Not sure where to put this, so just putting it here.

I don't know who is doing the tags on these posts lately, but they always stick out and I thought this morning to take the time to say that perhaps reading how tags work might be helpful. It is nice someone has the time to do them, but the large majority are simply useless.

For example:
A person started a thread entitled "breathe" which has nothing to do with breathing. There is a tag "breathe". I don't know who would search for "breathe" anyway .... if a dog was having breathing issues they might search f or breathing problems or something like that, but breathe? And if they did, the thread would give them no information about breathing.

I see these tags constantly....virtual waste of time.

I am sure if you google tagging there is a wealth of info. Basically you just need to think, "what would a person look for that would find here that is helpful".

Thanks for posting. Interesting and I had no idea we could even do a tag.

I don’t think I’ve ever put a tag on a post here ... or, at least, I’ve done so very rarely. There are web sites, though, that require tags whenever one starts a new topic or thread, so I would guess that many people are used to adding them.

The example you mentioned, the thread titled “breathe” was, I think, a typo. I suspect the poster meant “breath” as in “bad breath” — which would have suited the question better.

I realize it was a typo...but there is a tag "breathe" which is dumbfounding to me.

All of the threads don't have tags....these have been put there by someone for some time. I meant to say something a few times and got sidetracked....this one was SO obvious that I decided to say something. It is just that someone is wasting time because the tags they are adding honestly quite frequently make no sense.
