I love yorkietalk!

Haven't done this in way too long. I absolutely :heart48: LOVE :heart48: YorkieTalk. I am a part of many on-line communities and YT is by far the best and most incredible group of individuals!!!

In 2004 I became the 194th member of YT. Over the many years that I have been part of this incredible family I have made a ton of friends many of whom I have become close personal friends with and visit regularly in addition to being on-line buds.

In 2009 we had our first (and only) International YorkieTalk Meetup in Alexandria, VA and I was blessed to be a part of that incredible meeting of YT members both human and Yorkie. What fun it was to take over the hotel for a weekend with our furkids!!!!

Sadly some of our beloved human members are now at the Rainbow Bridge - the only comfort is knowing that they have the company of the many precious furkids that are there waiting for their owners.

There were a few very special years when many of us would meet each night in Chat. We even had one member whose was in the chat room went to the hospital and had her chat time interrupted by delivering a beautiful baby girl. Another time a group of us stayed up most of the night talking to a YTer who was contemplating suicide. There have been more times than I can count that generous YTers would dig deep into their pockets to help other members in need. So many happy times doing so many fun things as a community - and some sad times gathering around and supporting those who suffered losses.

Back in 2010, I had a very bad 4-wheeler accident - my YT family surprised me several get well phone calls just after I came out of emergency surgery. They were so generous - I received a beautiful fruit basket in addition to the plethora of cards, pms and emails.

Fun times doing Gift Exchanges, helping with rescue events, helping to educate new owners. :yorkietal

So nice to come to a safe place where all we want to talk about is our loving furkids

matese 09-22-2017 02:14 AM

I too have tested the waters of other yorkie groups, IMO YT is by far the best with knowledgeable and most importantly , loving, caring members.

ladyjane 09-22-2017 04:15 AM

It really is a great forum and full of great information about the breed.

I have made many wonderful friends on this forum.

Yes, it is wonderful to have a "safe" place where we can all talk about our furkids.

Many of us have made great life long internet friendships that have morphed into talking on the phone friendships and onto let's meet in person.

Jay another "YorkieTalk International Meet Up" like the one in 2009 would be incredible. It was an amazing activity to be a part of. :D I have enjoyed your company and that of Cali at so many dog shows - just not enough down time to sit and visit!

yorkiemini 09-24-2017 10:13 AM

I, too, think a meet-up would be great! Wonder about the hotel in Louisville where they held the YTCA Roving Dog show (Crowne Plaza right across the highway from the airport) would work for something like that? They were very dog friendly! I don't know anything about organizing something like that, but maybe we need a thread to see how many would actually be interested.

Betty, you are 100% correct. YT is a constant in the lives of it's members - we come and go and come back again, and YT is still here. It is like YT is a living entity constantly morphing with new members and yet unchanging in it's commitment to its members.

I especially love to see pics of everyone’s yorkies

It just brings back so many fun memories of all the gals and a few guys -AlaskaYorkie-Mike and some assorted SO's and spouses. We were quite the force running around with our yorkies in tow all dressed to the 9's. There were other guests besides the YT folks and we definitely created some excitement. The newspaper did a story on us and if I remember correctly, one of the local TV stations dropped by.

Rachael1983 09-25-2017 04:14 AM

I enjoy the group as well. I've been in some groups and they weren't very friendly and they cliquish! I don't necessarily see that here. Most can agree to disagree or move past a post when it looks heated.

I felt support when Troy was sick and found a breeder here when I got Emma. I find the site to be a good resource and some have become real friends even without ever having met them in person!

YT is amazing - I consider YT one big huge family. I am so glad you felt surrounded by love when you needed support. I, too have felt that in the past.

Sadly, many of YT's long standing, very experienced members have chosen not to post here any longer because they didn't experience the "agree to disagree" respectfully YorkieTalk tradition.

I am reaching out to some of the "oldies but goodies" who are MIA in hopes that they will "come home" and start posting and participating in some of the fun activities life Gift Exchanges and the off topic games.

I am sorry, but I disagree with this comment. No one has ever been treated unfairly on this forum. They didn't agree to disagree...it had nothing to do with not "experiencing" it. It was all in their acceptance of rules. Many of them wanted to make this forum what they wanted and they simply could not succeed so they grabbed their marbles and left. The others...well Facebook has taken the place of online forums.

Some left after the ME mess....we all remember her and the havoc she wreaked. Many followed that hateful woman and went to other "nice" forums that all failed. Why? Because they really were not "nice" to all...they all had their little agendas. YT has always been one of the more balanced forums. We ALL have had our little issues here....I have been suspended for things that I felt were unfair...but, at the end of the day I had to learn to follow the rules. I don't make them.

Good luck with bringing folks back....most of them have chosen to stay on Facebook...it is a trend thing more than anything. They all have "excuses" but at the end of the day that is ALL it is...excuses. I have seen some come back and leave again...heck I even do it. I get busy and don't post for a while and suddenly feel badly about it and come back.

I don't know who your "oldies but goodies" are....I think that new and old are all "goodies". Everyone who chooses to post here is a "goodie" .... we may not all agree with one another, but we all have one common love...that of the yorkie breed.

It certainly cannot hurt to reach out to people and try to bring them back, but, not with an "agenda". YT is not going to change to suit any of us. It is what it is....and I believe it is a very well run forum. We are very lucky that Admin, Jenny, and Ann have stuck it out even during the slow years.... and the absolutely insane ones.

I understand and respect your right to disagree and hope that you will do the same. There is no agenda on my part other than to encourage members that I cared for very much to return to YT. I would like to see YT return to the forum where 100's of active members participated and contributed regularly, each in their own way.

I do agree that everyone who posts here is a definitely a "goodie". The "Oldies but Goodies" referred to the many YTers who were active during YTs very early days including those of us who met in chat almost every evening, regularly participated in Gift Exhanges and those of us that organized and participated in the 2009 Meetup. I sincerely apologize if any of my comments offended you :p.

And I definitely agree that YT has an incredible staff - Admins, Moderators, and Technical personnel. THE BEST!!

In fact that is why I started this thread -- because :yorkietal !

ladyjane 09-25-2017 08:47 AM

It does indeed rule.

I was not saying that you have an agenda. I was just saying if they come back in order to try to change things (which is an agenda) then they will end up disappointed is all. If that is indeed the reason they left, I hardly think they will like it more now.

Personally, I think the focus is a good one. If you can stimulate discussions, that's all good. :)

chattiesmom 09-25-2017 08:53 AM

One of the absolute best things about YorkieTalk is that it is an ever changing evolving entity.

I do know for a fact that many of our members now choose to post on other venues rather than YT. I am sure that each has their own reason and it isn't my place to speculate as to their individual reasons. I miss many of my YT family members and personal friends who are YTers and would love to have them back.

Britster 09-26-2017 12:11 PM

I do really miss the comradery of forums which is why I try to stick around. I go through phases where I post more or don't post as much. Facebook makes life easier in certain ways- sharing photos is super easy and it's all done through my simple FB app on my iphone. But there's something so much more personal about a forum. I find comments get lost quickly on FB threads. I do wish it could be busier again like when I first joined in 2008 (I'm sure I missed even more from the earlier years). I enjoy being able to look back at old threads and also it's kind of like a journal for Jackson's life... going through old posts and being able to see our journey since he was a pup!

Brit, your sentiments have been expressed to me time and time again by FBers who are also YTers. I am trying very hard to encourage members who have gravitated away from YT for any number of reasons to return and be part of the family. It was truly a wonderful period in YT's life when there were dozens of members active at almost any time of the day or night. Currently there are six (6) active members.

Copied and posted from "What's going on" at the bottom of the forums page.

Most YorkieTalk members ever online was 227, on 03-08-2009 at 6:48PM PDT. -- I was there and it was incredible.

YT is and always has been the GREATEST yorkie forum ever. I would just love to see active members in the 100's rather than in the less than 10 range.

Rachael1983 09-26-2017 01:17 PM

I have high periods and low periods on YT, usually because of work. I do like when the forum was busy because it was lots to read and I loved seeing pictures of the pups and learning something new. I'm not on many FB groups but that's just because I'm rarely on social media. I do think YT is a release for me during my work day sometimes :)

mizzwanned 10-10-2017 01:21 AM

Wow I haven't been here in so long and I miss it :( I was a member back from 2006-2010. I think when my girls died I lost my will to post here. I was depressed about Sophie's passing . May I ask who here that has passed? I wonder if it's anyone I know. Hope everyone's okay

wemple2 10-12-2017 04:59 PM

I'm still here on occasion...usually looking for advise since Winston became ill. I remember and miss the old times, old friends...but am always open to new times and new friends!!! Yes FaceBook has become my nightly unwind time but I don't think I have even mentioned Winston not feeling well on there...only here. I just feel safe here and I know that the advise I get here will be honest and true...thanks YorkieTalk for still being here for me as Winston and I travel through the "golden years" of life.

AbbysMom08 10-12-2017 08:47 PM

I too haven't been on here as much as I used to be.
Not for any particular reason.
I always enjoyed reading all of the posts on this forum.
There were always many very helpful, knowledgeable and caring people here.
It would be nice if it became as active as it used to be.
