Best Christmas Gift Ever From Hubby
 

I got the most awesome gift and must share :love:!

As many of you know, we're fostering a little chihuahua (Artie) for the shelter where I volunteer. This little guy is the sweetest thing - and he just immediately bonded with me for some reason. He is very scared of most people and may have been abused/punished in the past. But for some reason, I swear he thinks I invented oxygen or something...I don't know why he so bonded with me. I just love the little guy.

Anyway, I've been feeling so anxious/worried/conflicted about adopting him out to someone bc I feel like it'll be just another abandonment for him to go through, and it breaks my heart to think of putting him through that -- and it also just kills me to picture handing him over to some stranger who may not understand him and his issues. But we already have 3 dogs, and never planned on adding a fourth dog - so it's caused me a lot of anxiety and worry to think about his unknown future.

Last night, we opened our Christmas presents...and inside this huge box from my hubby was a Gucci sunglasses case. My first thought, lol, was "why is he buying me designer sunglasses that I've never even tried on?" - and plus I'm not a designer sunglasses person anyway, so I was a little puzzled. Inside the Gucci box was a little silver box...and inside of that box were some dog ID tags - and I couldn't figure out what they were for....and then Tony said "I called the shelter last week and met with the adoptions manager, and Artie is now officially our dog, forever" -- OMG -- I burst into tears and couldn't even talk for a bit bc I was so touched and happy!

My hubby is such a loving little sneak! He just knew there was no way I'd be able to let Artie go, bc I just love him so much. So he just went ahead and made it happen. He was additionally sneaky bc during our earlier golf cart ride to look at the Xmas lights, we were talking a bit about Artie and he said "he'll find a good home" -- and I was all "I can't even talk about it right now" -- and I was thinking "oh, he's made up his mind and doesn't want Artie long term" - when all along Artie was already ours!

Just the best gift ever :)!

Ann.....Your story brought tears to my eyes and I'm crying like a baby. I think that is so great of your husband to do esp on Christmas. What a great guy! They know us better than we think they do. :) Artie is one lucky boy and I'm glad he has his forever home now! I don't think I could ever foster because I would never let the animals go and then I would be called a hoarder of animals and the state would be after me lol. :D Merry Christmas!
