Coping And Comfort Food During Covid 19 What coping skills and comfort foods are you using occasionally to weather times of boredom or worry during this pandemic? Pizza is my favorite food but I've yet to order any. Dying for a slice of pepperoni pizza! Did splurge on an Edwards Key Lime Pie last month but only eat a slice every 2 weeks or so - keeps well in the freezer. It's sickeningly sweet so you can't take much at once! Have splurged on Little Debbie Honey Buns to have occasionally for breakfast They're little but go a long way. Mostly walking and exercising to stay active. Haven't binge-watched anything yet but "McMillions", documentary and mystery shows. Nights I use an audio book to send me off to sleep. |
Yeah I could go for a pizza too. Actually I have been stress eating just about anything available, And buying a lot of stuff that I don’t normally eat like mostly junk food although I have tried a few new recipes which I kind of like. But it’s bad because it’s good which makes me eat way too much. Edwards pies love them all can eat the whole thing in a day And thank you now I want pizza and pie |

The preparation for washing, storing all those fresh veggies and fruits, storing them properly so they don't rot, go brown or soft, is harrowing though, a whole lot of work after you unpack your groceries. So is the slicing to get large vegetables small enough to blend well. But, once the prep is over, the rest is easy. |
Gosh that sounds good! I will def have to try that. Love smoothies too. Yum. Just being lazy now, lol. |
Gosh that sounds good! I will def have to try that. Love smoothies too. Yum. Just being lazy now, lol.[/QUOT Lazy is another great coping tool I use often. Love a day in PJ's, sweats or whatever comfies I have, minimal make-up/hair, just relaxing and napping all day, occasional snacking. Takes away the jitters. |
Great idea for a thread. My DH and I are watching an episode of Breaking Bad each night. Never saw it the first time around. We have mostly been following the AIP (autoimmune protocol) diet so eating pretty well. It I go off of it is usually cheese or something like that. |
After 12 or 13 years of satellite TV, my DirecTV picks now to start having satellite problems. Noticed a bit of pixilization or notices that part of DVR'd program didn't record due to "signal loss", discounted bits of it to local rain in the area(it is Spring) but today it's bright, sunny, not a cloud in the entire sky and some channels started pixilating, getting message of satellite loss! Technician set to come out tomorrow from 8 - 12 and I'm worried. Phone customer service technician said satellite just likely needs reassigning outside but what if they need to come in the house? I'll be masked and gloved but, automatically assuming, for safety's sake, both I and the techs have active virus in our noses, mouths, eyes. on hands, faces, clothing, shoes, etc., and we must all be in my home, how long after techs leaving B4 it's safe to enter the room to wipe everything down with disinfectant? And before I can remove my mask, my gloves, my clothes, shoes and throw everything including my clogs, in the washing machine and shower? I know times are hard and even tragic for so many of us but YIKES, I'd so sar managed to stay relatively isolated until this. Now it gets real. |
I'm definitely going to need a pepperoni pizza tomorrow night!!!!!!!! |

YUUUUUM! PIZZZZZZA! Funny. I have been thinking about Pizza for 3 days now. Ha Ha |
Another coping skill for me is Facetiming friends when I am thinking about them since most of us are home all the time now. |
Up a pound...... DO NOT each Chili AND Pizza Rolls in the same day..... |
Turns out the DirecTV tech was able to make a slight adjustment to the satellite dish outside and he never had to come inside. His boss called me that evening to give me his phone # in case any more problems. Glad to say, the pixelated channels now back to normal and no stressing over extra germs in the house! |

Ice cream has been our go to since we have been sequestered. I usually eat chocolate but I've switched to vanilla with caramel topping. 5 nights a week we end our day with a bowl. I wonder how we will feel about ice cream a year from now. Will it be a good memory or a bad memory? |
We broke down and had pizza 2 nights ago. Yummm. Tonight I made some homemade Mac and cheese.Yummmm. Need to go find the thread about exercising/weight loss. |

Finally got my pizza!!!! Had to go to the doctor today and then stopped by a near-by Dominoes Pizza take-out for a large double pepperoni pizza pie and side garden salad. Came home, shed shoes, clothing into the washing machine, washed up, grabbed a robe, sat down and devoured 2 fabulous slices and a good 1/4th of the salad. Wanted a third slice when my stomach let me know that another bite would make me sick but I still craved more of that glorious stuff. Had to brew a fresh cup of coffee, add sugar and creamer to end the craves! I had wanted pizza for so long it was painful to stop eating it after I finally got it here, even though my stomach couldn't hold another half teaspoon of anything. That was hours ago and I'm still full to the brim! One of the best pizzas I've ever had and the freezer is full of the leftovers. Yum! Pizza is one of the wonders of the world. :droolin: |
Mmmmmm! |
It WAS mmmmmmmmmm-y. :D |
No, was so hungry by the time I remembered I needed to order it early due to wait time I ate something else. Now feel I cheated myself so hopefully this weekend a large, double pepperoni cheese pizza, sizzling, smelling of all those yummy things and so filling and comforting, is coming my way. And I have more room in the freezer for the leftovers than I did last weekend![/QUOTE Sounds delicious. We broke down and ordered pizza a few nights ago. Tasted great but the flour was tough on me the next day. Oh well, live and learn. |
I buy fresh produce almost every week and yesterday, to use up my store of canned soups, added fresh baby carrots, fresh cut up celery, cauliflower florets to a can of creamed celery soup with a can of water in a saucepan, cooked just a bit it until the produce just softened, added pepper and bit of paprika and bit of spring mix pies to top of it and enjoyed w/small side of tuna/spring mix salad. So hot, thick and good! |
Food related and has given much comfort -- pulled out my dehydrator and got busy -- processed 25 - 30 lbs of beef into yummy delicious jerky -- dehydrated and powdered a wide assortment of veges - spinach, kale, broccoli, tomato, mushroom, tough ends from asparagus and my most favorite jalapeno. Also cooked dry beans - pintos that were powdered for refried beans and garbanzos --some of which were powdered to add to soups and stews and some that were coated with dry ranch seasoning and jalapeno powder for snacking. --and today, trying for the first time sour cream - a great addition to homemade salad dressings, soups, stews, etc. |
Wow! You got industrious! P. S. #22 post: Phone rang, forgot to mention yesterday's celery soup also had half a chopped apple and frozen kernel corn, tad of extra extra virgin olive oil. |
Good eats Hi Yorkietalkjilly! I always enjoy your posts! Pizza is my fav too! I'm out in Calif. I see you are in Texas. This virus has changed our lives. My friend made me a mask with doggies on it. So cute. We must be content no matter what the situation. The Lord knows what's happening. We are to be trusting Him, our provider. So eat that pizza and know you are loved and surrounded by angels! |
