It snowed here today too! I tested my generator a couple of weeks ago, and stocked up on candles and lighters, after my power went out when someone hit a utility pole. It reminded me of last years ice storm when many people in the area were without power for over a week. I need to pack my car trunk with emergency winter supplies tomorrow. Mini shovel, tub kitty litter/salt mix, my emergency blankets and garbage bags, old coat, boots, hat and gloves, and handwarmers, as well as a coat and boots for ZoE. I dislike winter more and more every year :( |
I'm also from WNY but have not gotten hit with the snow that Buffalo is getting. I live closer to Ellicottville where they love it for the ski resorts. We are already burning through the wood with this cold though!! |

They were just saying how the SKI Country is not getting it..so weird isn't it? it is so hard to believe, a 1/4 of a mile down has NOTHING etc...the storm has stalled and now things are getting crazy. West Seneca is buried and Southside of Buffalo completely buried, like really buried, can't find the cars etc...Governor is sending in help and now the Cheektowaga (near the Walden Galleria and Airport) is asking for anyone with a plow to come out and help....this may go down as the worst storm or in the top five...with the storm being stalled its hard to say what is going to happen.... There is a Travel Ban in all of Erie County NY now....It is 11degrees here right now so shoveling is very difficult. There are many stranded in their homes the snow is so high but they are going to be going around shoveling out doors etc, many people are already out helping neighbors, but its coming down just as fast as they clear it. |
That is just hard to imagine..... sorry for all those affected. Stay safe and warm and hope the big blast moves on soon. |
I am sooooo not ready for snow. Had 1/2 inch Saturday that froze on my deck. Much to early for me for snow, yuck. Hope it doesn't travel my way as I have not seen it predicted for NE Pa. but one never knows. |

Things are dire, there are entire houses buried, people stranded 24 hrs plus in their cars, they have found a 46 year old dead in his car, some areas have 6 feet of snow with drifting 12 plus feet high....payloaders etc, are even getting stuck. Another big storm is coming through tonight so they HAVE TO GET THESE PEOPLE QUICKLY. National Guard etc., but with so much snow it is a difficult task... There is some crazy ass warm front coming Monday with 60+ temps and we not only have to get people out but get the snow trucked OUT because of serious flooding problems, its absolutely chaos severely under reported and the emergencies are getting worse at this point. |

I have lived in WNY my entire life and consider us a hearty group of people with regards to winters. Last winter was rough but primarily because it was long and we had the coldest temperatures recorded in decades. But this is state of emergency winter weather. It is awful, just awful. I saw on the news this morning the 5th victim to die in this storm was the 46 year old spoken about...his car was buried under a 15 FOOT SNOW DRIFT! :( Sad. All of the people stranded on the thruway must be running out of gas if aren't already after 28+ hours with single digit temperatures it is BAD. Lynzy420: Typically we see the worst of the weather but this time we are not seeing what you are...and we are about 30 minutes away. It's so strange. I really hope you are safe and get relief soon. Prayers are definitely needed! With the shift in weather this weekend it could get even worse... |
Still sending lots more prayers to all. Seeing the reports on tv is shocking and sad. It's just crazy how it is all dumping in one area, and others have nothing. |
Thing of you Lynzy and everyone up north caught in this horrific storm, praying you stay safe and warm tonight. |
I truly can't even imagine this much snow. I saw a "drone" video on Facebook that is so amazing. Hope this link works for those of you who are interested: Drone shows view from inside the crazy #Snovember storm |

1 Attachment(s) Saw this on Twitter! Can you imagine a Yorkie faced with all that snow??? He'd do his best to try to get up and over it somehow! You all and your babies up NorthEast keep safe and warm! |
Yoo Hoo, Lynzy girl, please check in and let us know how you are doing. I'm still in awe of the amount of snow, and praying for the safety of all. |
Just checking....Sandy, Lisa and co.....is it correct that you've had snow in Hawaii and Florida too? Or should I never trust the BBC again? xxx |
Oh, goodness! Sending lots of prayers and good thoughts up there. The pictures are stunningly beautiful. It's hard to imagine how such beauty can present such a dire state of emergency for all. Incredible, beautiful and sad all at the same time. Stay safe. |

You made me think of when we first brought Teddy home and had an accumulation of wet snow, about a foot. Teddy was so lightweight that he could run on top of it without sinking. |
haha. But that poor black dog in the picture sure looks like he wishes he could get out to that tree across the way to hike his leg! Tibbe is small enough that I think all I'd have to do is lift him up on top of that pile of snow and he'd go find a place to do his business and run back to me. One of the advantages of having a Yorkie! Praying that your power stays on and there are no more roof collapses, wrecks or deaths. |

Still looking for an update from Lynzy. Buffalo has now hit an all time national record for snow in 24 hrs https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v...184775&fref=nf |
