Of course, cut down on salt....if that is an issue with you! |
Another quick update. Still not feeling great...the pain isn't as bad as that first night, but still bad enough to keep me from sleeping or getting anything done during the day. With the exception of doing the necessities for the kids and dog, I'm pretty much in bed. The doctors did tell me it may take up to a week to start feeling close to normal, and my medication reads that I will feel cruddy on it for up to a week as well. Honestly, feeling a little blue today. I am just so over feeling this bad. I could handle it if I was just feeling under the weather, but four+days of this intense pain is taking its toll on my mood. Thanks again for your well wishes, they really do help boost my spirits. |

Well, how about just spoiling yourself with some downtime to let those meds kick in? It sucks being debilitated by any sort of illness/condition, I know. However, I found that state of mind goes a long way towards helping. For example, when I can't sleep and I've been up for 48 hours straight or I'm down with a cold, I sort of self talk positive emotion like, "Well, to heck with the house, studying, cooking, etc. I'm awake, I can't do anything about it but I can control what I do whilst I'm awake/ill and I deserve to read that new book, or watch that show I've been meaning to watch and this is only temporary.." It makes me feel better to focus my attention on the things I can control.. Good luck and feel better x |
bobbi Bobbi, I am going to pray for you a lot today. I have you in my heart and mind. It is so hard to not be able to do the things we are used to do. Somehow we must just rest and go with the flow. This will pass. It is tough trying to find contentment in difficult circumstances. You will get better. Use this time to relax, not think of all the things you could be doing just lay there and think of all the blessings you have been given and give thanks. Try to stay positive. My little yellow canary flew to heaven this am. I am so sad. Yet that song goes on. Your beautiful life of song will continue, whether you are up or down. In all things we are to give thanks, I laid in bed for 8 months with cancer. Somehow taking one day at a time, I was able to make it. We Yorkie friends will carry you in our prayers. You are loved and of course your Yorkie will bring lots of love! |
Soooo scary. Such a horrible feeling. I had a friend who suffered terrible migraines. She got some kind of medication from doctor but she also started getting botox - which was actually originally used to help migraines. She said it helped her a lot. |

Can't stop smiling right now! Another quick update...so, it's been rough, to say the least. My pain got way, way worse again after coming home from the ER. when I was there, I was given rx for BP medication, three different pain medications to try, and an anti-nausea. I was still having paralyzing migraines all day, every day trying to find the right med balance. Tonight, thankfully, I have gotten some relief for the first time in five days. I'm not sure how long it will last and it took a hefty dose of medication (2 Tramadol and two Excedrin Migraine at the same time), but it's the first time I've been able to think clearly and move around well. Hopefully this is the beginning of actually healing! Another good thing...my BP seems to be regulating well on my new medication. |
Bobbi, my migraines started in pretty much the same manner yours did. We tried different meds (I too had/have high blood pressure and smoked.) The most effective prescription drug I have taken is Treximet. It usually works within an hour and I rarely have had to take it more than once. After several years we moved and my migraine have pretty much gone away. We found out that inside the wall behind our headboard was covered with mold! THAT can cause migraines. You might want to check it out. Please do stop smoking - it is another cause as are certain foods. You might want to get allergy tested. I'm just thowing ideas at you but I know when I was in your shoes I cried for help! Only someone who has suffered migraines knows how you feel. I pray you find the relief you need and a cause for these attacks. |
