Someone repeated a secret I couldn't keep to myself.......can I get mad at someone for not being able to keep a secret that I couldn't keep myself? Thought of the day (confused smiley) |
Uh oh! Is anyone being hurt by the secret getting out? If not, then don't sweat it! |
Well......I know lots of secrets and know how to keep my mouth shut. When someone tells me something I hold their trust in my very personally. I don't know if it's a matter of forgiveness but I'd never be able to trust that person with my confidence again. There's not many people that I tell HUGE things to about my personal life. |
No you can not get mad if you couldn't keep the secret that you couldn't keep . . . . |
But let me add.......sometimes things slip and if you weren't gossiping to be evil then just fess up, own it and move on. But we all know someone that has THE BIGGEST MOUTH in the entire UNIVERSE! That's the type of person that I want nothing to do with....EVER! If she did it to someone else she is doing it to you too......for entertainment purposes. AND that's just kinda sick. |

I am not good at keeping secrets so I tell people, please don't tell me any. I find it hard to keep secrets from people I am close with and trust, so I can understand how you might have felt comfortable letting someone else you trusted know. I have been there before so I now just prefer not to be in on one in the first place |

If it's a secret that was supposed to kept, well, SECRET -- then yes, you should be upset...and you should question the trust and loyalty of the friend. If you can't trust a friend with a secret, yikes, that opens a whole can of worms in my book in terms of what kind of friend/person they actually are. Friends who don't protect you and your confidences have to be evaluated. Now. That said....let's say you told your friend a secret that put you in danger like "don't tell anyone but I've started to abuse drugs" -- that's the kind of 'secret' where the trust can be broken in my book, within reason and with the safety/well being of the person at top of mind. |

"If you want to keep it a SECRET, do NOT tell ANYONE." This is what I tell people. I find that sometimes, people gives things away without really realizing it. Also, if the person tells me a secret, there's a chance s/he told someone else and THAT person might've leaked it. |

Totally agree with this as well. If it's for the safety of a person then I see this as not breaking a secret. I am a little overly passionate on this subject because of a few things that have happened recently to myself and others. Some people can't keep a confidence to save their live and will even elaborate and embellish. :thumbdown People like that need a hobby or psychiatrist! |
Yes, you can be mad at that person for breaking your confidence. However, you have to realize that had YOU not broke the other persons confidence, this wouldn't be happening... You're responsible for your part. They're responsible for theirs. If someone tells me something, secret or not, it's not my place to tell others. |

Lynzy I think I know you better than that does this secret have anything to do with a man friend you have met |
Personally, I believe that if a person repeats something told to them in confidence, then they can't be trusted. |
Only tell secrets to your fur-babies! |
I didn't repeat a secret, I spoke to someone in confidence, though I didn't say "you better not tell anyone"...I'm 48 I shouldn't have to say that..person then repeated...and so on....I blame myself because obviously if I couldn't keep my own secret how can I expect others to keep it???? Lol, moral of the story...keep things to yourself...I suppose. |
Lynzy, I am STILL making mistakes but we do learn from them.:) |

I have a co-worker that I think repeats things that I tell her and ask her not to repeat. Needless to say, I don't tell her anything anymore. She is now wondering why I don't talk to her other to say "Hello".... |

Having worked Intel, people want to tell secrets, you want people to know or its not fun to keep it secret. The minute you tell someone else, 99.9% it will be all over town in no time at all, the juicer the faster it travels. I used to interrogate people, get talkative, then say they wouldn't know something as their rank/position was not important enough. The fauset would flow and eventually pour, lol, Ego is a powerful weakness |

Lol, but of course under your interrogation....ALL bets may be off :p! |
Only tell things that you want shouted from your roof tops, because people love the power of gossip. Sad, but true.....secrets seem to always spread like a virus. |

Being somewhat private I prefer to keep a secret, as it is.. a secret. I know some people can't just from the way I see them talk about others. |
Must be juicy.. LOL Did she know it was in confidence? I'm blonde.. so I need to be told it's in confidence. I'm also old, so usually I've forgotten what you've told me anyway.. LMAO |
I also think that sometimes people tell to brag, that they know the secret. :( People I know, know they can trust me. |
