Well, we lived on the same street as young kids. We were little "boyfriend/girlfriend", and would play and do everything together. (I was 8, and he was 12) Well, I moved away after about 3 years, (and we were like 2 peas in a pod during that time period) but when I moved, I never talked to him or anything after that. Well, I graduated from high school, moved back to my hometown, and low and behold, I was living back in town for less than 2 weeks, when I got beside him at a stop light. It was in July, our windows were down, he looked over at me and said "I know you". I said "yeah, you look familiar too". Said a quick name exchange, and see ya later sort of thing. A few days later, I was walking with a couple girlfriends, and here he came driving by with a buddy of his. He stopped, we talked, exchanged numbers, he called me that very night, and we haven't stopped talking a day since then...........Rest is history. |
I met my Husband at a New Years Eve Party. It was at his Fathers house, and my friend knew the family so I went with her. It was kind of funny, because my Father in Law came up to me that night and said, You're going to be my Daughter in Law, and give me a Grandson. I just laughed, and said and you're drunk! Well, I guess he was right (smart man) because two years later, I became his Daughter In Law, and five year's after that he stopped bugging me about his Grandson. I had two, both a year apart. Now next month we will have our 25th Anniversary. I guess I made the right choice, because we are still Best Friends. |

We met in a bar while I was out drinkin' with the boys ;) Seriously, my best friends were all male. Any way Mr. Wonderful actually had the ca-whonnas to come up and ask me to dance. Yea, she must be a "fun" gal, partin' with a bunch of guys "I'd had my heart squashed like a grape by someone and was just dating around...definitely not gonna like anyone ever again......so we go out a couple of times, and a couple of times I turn down his invitations cause of plans with other guys. He bugs the heck out me and the rest is history. He told me later, he was bound and determine I was going out WITH him and JUST him :D Just reinterates, nothing makes someone want ya more, than not wanting THEM back......LOL Tell ya when I realized I loved him....we'd had a argument, he shows up at my door, hands behind his back, brings one hand out holding an arrangement of flowers...says "I bought you these"....brings the other hand out and says...."and I bought you these cause I didn't know which you'd like better" :) Awwwww, sniff...LOL. Told him once it was one of the sweetest things he'd ever done....his response..."I don't remember EVER doing that"....go figure. |
Well my honey and I met 6 years ago at my cousins wedding. We exchanged numbers but never got in touch with each other (I certainly wasn't going to call!). Then last year, we re-met at HIS cousins engagement party. The minute I walked through the door, he said he was in love and knew I was the girl from the wedding 6 years ago. When he finally came over to talk to me, he described what my dress and hair looked like 6 years ago and how beautifulI was (I had braces then, c'mon now..lol). We instantly fell in love and it's going on to 4 months in a couple of weeks. We want to get engaged soon. :D He is my soulmate :p |
Well it was 1970 and I was hitchhiking home with my best friend from where are boyfriends lived in Chicago and a white van pulled up with some guys we had seen practicing for a band in the basement of the building our boyfriends lived in and my now husband was sitting in the back playing his guitar. After that he would come down and drive me home until a few weeks went by and I started dating him. Our daughter says that was my first mistake!!lol |
1 Attachment(s) I have been married for 18 years to my best friend's brother! When I was a sophomore in high school, I noticed this cute guy who helped the one and only handicapped student in a wheelchair get back and forth to class. My sister had a class with him (Seniors) and I frequently followed her to class just to get a peek. One day, my friend Cherie was talking to HIM at lunch, and I got really jealous because I thought she was moving in on my secret crush. I asked her, "who was that guy you were talking to?" as non-chalantly as I could. She said, "oh, it's just my brother, Mike..I needed money for lunch". She later told me that she sometimes didn't know who her true friends were because girls would make friends with her to meet her brother. I never told her that I had a crush on him because I wanted to be a true friend. After high school, he was engaged to be married...I always felt sick when I thought about it and whenever Cherie would bring it up. He ended up breaking off his engagement, and Cherie called me with the news. I told her, "well, if he just wants to go out and have fun-I would go out with him!" several months later I was at Cherie's hanging out and he was there. We talked for hours that day and hit it off. We started dating and have never looked back since. We were married only 5 months after our first date and still very much in love after 18 years. He is the most wonderful man in the world and I think I just knew he was the one for me, even as a young girl with a crush! |
My husband & I worked together during high school (but went to seperate schools). He wasn't my type (at the time!) & I actually hooked him up w/ my best friend! They went out for 6 months & broke up (obviously!) :D . I was off at college but we still talked online alot & then he told me he was going off to basic training for the Air Force. I got to thinking that I didn't want him to leave! Well he went off to basic & I went home for the summer & tried calling him. He was at his tech school which everyone in the military goes to after basic. This school was about 4 hrs from me. We started talking alot over the phone & I realized that I didn't want him away from me & that I had more feelings for him. He had always wanted to go out w/ me so he had the same feelings I had! And then we started the long distance thing for awhile, which sucked. But our 3 year anniversary is on Feb 21st and I couldn't be happier! :D Well that's my story! :) |
Even though it ended 10 years later in divorce, it is still a good story. I met Mathew late one night in 1995. He had just gotten into town, visiting a friend. We bumped into each other, I was coming out, he was going in. The next day, we were both at the same party, we talked a bit. Two days later, I just so happened to go to the house that he was staying at with a friend of mine. We clicked. I did not know that he was only here on vacation for Mardi Gras. He canceled all of his plans for the rest of the trip and we spent everyday together, I was 17 he was 21. (He looked like Brad Pitt in the movie Legends of the Fall (he still looks like Brad Pitt).) He ended up not going back home for 2 years and only then to just pick up some of his things. We married in 2003. Our divorce will be final this year. :p All of these stories give me hope that one day, I will find love again! :) |
So here is a funny story that if you knew the relationship would seem all to fitting (lets just say Brian and I have been on and off for 4 years and it has been pretty tumultuous)...So here it goes... Brian and I first met at school, and I thought nothing much of him and pretty much ignored him...Well at a school social at a local bar one night he pretty much was my shadow. I got pretty drunk, okay wasted, and he decided he was going to be a gentleman and "help me get home" and jumped into my taxi, upon arriving at my apartment, I puked on him violently for about 10 minutes and my roomate woke up, kicked him out of the house, and he was forced to walk to his own apartment 3 miles away covered in vomit at about 3 in the morning...The rest is history! |
Just gotta say, I love this thread, I'm such a sucker for a good love story, especially a real one. :luvu: |

Thats too funny! :D :p |
Dan & I were a blind date, in Sept '83. I thought I was going on a girls nite out with my best friend, when I got there, there sat her boyfriend & a friend of his. We all went out & had a great time, we went out for several weeks as a group before we just went out by ourselves. He officially asked me out in the end of Nov '83 and we dated for a long time, we were married Oct 9,1993. So we have been together for a really long time.... Desiree :) |
