My son's bank caught his as they were trying to drain his bank account and notified him immediately. Some people are just pathetic!! |

Needless to say after a long time on the phone I finally got my $20 back, and I closed that account. I would not wait to change cards if you shopped at Target. Those people can hold your acct info for a while and use it later and you will be SOL. |

I go to target a couple of times each week. The dates that this breach occurred also coincided with me doing a bunch of Christmas and birthday shopping. Needless to say, I'll be watching my card transactions like a hawk and will be calling B of A tomorrow to tell them I "accidentally" washed my debit card... |
Just so it's said, breeches occur everyday with every store. No one is safe as long as hackers exist. |

A friend who got his debit card used at some toys r us store. The charge was for few hundred dollars. Long story short, the bank wouldn't give him his money back. I think the bank told him the charge had to be a certain amount (couple/few thousand dollars) in order for them to "investigate" and give him the money back. I had a charge of $0.01 on one of my CC that I did not authorize. I mean... who charges $0.01?! I called the CC and right away, they closed the account and refunded that one cent. No question asked. |

I have a Target near me, we checked our bank accounts, debit card & credit card statements to see if we used a card there during that time frame, I am so happy that we did not. Also, you may get paid back by Target for any fraudulent charges, but that could take MONTHS to get, in the meantime, your bills are coming and you can't pay them, everything snowballs! AARRGG! |

I also hate B of A. |
Beware, there is an email going out that looks like it is from Target but it is not them, it's a scam trying to get your information. From: NBC News tonight. |
OMG those POS crooks. It never ends does it? |
You would think that with all the work people put into this kinda thing they could get a decent job. |

I guess if someone has no self control on spending that would be another good reason not to have a cc. Some cards have high interest rates so that could be a considered a rip off, but when paying it off each month that's never a problem. I just love the rewards I get but most of all it's the peace of mind knowing that retailers don't have easy access to my bank account. |

dog I wonder if people who signed up for the red card 5% discount are more in jeopardy. They had to give out more info to get that card. I did not do that but I shopped at Target. My husband said not to worry about it. So I am chillin until I see some idiotic activity by some dishonest person who cannot respect other people's property. Too bad we have to deal with such low lifers. The hound of heaven sees them and will get them in the end. We reap what we sow! |

A year ago, I decided to ask myself before I pulled out a credit card "do I really need this" it has worked really well. When it doesn't work is at Christmas and I want to buy for the little one.....oh 11 months out of the year is pretty good. Those out of work have little choice, however being retired I am in a way out of work and on a fixed income with little give at all. I don't travel like I used to but I do travel to Florida once a year to see my Son and family so I have to have 1 credit card, there is not way around it. I tell them not to keep adding credit to it unless I ask them though since I don't want the temptation. |

I saw that as well and that is scary, but I would hope that when this info first came out that everyone changed their pin number right away. since I do not shop with a debit card and the only one I have does not have a visa/mastercard logo on it, I am out of the loop on how it works now. When they first started issuing visa/debit cards they said that the beauty of it is when at a retailer you don't need to use a pin, you just swipe it like a credit card, is that still how it works??? I was also thinking some of you much younger members might be confused by my posts because now it seems like all the debit cards have a credit card logo, but for older people like me that have had them for 10 or more years when they first came out they did not look like a visa or mastercard and you could not use it at many places. |

I use my debit card as a credit card. I sign for it instead of using my pin. Reason is I get cash back if I use it as credit but not as debit. The merchants get charged 3% (usually) for a credit transaction, whether it is an actual CC or debit card matters not. But merchants do not get charged if it is used as debit. So my bank wants me to use as credit so they get 3% from the merchant, and I get 1% from the bank. However, that said, 99% of the time I use cash. |
