So what'd ya'll collect?????

As an admitted junk-o-holic, wonder if anyone else had an addiction to collecting something not yorkie related? Here's a few of mine....
Yelloware bowls, vintage rolling pins, wooden spoons, butter spoons/paddles, crocks. Yep, all the necessaties for Betty Crocker, too bad she doesn't live here. Also collect antique oil lamps so she can see if she ever comes over.

Anyone else?????

Well, I love antiques! I just recently got my hubby's granny's singer sewing machine...also love the Lane antique Siamese Lamps. I currently have 3 and am working on adding a couple of more pieces.

I use to collect Hummels and Lladros but got out of those. I've got a nice collection and a couple of REALLY nice pieces. Guess I could always sell those when it comes time for kids to go to college! :D

Ok, Kimberly, you're a gal after my heart. I have my grandmother's sewing machine. I have quite a few pieces that were in the family. I have a table that my great grandmother had that she traded eggs for. ;) Can you post a picture of the lamps, not sure what those are. As far as selling....my dd thinks I like OLD junky stuff, definitely not her taste (now anyway)....I've told her....honey, when I'm gone, you can have one heck of an estate sale. With the exception of three couches and side chairs, my entire house is decorated completely in antiques. Antiques have been an obsession since I was 20 and most could be purchased for much much less than their value today. I have bowls in my yelloware collection that cost me orginally 20 bucks....they range in the 300 dollar range. My friends used to think I was nuts for buying stupid bowls. I just always liked them :)

I have a lot of really old Hummels, They were my Mom's, when she passed away I put all the boxes in the room under the stairs. I have no idea what I'm going to do with them. I hope the kids will enjoy them when they have their own homes. :) I'm in no hurry, I have two in Pre Med, and two in High School. So they have to finish that first. I'd be scared to put them at our Daughters home, our Grandson is now walking, and she has one on the way. :)
Hold on to them, from what I heard the older they are the more they are worth. And College, oh my, we just paid $225.00 for one book!

I collect Hallmark ornaments. My husband isn't too crazy about them but they're only out for a short time each year. My Christmas tree is really loaded, but very beautiful. I also collect the stuffed historical dolls by Hallmark, but I only buy them when I go to the flea markets, not on e-Bay.

I collect antique children's toys. I have 3 small oak kitchen cupboards with dishes and an old spice set. I have an old children's laundry set with the wringer, washboard, iron, clothes pins, and a rack to hang your clothes on.

I just finished a collection of toy antique nursery rhyme dishes. They were made about 1900 and have alot of different pieces.

I also collect Sabino glass which is an opalescent glass in the shape of birds, butterflies, and vases. It's pretty expensive so I don't add to this collection very often.

I love to shop on e-bay and have really gotten some good buys for my collections. I love to collect!!! (It's figuring out where to put it after I buy it that's fustrating!!!!)

BamaFan121s 01-25-2006 09:57 AM

As un-girly as I am, I collect very girly stuff.
Beanie Babies-I think I'm pushing 500 now
Pocket Dragons-OK, so I just started collecting them and I only have 1 :(
Disney Snowglobes-we get one each time we go to Disney World, which is 1-2 times a year, we have 6 now

StewiesMom 01-25-2006 09:58 AM

Actually I collect framed butterflies, magnets from anywhere Ive been and I used to collect rocks and I still have some displayed about the house. I like anything unique and natural so I collect lots of fun things :p

Kari 01-25-2006 10:10 AM

Anything dragonfly....i even have a tattoo of one on the back of my neck. and Kermit the Frog stuff

bchgirl 01-25-2006 10:16 AM

I started a Hallmark ornament collection for dd. I've purchased one a year for her and when she moves away, she'll have ornaments. I wanted Hallmark ornaments when we started out, but couldn't afford them....so I made our ornaments. Now everything on my tree, and it's loaded, is hand made.

I love, love, love ebay but have only added a few pieces from my purchases there. Most of mine were gotten the "old" way...ya went to estate sales, yard sales, antique shops and hunted those puppies down. What I like to do on eBay....is search for seller's who don't realize WHAT they have or have placed it a catagory that collector's of "whatever" don't normally search. Love those finds :)

I collect those little silver spoons you get when you travel from all the places I've been. Like some, I've got a good dust bunny collection going on. Some bills...... I've got about 5 bankers boxes full of beanies that we collected for my daughter, she doesn't want them in her room but she won't let me get rid of them either. I tried to hand them out at Halloween but she blocked it. Maybe next year. I used to collect carousel horses.

Well, I am a dope. I never realized that siamnese lamps meant literally the cat, duh. LOL. They're cute :)

When we were kids, my mother had the most God awful lamps....they were of bull fighters. I looked at pictures from our childhood and still laugh when one of them is in the shot. My parents also had a console record player....you know a stereo in a big cabinet. Always swore when I grew UP I was GONNA have one of those...ha. Who knew what you played on them would be obsolete

Patti 01-25-2006 11:30 AM
