Sirva I got my flu shot on August 31st. My nursing student dd has to get one, so last year and this year I decided to get one too. Last year I never got sick, and hoping I have another good year. But, this year, my shoulder still hurts in the arm I got my shot. So I googled it to see if there is a connection and came across SIRVA; shoulder injury related to vaccine administration. It's very painful so I am thinking technique is very important. It was the pharmacist who gave me my shot. Same guy as last year and at them time the shot wasn't painful, so I am not really questioning him. Just my dumb lick I guess. ETA when I googled it, it sounded common with the flu vaccine. Probably one of those fine print side affects. |
Sirva Thanks for the info, I had never heard of that flu shot side effect. I am sorry that you were the victim of this and have so much pain. I was thinking of getting mine at the pharmacist, but perhaps I will instead go to my doc where the nurses are hopefully more skilled. You got yours early as here they have only been available for just over a week. |
I am getting mine around the 10th of October. I have alway's gotten mine at my Pharmacy. It doesn't cost me anything as my Insurance pay's full coverage for it. |

I'm so surprised at just how many people get the flu shot, wow :). I never get the shot, and haven't had the flu in...I dunno...20 years or more? Guess I better knock on wood, eh? It never used to be all that recommended for "healthy" people...it used to be more for the sick/elderly etc...but that all changed in 2010 when they started recommending it for all - so I guess it's a good sign that people really did hear that new message/recommendation. |

I got the shot yesterday and my arm is sore. Next week Im going to take my 14 yr old daughter to get it and Im dreading it. The reaction she has to shots is just crazy and she scares the techs and they dont want to give her the shot. I may send My Husband with her for the shot she wont act out like that with him with her. |

My doctor says most people don't get the flu shot until they had the flu then they won't miss it. It is honestly like death it's not just a cold it's so much worse and caused me to have some serious side effects. |
flu I work with hospice patients and today I got the notice to go get the flu shot. They are very strict about getting this shot. If we choose not to get it, we have to wear a mast during the time of hospice visitation. Better get that shot now, hope they do not run out by October. I think a lot of people are aware of the necessity of getting this shot. |
