Plus, I don't think you can lift anything heavy for a couple days or something like that. You are very relaxed and sleepy during the surgery so you don't care what they are doing. When the cloudiness first starts to wear off the afternoon of surgery and you peek past the patch and you can see so well, it is a big shock!!!

That sounds do-able:D! I am so excited!! I haven't seen very well for a few years now. They said they don't promise I won't need glasses, but it's a good chance that I won't! Did you still need glasses? I'm sure I probably will at some point later, but am hoping to be glasses free:thumbup:

I have to wear glasses to read and use the computer as my eyes had previously repaired problems resulting in permanent defects from old macular tear repairs so my eye surgeon couldn't give me the kind of implant corrections where I don't need any glasses - he said my eyes would find that too much to try to handle. Plus, the defects in my eyes make reading not that fun anyway so I have a lot of audio books instead. And on the computer, the light behind the letters make letters somewhat easier to read. But I'm thrilled to death with being able to see far off. I'd make that trade any day in the year - to see to drive, watch a movie at the theater, see the stage at a performance, watch TV and see two streets over with no need of glasses. I can read the tiniest print far off - amazing. I imagine you'll ace cataract surgery just like everyone does.

Thanks Jeanie:) It helps to have some idea of what I can expect! Getting nervous but excited to get these eyes fixed:D!

Thanks, Alyssa:D I had no insurance for yearsssss and it really hurt me. Now I get to have everything addressed and hopefully fixed. Next is my lower back. Physical therapy was prescribed but I'll have to wait until the eye doc is finished with me!

Thanks, Lynz:love: I am happier than I've been in a long time. I didn't have a car of my own for 4 years! It was awful. And I was so sick all the time.

People can bash Obama all they want, to me, he's the MAN:D Some may have lost their coverage, but that was because it wasn't GOOD coverage. The program isn't perfect, but it's helped a lot of people like me, I'm sure.

Hugs to you!!!! Enjoy your perfectly clean and shiny ride!:car:

I am so happy to hear that things are looking up!

As for Obama and the ACA, I think he's the man to a lot of people who couldn't previously afford health care. Everyone deserves coverage and it makes me happy to hear that you have yours!

Things are looking up for me:) Went to the eye specialist today, been having a lot of vision troubles. Can't drive at night, read street/highway signs, etc. Well no wonder, I have cataracts in both eyes! YES, something that CAN be fixed!!!! I go in May 5th for the left eye and the right eye will be done a few weeks later. Surgery takes 15 minutes or less and I can drive the next day:D I'm relieved. No diabetic retinopathy either, so that's good!

I also finally got a car and a sweet deal on it too! KBB is $6,900, we bought for $4,500. I can actually ride in style, too, it's an Audi A6. 2001 but it's in mint condition and had only 110,700 miles on it. The original owner really took great care of it. There are a couple of small chips out of the hood, like a rock hit it on the highway and a small scratch on the driver's side back door, but I don't really care, it runs like a top! Can't wait to get her out on the highway and floor it for a minute just to see what she can do:p I'll be careful lol

I've also got my diabetes under better control now, they finally put me on fast-acting insulin for meals and it's 1000% better, near normal numbers. I feel so much better that I'm actually going out and exercising since I have some energy again. I've only lost 3 lbs this month, but I'll take it! I know if I can lose this extra 25 lbs that I will have better control (and my jeans will fit again!).

I am so thankful to finally have health insurance. A lot of people look down on the Affordable Care Act, but it has helped me get good insurance without having to pay $1500 a month. As a diabetic, the only insurance that would take me wanted that much just for ME!

Anyway, I hope that everyone is doing well and sorry I haven't been around much, been really busy lately!

I'm so happy for you! What a lovely thread, so nice to read your good news :)

It's great to read that your health has improved so much and is continuing to improve daily. It must be fabulous to have your own car again, enjoy that freedom! :cheer:

I hope this is just the start of many wonderful, new opportunities for you:)

Thanks, Michelle:) We couldn't afford coverage before due my diabetes. The only insurance companies that would even accept me wanted $1300 a month:eek: Now with ACA, they're not allowed to even ask if you have health issues.

What a lot of folks that are protesting the ACA don't realize is that if everyone has coverage, they can be healthier and more productive members of society! I was contemplating trying to get disability before, which would make me yet another burden on taxpayers. Now I will be able to go back to work as soon as I get my health issues all taken care of :D
