks like she is almost smiling in the pic does not look scared to me.

I also think there must be stricker laws against the paparazzi, they are truly out of control, which would mean that the stars need to protect themselves even more and avoid dangerous situations. Britney could of done that by keeping her baby in his carseat. She has lost her mind these last few years, shes not the Britney I once enjoyed.

That baby is only 5 months old and there is no excuse for him not being in a carseat I dont care if she is going next door that child should be in a carseat!

It pisses me off that a normal person would have been arrested, charged with child endangerment and their child put into custody with DCF. She should be treated like everyone else. Who cares if she is Britney Spears, it's just a name.

yeah, that really makes me mad. I read that the police were called to do an investigation and they took pics with her and she gave them her autographs. I'm looking for the website. I just found this one, I must have missed it last year.

Spears, her mother Lynne and sister Jamie Lynn had just finished buying two dogs from a Santa Monica, Calif., pet store when paparazzi began surrounding the Spears’ Toyota Scion in the parking lot. Lynne Spears reversed the car, allegedly hitting photographer Colin Reavley who fell to the ground.

A video of the aftermath shows an upset Britney Spears, encouraging her mother to leave, saying, “Mama, get in the car, get in the damn car.” Police and paramedics on the scene kept the Spears family there.

Reavley spent time in the hospital and was released with no bones broken. He is currently resting at home.

I have wondered about this since the story broke, I don't get it,, HOW could you holing your baby in a car, be safer than it being in a carseat?? I have never heard that explained? No matter what they are doing..the car seat would be a better place. I WOULD THINK!

BUT~ holding the baby like that, gives a better photo than in the car seat, better visability!

Also, I agree that the paparazzi go way too far sometimes! They get away with anything themselves. Did you guys watch the movie that Mel Gibson produced, "Paparazzi"? It's really good and it'll give you a bit of insight into how far some of them are willing to go to get a shot of someone.

I haven't seen the movie, but I just don't see it as that bad. They're just taking pictures, that's what they get paid for to make a living. They don't deserve to get hit with cars, shot in the leg, spit on, or drinks thrown on them. I think the stars could call the police on them or wear hats or let their body guards do their jobs

This really really gets to me!! I worked in a day care center - in the infant room - where we had the joy of knowing one little girl from the time she was six weeks old! She was a happy chubby little baby and was really just starting to explore her world when at 7 months her mother, little brother - in a car seat - and a couple of other people were going somewhere. Well I guess they didn't have time to make two trips or get another car or just NOT go - she decided it would be alright for her 13 year old niece to hold her in the FRONT seat and they were hit!! The baby is the only one who died!!We all took it soooo hard!! Then someone had the nerve to say that she saved that 13 year old's life because she took the impact :eek: :eek: :eek: I go crazy when I see people get into cars and not put babies in the proper restraints!! I was just in a car accident myself - minor - but my daughter hurt her back some and I hurt my neck and we WERE absolutely wearing our seatbelts - it could have been so much worse without them!! Take the time put your kids in belts, seats, boosters - SOMETHING and don't let anyone under 12 or under 80 pounds sit in front!!

That is so horrible. Thank you for sharing that story, I'm sure it was so hard on you. People need to learn that it's not okay, even if it's just for a 5 minute trip. That must weigh so heavy on that 13 year old's mind. I wonder how the father took it all. Do you know if they're still together?

According to that site DFCS (department of Child and Family services) said they can't say who they're investigating, if anyone. The police were called over there, but according to them they can't do much unless an officer saw it with his own eyes. But the police that went to their house were treated with autographs, a tour, and pictures with her.

Just read something interesting on a baby website... it seems that Britney Spears has not one but TWO car seats for her son and both of them are top of the line. SO, wouldnt you think since she has 2 of the best car seats for her son that she would at least use them?!?!?!?!

Actually that doesn't really surprise me at all. Many people with alot of money have no problem using it on things they don't plan on using or use very little. She probably just thinks she's being cute or showing him off. She's not known for being very bright.

On ET tonight, they had a video showing WHEN Miss Thang purchased the car seats. It was NOT before he was born. Her driver placed all her purchases, car seats included in her car. Driver open the back door for Brittney, she climbed in with the baby in her arms, no car seat, shuts the door. Perhaps no one she knows in Alambama ever used a car seat.....

That is horrible. Someone needs to have a serious talk with that girl. She just must think that she's untouchable because she's Britney Spears and can do whatever she wants. Just like Lindsay Lohan and her speeding problem Or Michael Jackson dangling his baby. Why don't cops do their jobs instead of asking for autographs and pictures?

Here are more pics! In the one attached there is no doubt that she is smiling! Afraid for her child's life my a**. The paparazzi can be pretty sleazy but I don't think they were in this case, I don't see a hoard of people around her care and she looks like they're having a great time as if it's a fun ride. Not too bright. I want to state again to people- USE your carseat and Britney Spears is a BAD example!

It makes me mad to know the celebs can get away with allot of things...way too much I think. I think that all laws should be for everyone no matter what.

It's sad to see how the police handle this incident. People, especially someone like Britney Spears, will never learn unless there are serious consequences. I thought in situation like this, CPS would remove the child during the investigation. I bet Britney Spears think she was being cute and that she can get away with anything. I guess nobody tell her otherwise, not to her face anyway. Well, someone should for the sake of the child. I sure hope the CPS would do their job better. We should not have to wait until a child is actually hurt to take action.

yeah, doesn't anyone remember Michael Jackson dangling the baby? NOTHING ever happened to him there!

Or how about that Australian crocodile hunter Steve Irwin I think having his baby near the crocs. What an ass! :mad:
