OH WOW! That's CRAZY! I've been getting many im-s lately from people that I don't even know. I just put them on my ignore list...but this is SCARY! |
i get some too from msn messanger, but they go to my e-mail  , and guess what... i havent used that program in YEARS SolnzeUSB had some very good ideas about how the info could have been taken. I never even thought about those bogus e-mails that you get from yahoo or ebay, or other companies asking about passwords  In my teenage days i used to be heavily into all that messanger stuff and you have to be really areful abotu what you tell people. A lot of times you may give information and not know it, just like SolnzeUSB said. talk to your daughter about it and see what has happened recently to warrent this kind of "personal attack".... also, i find it odd that the person actually TOLD your daughter that she wasnt going to be able to use her account anymore and stuff, wouldnt you think that they would just do it and be done with it instead of telling the person exactly what they are going to do? (i dunno, does this seem odd to anyone else?) |
That is scary!!! Did you call your local law enforcement? I sure would! This world is full of nuts!!! |

Well My sister inlaw was checking out that ladys profile when she poped up on her Yahoo. My sis inlaw would not talk to her cause she said if she did she would then be added. and she she sent her a message saying talk to me B...............................Hopefully Yahoo takes care of it. |
Oh i forgot I will ask my daughter if she got any thing about the password in her email when she gets home from work. |
Be careful out there That’s so scary. I am so sorry this happened to your family. :( My friend has advised me long ago not to give out personal information on the internet for registration or whatever. Once your name, birth day, address, phone number, ect. get into the wrong hands, they could easily mess up your credit, too. Identity theft is a very serious problem but it’s also very difficult to stop from what I have heard so far. It’s horrible but it is a very scary world out there. Not everyone has good intentions on the internet. :( I won’t have a public profile listed by Yahoo or Google or anything for that matter. There is a way to opt-out on the public listings. Not to say you will be safe unlisted but safer I guess. Thanks for posting so we could be on the look out for it. Be careful out there! |
Yikes!!!! That is very scary! Good luck getting this cleared up!!!! |
Debbie - I am so sorry this happened to you and your daughter. This is so scary and sad! I highly suggest that when you sign up for Yahoo! mail, that you DO NOT use your real birthday or real zipcode - pick a new one and write it down so you can use it if you need to retreive your password. It is so easy to get your e-mail address stolen. All you need is the person's birthday, zipcode and secret question answer. The question could sometimes be "What is your pet's name?" or "What is your hometown?" These questions are VERY easy to answer and that's how things like this happen. I don't even use Yahoo! mail anymore because I think the security protection sucks. Anyone can pretend that they are you and that they've "forgotten" their password. |
Wow, that is really creepy. Why would someone even bother to go through all of that trouble? Weird. I hope you figure this out and she gets caught! |
I talked to my fiance about this and i guess it is really EASY to have this happen. From what he told me (and i was only barely comprehending so forgive me if i got it backwords) but anyways, from the time your daughter pmed her back this person had access to youre computer . My fiance said yes even files could be stolen  (which would be how she got her picture OR she could have gotten it when you sent it to her on the yahoo thing- read down about the logs) and they probably had a keystroke log so that they could see EVERYTHING that your daughter was typing, which would explain how this person knew about your conversations together AND how she got your daughters password... she needed to know the sn name (which is public) and then directly after that would be her password... and all this would show up in the log that this person set up. I asked him if we were in danger of this same thing and he said we have enough firewalls and detection programs that we are not really.... anyways, just thought i would share what i learned ;) |
