I'm embarrassed for them!!! awwwww my poor babies... they went to the groomer yesterday and we told them to give them a summer cut. Well it was a different women than the usual and she shaved their bodies, which is fine... but she also shaved their faces/heads! Its the WORST haircut ever!!! I hate it!!! They are all ears now, Ive never realized my dogs (in almost 9 years!) have such large ears!!! I'm not one to be mad about a bad haircut mainly bc in 2 months it will be grown out again so it does not matter, maybe I'll eek 3 months out of this stupid cut now! But man oh man, I DO NOT want this groomer doing their cuts ever again! She clearly does not know what a typical yorkie cut (head wise) should look like! I hope my boys are not scarred for life! LOL I had 2 friends tell me they saw a show recently and it was mentioned that dogs know when they have a bad haircut and need you to speak positive to them and be happy and not tell them how silly they look. Not sure my boys really actually understand that, but I'm trying not to laugh at how awful this cut is. I want to say "My, what big ears you have!" I'll have to take pics! |
oh no! I am sure they are both still adorbs but it is upsetting to not get what you expect especially on return visits to the groomer. hope it grows back fast. |
Oh my goodness, I would be livid if someone cut all of Huey's hair off his head and face. I was terribly angry the only time someone ever trimmed his ears and he was only 3 months old then. you sure are taking it a whole lot better than I would. Bless those little pups! I hope they grow out soon! |
I must say,,, your taking it a hell of a lot better than me! When I took my Gus in for a summer haircut they shaved him down as well. I even took in a picture of what I wanted to be done. If he wasn't so excited to see me when they brought him out to me I wouldn't have not recognized him. All I wanted to do is cry! He was only 3 1/2lbs and it looked as if a quarter of his weight was his ears. From that day on I had to learn to do it myself. Not that I didn't mess up a few times but nothing like the hack job they did. Just last month I cut a big chunk off of Leiloni's facial hair and was scared that I messed up really bad but it actually came out really cute after some blending. It does grow back just like you said. |
Geez, that's just terrible. I would also be soooo mad. I guess it helps if you are very specific about what you want, obviously the word summer cut or puppy cut means different things to different groomers. One time a groomer did similar to that to my mini Schnauzer.... and I gotta tell you a Schnauzer without a beard and eyebrow visors is just plain wrong. I do think dogs reflect on your reaction in looking at them, so just give them lots of love and praise and tell them how beautiful they are. These stories always make me happy I groom my own. |
I bet they are cute and it gives them character |
Now I REALLY want to see pictures~! Hurry hurry~~~~ |
1 Attachment(s) Look how short their faces are!!! They are ALL ears! I never knew my boys had such large ears! Seriously! I think they look awful!!!!! :( I keep telling them how handsome they are though and how much mamma loves them! I don't want pups with complexes!  |
2 Attachment(s) They look like robot dogs with their eyes... but tell me, with these cuts, do they even look like Yorkies anymore? :( |
Well, they are very cute little robots, haha:D But seriously, I would be screaming mad and would at least demand a full refund. I can understand cutting them short on the back/body (I personally prefer this anyway), but there is absolutely no reason to cut the face hair and beard that short. Grrr. |
1 Attachment(s) Aww.. I think they're still adorable! Maybe it's b/c I prefer the puppy cuts.. And yes! I think they still look likee very handsome yorkies! My Zoey has big ears too. See? Attachment 400234 |
Poor babie's they probably feel naked as a jay bird. But the still very handsome pup's, and like you said it will grow back. Won't need any more cut's this sommer. Have a great day and handsome fella's to. Anne |
Thanks!! It's growing on me! When I talk to Fletch and his ears go up and his head tilts, it cracks me up! Lol |
Zoey is a doll!!! |
To me they look like 2 lil cuties, I agree, it would be a shock to me if I pick up my pups and the cut was what I considered awful. One good thing, at least hair grows back. AND they do know when they are not looking "all that pretty" they get that from OUR REACTION. Many years ago I had a poodle, I dropped her off at a new groomer, told him what I wanted. My (then) husband picked her up, when she came home I screamed OMG, WTF did they do to my dog. She was shaved to the skin, and UGLY, she had a beautiful face which was now shaved to the skin. my pup ran in to the bedroom and under the bed. She darn well new she was no longer the "pretty girl" It took me hours to coax her out from under that bed. A lesson for me for LIFE, NEVER show your baby your disappointment for a bad hair cut, they do know lol. To this day, if I am not happy about the cut, I make sure I tell the groomer, but I do the happy dance for my baby. |
They are still adorable. ..but I'd be mad too, if the groomer, didn't listen and cut all the face fur off. My Pip, has ears like a donkey, still cute. |

My boys have been groomed 50x probably in their almost 9 years. I always get their bodies shaved short in the summer and a 'yorkie puppy cut' on their faces. I've never seen the hair at the base of their ears clipped that short, ever! That is what is shocking to me. I didn't know their ears were that tall! LOL |
I think they look adorable. Cali and my mom's Oliver have the extra large ears. All the better to hear the treat bag being opened. |

Wow ! Did you call the owner and tell them what she did to them ? I really hope you did. Next time I would call and say is your reg girl there. She is the only one I want to cut them. . . It is funny how big Yorkies ears look when their heads are shaved or wet ;) . . . They still look cute. And look like Yorkies ! |

I LOVE big ears, my last girl was 17 lbs and had the biggest ears I ever saw, her size at 8 weeks old and her BIG ears was the reason I got her. My new boy weighs 12 lbs and has BIG ears, I just love Big ears, when he gets groomed I tell them leave fringes on the ears, I tell them I want the Papillon cut for the ears. This is how I kept my girl, and want the same for my boy. He has a small face, Papillon ear cut reduces the large ears and fits his face better. How I LOVE kissing them big ears. |
Can I see a close up of their face? I can't get enough of their new look. LOL |

They are adorable! Buster and Maggie get cut short for the summer but I ask for her to leave their face hair long. She has cut the face hair short and it does change their looks. But they are still so very cute. Maggie seems to have very big ears when she's cut short but I keep telling her how gorgeous she is. |

That groomer clearly didn't know how to cut a yorkie. Thank goodness it will come back.....I haven't taken mine in in years I just do it myself. Too many groomer not able to follow directions. I will never forget the time a groomer cut my Jack's (RIP baby) hair on the inside of his back legs. I didn't notice it until I got home, I put him down and watched as he walked away from me. The look on my face was  There was nothing back there! He was walking like he just got off a horse, all bowlegged and stiff looking. I think he could feel the breeze back there going through his legs! That was the last straw.... |

I tried to groom them myself. I did a better job than this 'so-called groomer' did!!! But honestly.. Dex, my 6.5lb baby boy turned into an 18 legged 80-lb BEAST!! It was awful. I was crying, he was crying. He wanted to cuddle in my neck to get away from the scissors/clippers... it was just a nightmare. We both needed valium (kidding!)... it was awful! So I won't even bother trying to groom him again. Its not worth the blood, sweat and tears. Then Fletch lets me w/o a problem, but he stares at me the whole time with these huge terror filled eyes. its sad. So I stopped trying. |
