When do you take down your Christmas tree? In Connecticut, we always took down our tree during the first week of January. In Georgia, you will see trees on the curb the day after Christmas! We still have ours up, but I will probably take it down tonight. |
Usually we take it down on New Years Day or the first weekend after New Years. I have a north woods themed home, so it fits right in. I think real trees get taken down earlier than artificial! |
I still have mine up! I know I should take it down, I just haven't felt like it yet...will probably do it this weekend. |
it's a struggle for me, I really hate to take it down because I enjoy all my decorations so much, I had said this weekend, but LOL just don't feel ready to let it go yet, so probably next weekend I will take it all down |
This wkend for sure! Needs to come down because of new puppy arrival:D |
The city has a day where they will come pick you your tree. We seen other trees out on the curb last week, so we took down ours last week so we didn't miss the tree pick up. But normally, the first week of January. |
Just took the tree down today, cleaned all my ornaments and decorations and they are all stored away now. House is back to normal. This year I even remembered to take the wreath off the front door! (Normally I forget it until I leave the house the first time after taking all the decorations down and remember the Christmas wreath on the door too late!) It's a sad day when I put Christmas away each year but I left out my big Shirley Temple doll that I stand beside the tree out standing where the tree was! Normally I leave the tree up a week or two even after New Years as I so love the lights on in the evenings but today, I just decided not to wait and get it over with. Now I'm kind of glad it's all behind me but I'll miss those lights tonight. :( |
I always take ours down New Years Day. My MIL insists that I should keep it up until Jan. 6th (the epiphany) but since I'm not religious I do what I want lol. It's MY house, lady:p |
I was thinking tonight, but I might keep it up one or two more nights. We are in the middle of the huge blizzard today & tomorrow, so I think I want the happiness of the twinkling lights a little bit longer. All the ornaments are off of it, just lights & candy canes left. Its an artificial tree, DH & I are talking about just unplugging it and carrying it downstairs as is, not taking it all apart. If we do that, it will be easy to take down and put away. It makes me sad though! I mean I want my living room back now but I miss the holidays, they come & go sooo quickly! |
We keep it up until the 6th Little Christmas. For us it is an Italian tradition. |
I'll do it this weekend if weather permits. I think I'm happier getting decorations down then I am of putting them up. Not.. that I put anything up. (my sisters did all of it) LOL I got bit annoyed yesterday b/c of all the trash I found around the certain parts of my house. It's great to have fun and celebrate the new year but PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF!!! Found beer cans, bottles, and other various trash in my yard as well as my next door neighbor's yard. |
I have to take my tree down before the New Year...don't know why, it's ingrained in my mind. lol!!! So mine was down and everything Christmas was put away on New Years eve. This includes Winston's Christmas themed toys...he's still looking for them...poor baby. He misses the tree, his stocking and all that goes with it. |
I didn't even put one up this year..... |
We always keep our tree up for the 12 days of Christmas and usually beyond that. |
We take our tree down on the 26th of December. My Mom always did that so I just follow in her tradition. It's kind of sad to take it down as I love the decorations. The house always looks so bare after everything is packed away! Happy New Year to everyone!! |
Charlie barks at the Christmas trees sitting on the curbs. Especially the white ones. It's hilarious. I wonder what he thinks they are. haha:D |
Well, our tree and decorations are down and most are ready for storage. I keep my snowmen up until spring and I will still plug in one of our lighted trees as I love the twinkling lights. My house looks bare as I haven't put all our daily decorations back! It is a little of a let down when all the festive decorations and twinkle of the tree is gone! :( |
Waaaa....missed my tree last night. I get so used to the lights and the glamour of having it while it's up that I really do miss the first days after it's gone. I just enjoy looking at it day after day. Wish there was something to replace it that was as warm and pretty, especially evenings. |

I took mine down today. I would have kept it up for a few more days, but today was my best option. Annie09, you are right about the house looking bare. I'll probably buy a new plant tomorrow to help fill the void. |
mine came down on the 26th My oldest daughter had it down and put away before I got back home (had to run my mom to the dentist) We had lots of company and needed the room for kids to play But I usually take it down that early |
Well we were gonna take it down this weekend but it snowed and we can't get to the shed to get the boxes and stuff for the Christmas stuff so it will have to wait until the next weekend. |
Ours came down today. I Used to have it down by the 30th cause that's one sons birthday and I didn't want it looking like Christmas on his special day. But he's married now and wasn't here for his birthday, so I had a little extra breathing room. But it's all done, just gotta vacuum and get everything back in its place. I feel good when it is all clean and back to the way it is normally. I do like the twinkling lights, but I have a tree in my back yard that has a string of lights on all year that I can see out my window. Just seeing the little twinkle makes me happy. |
The first day of Christmas is Dec 25th!!! There ARE 12 days of Christmas!!! :D I like to celebrate them all! I do have the outdoor decorations down, the 2 trees in the formal livingroom are down (we don't sit in there much esp.in the winter). The YORKIE TREES (yes, I have 2 small trees with Shelby, Seymour, & Seegers ornaments on them) are still up along with my winter wreaths and garland. I also have some arrangements & center pieces that are still out and my SNOWMEN will stay out. I think some of my "winter decor" will stay up thru January... snowmen, greenery, holly.... Love the white lights on my "winter wreath" with Crystal & purple decor... it really makes the room say "brrrr it is winter time"!!! |
