Ice and Sleet 1 Attachment(s) Here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area we are covered with so much Ice and Frozen Sleet on top of that. This is a picture looking out my front door. While it may look pretty, I'm stuck in the house for at least 3 day's as it's not going to melt any time soon. Attachment 394594 |
Stuck too! Praying the electricity stays on! |
I still have power and pray it doesn't go out. This morning around 5 AM I head a Transformer the next block over blow and saw the flash of light from it. I just praying 'Oh Not Here. Please" The girl's hate having to go out to potty, they are very careful when walking in the yard. |
Yikes, that doesn't sound fun at all! I'll send some good thoughts for your power to stay on and for your lil ones feet to thaw quickly after their potty breaks! |
Anna refuses to go out in this cold stuff! Fortunately, she uses pee pads fairly well. I am praying you guys don't lose power. |
I saw about your weather on the news this morning! Sounds awful. We are getting some of it too. Already had the sleet now the snow. At least it is easier to walk on snow than ice. Anyway, hope the time goes quickly for you! |
You guys may should think about getting a Portable Electric Generator. Even if you have Natural Gas to heat with, having minimal Electric power can really be such a convenience under those "temporary" conditions. I have a 25 KW, Natural Gas powered, Electric Generator  But, even with one not so powerful (5-10 KW) one can run a few lights, refrigerator, and Fans on the A/C Unit for heating. Then of course the really important stuff like, charging your Cell Phone, and operating your Computer so you can Post like this :D |
I am saying prayers that you all come through the storm safely! Here in Delaware we are expecting 8 inches of snow. We had about 1/4 inch of ice this morning, followed by snow. Of course, Miss Annie couldn't go on her walk this morning, so she decided to poop and pee in the house!! OMGosh, hubby is about to send her packing. I can put her in her gated off area for hours, and as soon as she gets out....BAM!!! On the carpet she goes!! How many more days until Spring??!! :) :) |
in mi we are bone dry, no snow or ice. how weird Texas has it and MI does not. one of the company's I rep for is in AR near the TN boarder and they closed early truck lines were not running because of the ice storms so they closed the factory and headed home. |

Drivers around here are so UN-used to Ice conditions, you literally take your life in your hands, if you get out on the roads. NOT from the Ice, but from the Drivers ! |

Wow am I glad that stuff didn't come south to the San Antonio area. Cookie absolutely loves this weather in the 30s and I can't imagine sliding on all that stuff when I go grab her to bring her in! |
That's the kind of weather we have off and on all winter. So far this year we have only had a few inches of snow. The last few days we have had temps in the 50's and it was almost like spring again. The temperature has dropped at least 20 degrees in the past few hours. They had warned of possible ice this afternoon but it looks like it missed us. Sorry to hear things got so bad in some areas of the south. I hope we all have a mild winter this year. |
It is 80 degrees here! I am jealous of y'all that have snow. My girls would not know what to do! haha |
Ice is so scary, much worse than snow. Stay safe and I hope your power stays on. |
Take care Vicki & everyone caught in this storm. Don't feel the need to go out unless there's a good reason. Just stay with those pups & keep them warm & loved! |
We are in the same situation here Vicki. I did loose power. It just came back on and we jumped for joy. We still have many here without it. Praying yours stays on. We have another storm coming. Is it coming to you too. Stay warm! |

I am glad you got your power back. My friend who lives in Fort Smith, had part of tree fall of her roof, but she still had power. You stay warm as well. |
Hi everyone, I live in Houston and it's cold here, no snow. But we are catching the draft down here! My best wishes for your safety and warmth. Sending much love from Houston :) |
Bleh! We have nothing here in College Station...its just freezing!! 27 degrees and no snow. :( In December 2010 it snowed in upstate SC and froze my entire campus. Classes were canceled for 2 whole weeks. The ice was super dangerous and impossible to leave the house. Funny bc when I lived in Ohio I remember walking to school in 3 feet of snow. They wouldn't give us a snow day for anything...they were so well equipped with those machines that spread salt on the roads. |
dog I cannot imagine such cold snowy weather! Here in California it is chilly and we are expecting rain but people run around in sweaters. I hope it doesn't get too cold there. The driving conditions are not good in the ice. If I lived there my Yorkies would be pad trained and not go out. I really pray for the cold snap to pass soon for you. You will have a white Christmas. We dream of that out here. |
Stay safe and warm all. There is nothing going on here in central Illinois. Cold and windy, but no snow or ice...yet anyway. I think we have a chance for precipitation on Sunday. Hope it's snow and not ice. |
We, too are iced-in in the D-WF area. Daddy's out of town and there's 1.5 inches of solid ice coating the cars but at least Liberty is keeping me warm. Soooo lucky as 1 out of 4 homes around me have lost power and not yet gotten it back!!!! |

My brother lives in Paris Texas....that is where I will be relocating too......he has been without electricity for 2 days.....really making me reconsider this move to the beautiful North Texas country!!!! He said his property looks like a war zone with all the broken limbs that have fallen because of the ice....fortunately, he was prepared for this and he always keeps the trees cut away from his home.....but he is not going to be leaving the area any time soon! |
Paris Texas now has power!!! |

We are still iced in but so far we haven't lost our electric...the last ice storm we were without for eleven days my fur babies all use peepads so they are doing good, hoping that all of you get through this without to much trouble |

But, I bet one can find a much stronger/higher output Generator for less than what you quoted. Actually, the time to buy one of those is during good weather. For some reason, they just cost less then...wonder why. |
Stay safe and warm. Y'all are getting hit hard by this cold snap and are not as equipped to deal with all the ice like we are here. A large group from our area here in KS headed south on Friday (headed to catch a cruise) and got stuck in accidents/weather there in the Denton area for 8 hours. The photos I've seen posted are unreal. |
