Someone please pray for my cousin!
 

I just got a phone call tonight that my little cousin Dalton age 8 that lives in Kansas City was hit by a car. He was walking to a friends house, when he was hit by an oncoming car on Y-Highway.. The only news that I have so far is that he has a bad concussion, both his legs are broken, his pelvis is broken, and he is unconsious. He is in the process of getting more tests right now, and I will find out more as soon as they do. Please say a prayer for him and my family tonight!

I'm so sorry! That is truely heartbreaking! Your entire family, and especially your little cousin, are in my thoughts and prayers.

Update on Dalton
 

There was some news this morning on Daltons condition. Lat night after the ct scans they found that he has swelling and bleeding in the brain, as well as lots of broken bones that needed surgical repair. I also found out that the car was going about 40 when he was hit.
This morning at 11 am they said that the bleeding in the brain was not getting worse, but not getting better at the same time, so they were going to go ahead and operate, drain the blood, and fix all the breaks. Got a phone call about 1 pm saying that the surgery went perfect, and that he is doing great. My cousin said he just looks really bad from the swelling and bruising. They are also going to keep him sedated and on a ventelator for the next couple of days. Don't exactly know what that is for, but my guess is so that he can stay calm and rest, and heal a little faster that way. Thank you for all of your prayers. As I have found out with my babies, God works miracles. And he has definetly got a gaurdian angel watching over him right now. My love to all of you for everything that you do for me, and continue to do through these past months with my own child. I will keep you informed as I hear some more news.

I'm glad he's come through surgery! He has a long road a head of him and we will keep him in our prayers. Poor baby. How is your Aunt holding up?

Actually Jennifer is my cousin, so Dalton is my second cousin. He calls me his Aunt Heather though, it is too cute! He has the sweetest personality. The last time I saw him I was dropping him off at his house, and as I was driving off he turned around and blew me a kiss!! My cousin has 4 other kids as well, and they are the best parents ever! I went over to there house at 8 one night, and alll the kids were in bed sleeping, and my cousin Jenifer and her husband Brad were just sitting there together reading their bibles! How cute is that!! I wish I was nearly that good with my kids! I got a call this morning from my Aunt Erica, Jen's mom. And she said that they moved the pic line down to his groin, and that they still have him sedated until tommorow. She was on her way back up to the hospital to give Jen some food, and make her eat. Since she has not eaten since the accident. Which is very bad because she is a diabetic. I am going to go up there this weekend to stay at her house, and help with the other kids, and just be a support for them all. I thank you all for your support! I actually just got a phone call saying that they asked that nobody talk to him or touch him for a while. Because they are trying to get the swelling to come down in his brain. And they want him to have little brain stimulation in order to do that. I talked to his dad tonight. They send thanks for the prayers. Please continue to pray for him, and I will keep you all updated as I get news..

Oh, how very scarey. Dalton's Mom definetly needs to take care of herself so that she can be there for her son and the rest of her children and family. I know she probably feels guilty "eating" or "drinking" or "smiling" or "sleeping" while her baby is in this terrible condition. My heart just breaks for this little boy and his family. However, he must be quite a fighter and is hanging in there. I pray that he has a full recovery. I will pray for this family. It is so stressful and hard. I know I will be checking for updates constantly. Please try to get your cousin to remember that she is a diabetic and HAS to take care of herself. How nice of you to go be with her.

I am so relieved to hear that he is through the surgeries and they went well! They sometimes keep them on the ventilator and even place them in a condition similar to a suspended animation. That way their body won't even have to attempt to breathe thereby giving it total rest and that will help his recovery. We will keep him constantly in our prayers along with you and the other family! I just got this picture of Dalton. I was really expecting him to look much worse. But I guess he landed on his back, and the back of his head. So that is where all the road rash is. He is still having some swelling in the brain. But they will continue to keep him in a quite room with out any stimulation until this is better. Thank you once again for all of your prayers. This is a picture of just his upper half. Since he is naked, they can't put much over him, with the pelvis and legs just being repaired and all. They are planning on taking him off the vent tommorow, and possibly waking him up. I will post again as soon as I hear something.

Thank you for keeping us up to date on your cousin. He is definately in my thoughts and I will hug my son harder tonight. Your cousin is so precious. Is he in a children's hospital or a regular one? I am really pulling for him. I feel so bad for the family. Is there anything they need? Cards or toys or anything when he gets to feeling better? I feel so bad for the little guy. Did the police do an investigation on the person who hit him? I hope they made sure the guy wasn't drinking or speeding or anything crazy. Please keep the updates coming and he is in our families thoughts tonight.

Thank you so much for your kind words. As a mother of three little boys myself, it really does make you wan't to hug them a little bit harder. I was thinking about starting some type of card collection for them. I don't even know how to start that though. Just cards with all of your kind words in them. I think they would love that. He is at Childrens Mercy North Hospital in Kansas City. He was life flighted there. I will include the number if you need it for any reason. 816-234-3498. I was wanting to send some flowers or something, but I don't know what they allow in the rooms, since it's the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. My cousin says that they would love cards also. If anyone would love to send them something, let me know by private message and I can give you the address. As far as an investigation, I am not sure, I just know that it was a lady that hit him, and she was going 40, in a 25. I am sure something will be done. Thanks for all your kind thoughts!

Heather, thank you so much for keeping us updated on Dalton. We are praying for him constantly and I just know he will be OK ... it will just take time! I imagine one of the hardest things for his Mom is not being able to touch him .... maybe very soon she can hold him! God bless you all.
