My friend, Lauren, and I worked together at Petsmart in the pet care dept. and hung out like sisters. Well one day she showed me a picture of her older brother who I thought was really cute. She said "really??? He's never had a girlfriend." like she was surprised someone would find him attractive. well at the time he was in the air force stationed in Hawiaii.(sp) but he got out and moved to vegas and we begun talking. One night we even had a four hour phone call about needless chit chat. for a little while we had been talking about meeting up, then one night after work he called me and said that he was on his way up to Petsmart. I said ok, that I'd wait for him. At the time I had a boyfriend who had decided moving away was best for him to cali, and I thought well there's nothing wrong with having male friends. So we met up, went to his house and talked for a little bit.(he knew I had a boyfriend at the time) and nothing more happened. I left and we met up agian the next night and talked (only this time he tried to seduce me. didn't work. I'm extremely faithful. even my aunt has tried to get me to cheat.I was in a really bad relationship at that point in my life but not with the one who moved away) I left and called my boyfriend who had moved away and told him that I felt a strong connection with this guy and that I wasn't sure as to what to do. He said that maybe we should just be friends. I decided that since he lived so far away that was the best option. and from then on John and I have been together. It's now been one year and three months. I love him with all my heart and have even thought of asking him to marry me. But I'm his first girlfriend and we're young so I'm unsure of what I should do. don't men need to get out their wild oats??? I know I have, but he hasn't that I know of. |
I proposed, OH NO!! Hubby and I went to school together, he was one year older.... we were best friends and would tell each other everything(thus he knows all my dating secrets!!) and one day I called him to say hello and he started telling me how he liked this girl and couldn't ask her out,so I offered to help... later he says well why not you and me? I love all these stories! I was 18 years old and had a boyfriend my mother hated. She kept telling me about this guy at her work that she wanted me to go out with. For my birthday she gave me a card with a cowboy on it and it had his phone number inside (yeah, she was really pushing this on me! :p ) Finally to shut my mother up, I called him 2 weeks later and we talked for hours on the phone. I was so excited about our first "blind date" but it turned out AWFUL and I was home by 9 telling my mom to never do that to me again! After talking to him on the phone again, I decided to give him a second chance and one more date...long story short, we were engaged a month later. :D When I told my mother about the engagement she was a little upset as I was so young, her words were "I told him he could date you, not marry you!" Anyway, we'll be married 10 years on May 18. |
Me and my boyfriend met whilst working at McDonalds lol :D :p Probably the only good thing to ever come out of the place  still together 4 years and 4 months on, and NOT still working at Maccy Ds |

This is a cute thread! I met Big Daddy in a bar on St. Patrick's Day on a Tuesday. By Saturday, we were playing house and 3 months later we got married! 6 months after that I was pregnant. It's so funny because neither of us wanted to go out that night and our friends forced us to go. I also never gave my number or anything to guys in bars. It was fate! :p |
Thanks to everyone who has shared so far... I know there are more of you out there with great stories. BTW...It doesn't have to be romantic. :p Just want to know how love found your or how you found love... |
My BF and I met one night at bar though a friend. I had just gotten out of a relationship a few weeks before and I was not even looking for someone new. I just wanted to go out and have some fun and try to forget about the ex. Well, when I met my BF I was like well he is good looking, but I heard the stories about him from my friend, but I did not care he was fun to hangout with. Needless to stay we have been together everyday since then and that was about a year and half ago. |
My husband was actually a patient of ours for 1 year. We did lasik eye surgery on him and I thought he was really cute. After his 1 year of post op appts were done, I was soooooo sad. But then, I actually saw him at our Church! (we have a big church). It turned out that we had been going to the same church the whole time and didn't know. So I approached him and asked him how his vision was and he said "i'm sorry, what was your name again?" I was really really emberrassed (sp?) and walked away quickly too hide. He didn't even remember me after I had been his nurse for 1 whole year! About 5 minutes later he tracked me down and sat right in front of me, we started talking, and became friends for 6 months, then dated for 6 months and now have been happily married for 2 years! |
I wrote out our "how we met" story and here's the link: http://www.xanga.com/item.aspx?user=...&uid=115395254 For those of you who don't want to read the long version (well, it's not THAT long, but anyways)... Eli and I met while working at Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge (Gatlinburg), Tennessee. It was a fun place to work and we met, but didn't think much about each other. Someone suggested we start carpooling to work with each other (and it was an hour's drive each way from home to work) and so we did ONLY to save gas. Well, we know where that got us! We were engaged within 6 months of dating and got married on the beach exactly a year later than the day we got engaged. On February 28th, we will have been married 2 whole years! Our wedding pics are here: http://community.webshots.com/user/passionfruition |
I think I told everyone about me and Jody but I'll do it again.. I have been in Physical Therapy for my knee since May at the gym where Jody works.. Anyway, he is a personal trainer and he trains my best friend, her mom and her brother.. They have wanted to set us up for ever but I was in another relationship.. ANyway, Jody knew that but he would still come over and chat with me when I was working out.. ANyway, when he found out I broke up with Justin, my friend was still dying to hook us up and even though I thought he was hot I was worried because of the age difference.. Anyway, one day in August Jody asked if I wanted to go for a walk in the park so I was like sure and the rest is history... August 22 was our first walk in the park and we've be inseperable since... I couldn't imagine my life without him in it... I am glad I put the age difference aside and gave him a chance.. Just and idea, we should post pictures of us with our husbands, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends!! |
My husband was in the military on active duty and stationed in Germany. He had a TDY to my hometown in the Netherlands. Two of my friends had already met two of his friends and forced me to come out with them. So I did, and I met Brian, in a bar. We hooked up. But I kept telling him things would never work out. He had to go back to Germany and we kept talking. Then he starting driving every weekend 5 hours (one way), to see me. I never thought I'd end up eight years later being married and living in the United States. |
I met my baby at Lexington Market on my lunch hour, March 24, 2002( in my Blues Clues nurse uniform). He was a Market Police officer back then...I was and am a sucker for a man in uniform( he helped me with my third watch addiction. Anyway, I was standing in line waiting on my fruit smoothie, and he spoke. I thought to myself...this man has the most beautiful dimpled/cleft chin I have ever seen. He took his lunch and walked me back to the hospital...We exchanged numbers....Now we are working on our 4 year anniversary! :D :p |
OK, might as well... I met my husband 8+ years ago while playing blackjack at a local bar (oh no). The funny thing is that neither of us hardly drink. I was out with friends, and he liked to play pool. Well, we started talking, but I knew he was several years younger than me, so I just felt kind of flattered but didn't think much of it. I rejoined my friends at another table, but he found me and bought me a single red rose. We exchanged phone numbers, but I didn't intend to see him again. He was very persistent, and although I made all kinds of excuses as to why I couldn't go out (I don't even remember what they were), I finally agreed on a second date, and then a third, and from there on out we were together EVERY day. Two months later, we were engaged, and 4 months after that we were married. He is the sweetest man I have ever met and my soul mate. I would be lost without him. I mainly shared this to let anyone reading this know that they shouldn't let an age difference get in the way. Your true love may not fit the "perfect image" you think you're looking for. |
We met only because a friend put a whole group of us college friends on a website where you rate people if you think they are hot or not... All of a sudden I'm getting TONS of emails from people I don't know... My other friend mentions to me that she's on there as well... Our friend wouldn't take my pic off the site. So after awhile I looked at the emails and my husband had thought I was "hot".. so for a year we talked on the phone, then I went to TN to visit him..2 years later we got married... We've been married now for a year and a half.... :D |
He was my sisters brother-in-law. His humor made me fall in love with him! He is truly the funniest guy I have ever known! We have been married for almost 26 years so I guess theres something to be said for keeping it in the family! ROFL |
4 Attachment(s) I love hearing about all these stories of love!! Its so nice!! Anyway, I wanna see pictures of the happy couples.. I'll start 1. US on Christmas Eve 2. US on Halloween 3. US 4. US at Rockefeller Center |
Bobby and I met our senior year in high school. We dated and after graduation I went to college for 2 years and got an associates degree while he went into the Navy. We stayed exclusive to each other, got engaged in 1975 and married in 1976. We've had some rough spots in the last 30 years, but we've always been able to work it out and I don't regret a single minute. Our 30th anniversary is in June. |
2 Attachment(s) Met my hubby in a bar almost 10 years ago when my best friend took me to check out this band she knew. He was the lead singer. I don't remember meeting him that night although I did (and I don't drink so that wasn't it) but I remember meeting all the other members. His brother, Jimbo, the bass player, snatched me up for himself and gave me his number and begged me to call but I was in an on again off again relationship at the time so I didn't call. We ran into each other again during one of my off times. Eventually Jimbo and I dated...basically just hanging out...(nothing else!!!) on and off but I knew he wasn't the one no matter how hard he tried to convince me to be his girlfriend. I just loved hanging out with his family and he felt like a brother to me, now I know why. I seen Harry onstage many times after the first initial night and eventually he peaked my interest because I started "noticing" I would get jealous feelings when I'd see him with his girlfriend. One night we were all hanging out after a gig and the bar was closed and Bo was smashed so Harry entertained me and I FELL  Even Jimbo in his drunken stupor knew it and wished us luck. About 2 months later he left his cheater girlfriend and moved in...crazy, I know! 3 months later, on Valentine's Day :heart to, he called me up onstage in front of the entire audience, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. YES!! Crowd went crazy!! Got married 16 months later on June 19, 1999. Found out later he liked me from the first moment he saw me and can tell me exactly what I was wearing that night..the one where I don't remember him. I was his fantasy girl for a year and a half until we hooked up...still am so he says!! Will be married 7 years this year and no one could be more perfect for me!!! |
Steven and me met online too!!! I was heartbroken from a previous boyfriend and decided not to cry for him anymore so, I decided to look for a man. My fisrt option? AOL personals, of course I clicked on all the ones with pictures and then.... there he was that was a very good pic of him. I emailed him thinking that he wasn't going to email me back, but he did!!. We started emailing each other for 3 months and then came the picture exchange, well, actually, I knew how he looked like but he didn't know how I looked like. After he saw my picture he asked me out, and that is how the story started, we dated 2 years and we will be married fo 4 years on March 1st which is his birthday too, why on his b-day? so that way he doesn't forget our anniversary, he he :D :D I love him, he is my life and whole world, we have our differences like anyone else but that doesn't stops me from loving him. If I happen to see the old boyfriend that I was crying about I 'm going to thank him for dumping me, otherwise I would have never met my Steven. :p |
I met my BF in High school. We had a class together and we started talking and ended up going out on a date. We stared dating when we were 16 and now were going on 21 and still together :) :) :) |
I'm pretty sure of it. yes. He's 24 and I'm 23(next wednesday). My step- mom hasn't met him yet though, but he's got my biological familys(dad's side, no connection with the bio moms side on my part) approval. In reply to tmatherly's post. |

My husband bought a snake at my mother's pet store. He didn't care for it properly and it died. He took it back to complain and they struck up a friendship. He started coming in every afternoon after his last college class. Finally we met. We've been married almost 31 years. See how romantic a dead snake can be? |
My husband was a client of the consulting firm I work for. I spoke on the phone with him several times a week for 5 YEARS before I ever met him. I was always very intimidated by him and would always say "One minute, Mr. L., I will have my boss speak with you". Then, after 5 years of this (he never even knew I existed because I would not speak with him), his company had a big oil spill. He hired our company (we are environmental consultants) to manage the cleanup. When I finally saw him in person, he was much younger and more handsome than I had imagined! Well, suffice it to say that one year and $1 million later (that's about how much the oil cleanup cost), we were married. Oh--and I have been cleaning up his messes ever since! (We have been married for 6 years now). |
My husband and I are highschool sweethearts! If anyone remembers cruzing, that is how we met. I was cruzing the street with some friends and we kept waving and honking at 2 guys parked in a parking lot. I think we did that for about 3 weekends. Finally on weekend a guy made his fingers go "come here" and so we stopped and talked to them. I think we did this for another 3 nights until one of the guys asked me out! We dated for 3 years and have been married 23 years in June. |
1 Attachment(s) I have to start my story with a few disclaimers. I was a crazy college kid when we met and my brother and I never got along and did not hang out. When I met my husband I had just gotten out a really crappy relationship the month before and I was dating around, but kinda looking for something serious. Out of the blue my Brother  calls and invites me down to his college (rose hulman) and try some (bad stuff I did in college) at his friends place. I had nothing better to do so I took off for the 2 hour drive down there from Purdue. Needless to say I got pretty messed up and was checking the room for a hottie. There wasn't much to choice from seeing as how it's a strickly engineering school (I hope no engineers take office to that). I spotted my hubby who was by far the hottest guy in the room and went over to get something started. My hubby is painfully shy and I am very forward so this exchange was a little ackward, but I can just remember he made me feel like I was the only person in the room. And then for some reason I decided to flirt like a 5 year old boy and tried to get him to slap box me and we ended up wrestling (not in that way) on the floor for the next hour. but that was all that happened that night. Well a few weeks later my brother brought him up to Purdue for the Ohio state game. Him and my brother came over to my place and hung out the night before the game and then went to the bars, I wasn't old enough so me and my friends took off to some parties. On the way home I passed them walking back from the bars. My hubby who was very drunk at the time sat down in my car while people were chatting and my brother told me I could take him how so I did. We ended up kissing. The next morning it felt like I had know him forever and we were just completely comfortable with each other. However, I still wasn't sure I'd see him again, but then a couple days later he called me at 3 in the morning on a dare from my brother. I guess he was talking about me and my brother said you'll never call her (he's painfully shy) and so he did. He was gonna be near purdue on his way back from an interview so we actually had a real date. We been together ever since. Until we got married we were always at least 2 hours apart. We would take turns going to see each other on the weekends and we would talk everyday. We've been married for just over 3 years. Most people that see us together don't get how we work, but he lets me be me and I let him be him and it works for us. He's painfully shy and I'm loud, obnoxious, some might say annoying and has you can tell long winded. |
