Christmas decorating already? Has anyone started or is done their Christmas decorating? I talked to my mom the other day who did all her decorating by nov 1. Ironically when I was driving into work that morning I was thinking that I might do it this weekend and REALLY enjoy it for the season. I really love the tree up and lit at night, it makes me happy. I am thinking of putting it up sooner than after Thanksgiving. Its so much work to decorate to only have it up for, what seems like, the quickest month of the year! So when are you decorating and putting up your tree this year? |
I almost put mine up Monday. But had friends tell me that would be crazy. I may put mine up very soon. |
I've been fighting myself not to put it up too. I love it and want time to enjoy it. I usually do it right after Thanksgiving, but I think this year I might not make it that long. I usually take it down the day after Christmas though. When its over, its over! |
Neighbors were putting net lights on their bushes the other day....couldn't believe it...it's not even Thanksgiving! Then again, I remember climbing ladders to hang icicle lights on cold snowy days, wishing I'd put them up earlier, so maybe they are on to something! |
Yes mine comes down Christmas Day or day after also |
Baaaaaah humbug... lol I'm not really the decorating type so I'm putting it off for as long as I can. I did see few of my neighbors that have put up the lights right after Halloween though. |

We've always put stuff up the day after Thanksgiving and kept it up until the weekend after New Years, but this is my first Christmas with my boyfriend & his daughter in our own house, free to decorate as we want. I've already got all of our interior decorations and I'm fighting myself not to put it up this weekend. I was planning on next weekend, but we'll see if I make it that far! |
Our neighbors are starting to put up the lights. The neighborhood decorating contest grows bigger every year. They leave their lights up through January. |

Some people around here leave them on at night until the end of Jan. I love that! Once the holidays are done it's a long cold 3-4 months here so I like seeing the lights on through Jan! |
heck we still have our outside lights us since last year, or at least part of them but they are on dense bushes so they are not noticeable. I know the date the inside will be decorated, and it is Friday Nov. 22nd, I already have my helpers scheduled to be here at 9 am. My aim is to finish in one day, but realistically I will be happy if it is done by that Sunday, then I can enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend and the holiday season. I will not take it down till at least a week after Christmas. |
I don't put up outside lights And like the Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving But then by Christmas I am ready to have my living room back. Its so fun now having grandkids that enjoy the tree and decorations |
Guess what? Tree is up |

Wish the weekend wasn't so busy & i might have done it. I don't put outside lights either. Too much work to make them look nice, plus I can't see them outside! I do enjoy everyone elses though. :D |
I'm surprised that a few of you don't put up outside lights. I'm always saying I'm going to skip the outdoor lights, but never do... I felt obligated at my last house, because I was the house you'd see coming up the hill to go out of the subdivision, so felt like I had to. Now I live on the main road, so feel like I have to. Not to mention, there are NO street lights on my road, so if I don't put lights up on my house of some kind during dark winter, I always miss my driveway & drive past my own house. |
I have done a bit more fall/Thanksgiving decorating inside this year, so want to just enjoy this for a while more. I'm ok with Christmas decos going up the weekend after Thanksgiving, and taking down around New Year's. Of course with it being 85 degrees here, it takes quite a push to get in the spirit. I do have a lighted palm tree that I will put up earlier, before the actual Christmas tree. |
my neighbor has his Christmas lights on now and lights them up. I think it is a good idea to get them up ahead of time, like her in MI where it gets so cold, but I still would not light them up until after thanksgiving. |
We will put up our tree after Thanksgiving dinner. It's kind of a tradition around here. Lights usually go up outside the first weekend in December and down January 1st. I kind of understand the malls putting things out early, but IMO, the Mall of Georgia has taken it too far by already having Santa Claus there! |
Not yet, been real busy. But I will soon during the week of Thanksgiving. |
We use to put up our stuff the day after Thanksgiving and wait until Jan 7th to take everything down in order to honor my mom's traditions from back home. With the move and the new house (ie lots more space!!) we might actually decorate this year. |
We bought a new fake tree this year. Much easier to put up and it's pre-lit. Its cool bc the bulbs are big and they hold 2 small LED lights inside them, one colored and one white. You can make our tree all white, all colored, or blink between the 2. I love it! Well we didn't want to put it downstairs just to get it back up in 2 weeks, and we didn't want the box just hanging out in the living room, so we put our tree up and put the new topper on it. We haven't decorated yet, but it's been up since last Saturday night! I love it!!! Seems early but I think I gots some spirit this year for sure.. so bring on the holidays!!! :) |
