Take care Vicki & everyone caught in this storm. Don't feel the need to go out unless there's a good reason. Just stay with those pups & keep them warm & loved!

We are in the same situation here Vicki. I did loose power. It just came back on and we jumped for joy. We still have many here without it. Praying yours stays on. We have another storm coming. Is it coming to you too. Stay warm!

Yep I know. I was yelling at the weather man on TV, saying SERIOUSLY when I heard that. LOL

I am glad you got your power back. My friend who lives in Fort Smith, had part of tree fall of her roof, but she still had power. You stay warm as well.

Bleh! We have nothing here in College Station...its just freezing!! 27 degrees and no snow. :(

In December 2010 it snowed in upstate SC and froze my entire campus. Classes were canceled for 2 whole weeks. The ice was super dangerous and impossible to leave the house. Funny bc when I lived in Ohio I remember walking to school in 3 feet of snow. They wouldn't give us a snow day for anything...they were so well equipped with those machines that spread salt on the roads.

I cannot imagine such cold snowy weather! Here in California it is chilly and we are expecting rain but people run around in sweaters. I hope it doesn't get too cold there. The driving conditions are not good in the ice. If I lived there my Yorkies would be pad trained and not go out. I really pray for the cold snap to pass soon for you. You will have a white Christmas. We dream of that out here.

Stay safe and warm all. There is nothing going on here in central Illinois. Cold and windy, but no snow or ice...yet anyway. I think we have a chance for precipitation on Sunday. Hope it's snow and not ice.

We, too are iced-in in the D-WF area. Daddy's out of town and there's 1.5 inches of solid ice coating the cars but at least Liberty is keeping me warm. Soooo lucky as 1 out of 4 homes around me have lost power and not yet gotten it back!!!!

I have a 25 KW, Natural Gas powered, Electric Generator :wink:

But, even with one not so powerful (5-10 KW) one can run a few lights, refrigerator, and Fans on the A/C Unit for heating.

Then of course the really important stuff like, charging your Cell Phone, and operating your Computer so you can Post like this :D
I've got a solar charger for my cell and tablet. I keep it in a window all the time so if the power ever goes out, it is ready. A Honda generator 1000 watts is less than $1000 and can power tv, phones, computer, incandescent lights, microwave, etc. 1 gallon of gas runs it for about 9-10 hours. Better than the one I had on my boat that took about 1 gallon/hr. :D

My brother lives in Paris Texas....that is where I will be relocating too......he has been without electricity for 2 days.....really making me reconsider this move to the beautiful North Texas country!!!! He said his property looks like a war zone with all the broken limbs that have fallen because of the ice....fortunately, he was prepared for this and he always keeps the trees cut away from his home.....but he is not going to be leaving the area any time soon!

Glad to hear they have power back. It's rough with it out. Our yard is the same way. We lost lots of trees and limbs. It will be a mess to clean up. There are so many cars in ditches right now. I'm stuck here at home because I don't chance it. Still praying for those without power.

We are still iced in but so far we haven't lost our electric...the last ice storm we were without for eleven days
my fur babies all use peepads so they are doing good, hoping that all of you get through this without to much trouble

Fantastic on the Solar ! :thumbup:

But, I bet one can find a much stronger/higher output Generator for less than what you quoted. Actually, the time to buy one of those is during good weather. For some reason, they just cost less then...wonder why. :eek:

Stay safe and warm. Y'all are getting hit hard by this cold snap and are not as equipped to deal with all the ice like we are here. A large group from our area here in KS headed south on Friday (headed to catch a cruise) and got stuck in accidents/weather there in the Denton area for 8 hours. The photos I've seen posted are unreal.
