Great news!!! Things are looking up for me:) Went to the eye specialist today, been having a lot of vision troubles. Can't drive at night, read street/highway signs, etc. Well no wonder, I have cataracts in both eyes! YES, something that CAN be fixed!!!! I go in May 5th for the left eye and the right eye will be done a few weeks later. Surgery takes 15 minutes or less and I can drive the next day:D I'm relieved. No diabetic retinopathy either, so that's good! I also finally got a car and a sweet deal on it too! KBB is $6,900, we bought for $4,500. I can actually ride in style, too, it's an Audi A6. 2001 but it's in mint condition and had only 110,700 miles on it. The original owner really took great care of it. There are a couple of small chips out of the hood, like a rock hit it on the highway and a small scratch on the driver's side back door, but I don't really care, it runs like a top! Can't wait to get her out on the highway and floor it for a minute just to see what she can do:p I'll be careful lol I've also got my diabetes under better control now, they finally put me on fast-acting insulin for meals and it's 1000% better, near normal numbers. I feel so much better that I'm actually going out and exercising since I have some energy again. I've only lost 3 lbs this month, but I'll take it! I know if I can lose this extra 25 lbs that I will have better control (and my jeans will fit again!). I am so thankful to finally have health insurance. A lot of people look down on the Affordable Care Act, but it has helped me get good insurance without having to pay $1500 a month. As a diabetic, the only insurance that would take me wanted that much just for ME! Anyway, I hope that everyone is doing well and sorry I haven't been around much, been really busy lately! |

I am sitting at DeltaSonic getting my car detailed (present to myself) and reading this made me shed happy tears....!!! This really made my day, I'm so happy for you, thank you for sharing this story...it is these kinds of stories we all need to share and read!!! (dancing smiley) |
WooHoo! Great news indeed! Yay! |
Thanks, Lynz:love: I am happier than I've been in a long time. I didn't have a car of my own for 4 years! It was awful. And I was so sick all the time. People can bash Obama all they want, to me, he's the MAN:D Some may have lost their coverage, but that was because it wasn't GOOD coverage. The program isn't perfect, but it's helped a lot of people like me, I'm sure. Hugs to you!!!! Enjoy your perfectly clean and shiny ride!:car: |

I am so glad to hear things are looking up ! |
I'm so glad for you, I wish you the best on your surguries! Have fun with your new car, don't be getting a lead foot! |
SO happy to read such a great post, YAY for you!!!! What great news all around. And you can now zip your sassy good-visioned self around in that snappy car. More than anything, I'm thrilled to hear you got some health care via the ACA, what a relief that must be. |
It's so refreshing to hear good news once in a while. So glad things are working out well for you!! |
And with the cataract removal, the eye surgeon usually will replace your cataracts with prescription lens implants that will correct whatever routine vision problems you have. I always had to wear glasses to drive or watch TV due to being near-sighted but after cataract/lens implant surgery bilaterally, I now can see to do both without the need of glasses!!! |

I have to wear glasses to read and use the computer as my eyes had previously repaired problems resulting in permanent defects from old macular tear repairs so my eye surgeon couldn't give me the kind of implant corrections where I don't need any glasses - he said my eyes would find that too much to try to handle. Plus, the defects in my eyes make reading not that fun anyway so I have a lot of audio books instead. And on the computer, the light behind the letters make letters somewhat easier to read. But I'm thrilled to death with being able to see far off. I'd make that trade any day in the year - to see to drive, watch a movie at the theater, see the stage at a performance, watch TV and see two streets over with no need of glasses. I can read the tiniest print far off - amazing. I imagine you'll ace cataract surgery just like everyone does. |
What a happy post to read :) yay for health needs being met! |

As for Obama and the ACA, I think he's the man to a lot of people who couldn't previously afford health care. Everyone deserves coverage and it makes me happy to hear that you have yours! |

It must be fabulous to have your own car again, enjoy that freedom! :cheer: I hope this is just the start of many wonderful, new opportunities for you:) |

What a lot of folks that are protesting the ACA don't realize is that if everyone has coverage, they can be healthier and more productive members of society! I was contemplating trying to get disability before, which would make me yet another burden on taxpayers. Now I will be able to go back to work as soon as I get my health issues all taken care of :D |
