Glad you asked! I live alone with my babies :D and sometimes well alot of times I would just like to make it quick and simple, I have tried the south beach diet food it's not bad and Im not recommending anyone to this product! the calories was low and it was lean and it looked good?? So for us singles here, sometimes we dont have the time to prepare all these great recipes! thanks for the question!! |

Copy one of the nutrition labels from one and send it to me via PM or email. Then I can tell better. Personally I don't eat any of those prepared frozen dinner as I'm a diabetic & heart patient and very strict with my eating habits. They are a little too high in almost everything for me. |
Lean Cuisine and other frozen dinners Quote:
I have great sympathy for single folks who are trying to follow a healthy diet. You are correct, most recipes are much more fun if you are cooking for more that one. But to be good to yourself, buy some of the ziploc plastic containers, try a recipe, eat one portion and freeze the rest! Then you have a few of your OWN frozen meals for future quick dinners! You all are asking great questions!! Keep up the good work!! :D |

Hello everyone! Haven't been able to check in. I know today is weigh in day. Are we doing it at a specific time or can I do it now? Thanks! |
Hello everyone! I want to join the club too! I was also arounf the 125lbs range and stopped caring for quite a while and turned to be in the 140lbs range. So my goal is loose about 15lbs. I want to wish GOOD LUCK to each and every one of you. This is a great idea and being part of this will give us a greater motivation drive...im sure of that. Check out this link it is very helpful and informative. Hope you like it http://www.bodyforlife.com/ |
My husband also got an a diet with me so that will help a lot. No temptation at least in our house from now on :p |
Remember, this is for Lifestyle Changes FOREVER (means the rest of your life). This is NOT a diet. I know you WILL lose weight if you do this the way it should be done. We are changing what we eat so we can become healthier and live a much longer life. It's surprising what health problems you can beat IF you are eating properly! This means no junk food, reasonable portions within the correct serving size, eating the right foods and eliminating certain foods from your eating habits. I know I probably should have died many times in the past 15 years but because of very good eating habits, I'm still alive and kicking. My Cardiologist is in awe! Good luck to all of you - take it one day at a time for success. |
You are very welcome! Quote:
Age Height Current weight Goal weight and if you want the club report weekly, your email address. Like Pat said, this is not a diet, it is a way to eat for the rest of your life. It takes committment, thought, and effort. But the rewards are so great! Good luck! Ask any questions you wish along the way, we are all here for you! :D :D |

I ll pm you right now! Thanks |
Just found this thread and I have to say that it sounds WONDERFUL!! I know I won't be able to convert all at once but I REALLY want to get back down to my "Hottie" weight ;) I'm not sure if I can convince my hubby to join me or not but he NEEDS to. He's only 39 and is told he's on the brink of a heartattack and diabettes. His 40 year old brother had a stroke and his 42 year old sister has had numerous heart attacks and was diagnosed with diabettes recently, and his mom is also diabetic as is mine so it's in both our family histories. It's just sooo hard to change the eating habits that have been instilled in us since birth but we NEED to do so. I have Ulcerative Colitis so some of the good stuff might be hard on my system but I'd like to do something. I went to a Nutritionist last summer but she wasn't much help...just watch portion sizes and stay around 1500 calories a day but no SOLID help in eating practices. This is PERFECT because we have each other and the posts that I've read from Glad and Muffie's Mom have been so inspiring and easy to understand. Not ready to "clear" out the Fridge yet but will begin to watch what I'm eating and will continue learning as I go!! I really want to change!! Thanks so much for this!! WE CAN DO IT!!! Age 35 Height 5' 6" Weight 157 Goal Weight 130 at least |
More Good Tips Does Fat Free Really Mean Fat Free? Almost. But What About "Lite," "Low Fat" and "Reduced Fat"? No fat or fat free: Contains less than 1/2 gram of fat per serving Lower or reduced fat: Contains at least 25 percent less per serving than the reference food. Low fat: Contains less than 3 grams of fat per serving Lite: Contains 1/3 the calories or 1/2 the fat per serving of the original version or a similar product ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Choose "Reduced Calorie" Label for One-Third Less No calories or calorie free: Contains less than 5 calories per serving Low calories: Contains 1/3 the calories of the original version or a similar product ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reduced Sugar Can Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth With Less Sugar free: Contains less than 1/2 gram of sugar per serving Reduced sugar: at least 25% less sugar per serving than the reference food Preservatives Can be Natural or Added No preservatives: Contains no preservatives (chemical or natural) No preservatives added: Contains no added chemicals to preserve the product. Some of these products may contain natural preservatives ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Develop a Taste For Low Sodium Low sodium: contains less than 140 mgs of sodium per serving No salt or salt free: Contains less than 5 mgs of sodium per serving ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Fiber Up For Health High fiber: 5 g or more per serving (Foods making high-fiber claims must meet the definition for low fat, or the level of total fat must appear next to the high-fiber claim) Good source of fiber: 2.5 g to 4.9 g. per serving More or added fiber: Contains at least 2.5 g more per serving than the reference food ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
Tammy, you are your family are perfect for this! Quote:
You can do this for your health, for your family's health, and for your FUTURE health! We all age and as we do, we need to eat right. You cannot expect the "machine" to perform well for the ages if you don't give it the right fuel now! I look forward to watching your progress! |
For Weight Conversions To figure out weight conversions, please go to: http://www.rollformedshapes.com/metricconversions.htm You can copy and paste from there. I couldn't get it to fit right in this small space. It'll tell you how to convert ounces to grams, etc. |

How is it going with your changes that you are making in your "Lifestyle Changes" concerning the way you eat? Anyone making some big changes, little changes, any changes??? Why don't you submit some replies and tell all of us exactly what you have been doing about this? You can even send us some of your meal plans that you've been serving, within the guidelines, of course! LOL |

My husband sabbatages me I'm sure I misspelled sabbatoge....anyway.....he "likes me just the way I am" which is wonderful, but it seems he makes it worse for me. he went grocery shopping on Sunday and came home with choc eclairs and oreos! (Two of my favorites) To him food equals love and I just can't seem to change him. I don't have the will power if the stuff is in the house. What do I do? I know he's not doing it to be mean, he just thinks I'll want it (which i do) so he buys it. But if it wasn't in the house I wouldn't eat it. HELP |
I know exactly where you are coming from. I have NO will power either so the junk food does NOT come into our house!*! It sounds like YOU need to be the one buying the groceries. If he goes to the store with you and wants to buy that junk, just tell him that if he really loves you, he'd not buy that junk that is going to turn you into a very sick person someday - maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but it WILL catch up with you and then it'll be too late!*! The damage will already be done if it hasn't already! My husband shops for groceries and he KNOWS BETTER than to bring any junk into our house. I can't afford to CHEAT with food! Even my husband READS THE LABELS and knows the limits of everything on it. Sounds like YOU need to do some serious talking with your hubbie and talk about health issues. That's what it all boils down to. You either want to live or not!*!*! You either eat healthy and stay fit or eat junk and get heart disease or something worse. That is no fun! Remember: YOU are #1 :number1ri |

WOW! I'm so proud of you..... trying to quit smoking and changing to a healthy way of eating at the same time. Good for you! I commend you from the bottom of my heart. But, you sound determined and I know you'll succeed. For the others, don't be discouraged if you only lose a pound a week. That's one pound less that YOU have to carry around. Before you know it, the pounds will be adding up. You don't want to lose too fast anyway or you might not be able to keep it off. Thank you, Sweetie for the kind comments you had to say. I appreciate them. Good luck to all of you. |
I was wondering if I could join you guys, I really dont want to lose but about 5lbs but what I really want to do is tone up I am 5'3'' and I weigh 120 lbs. I want some sexy abs and legs!!! |
Of course you can join! Quote:
I am in a breast cancer research program studying the effects of exercise on recovery. (am cancer free, by the way, one year!) I walk 2 miles on a track twice a week, and do 12 reps on 8 nautilus machines, and lift free weights twice a week. It has really helped. I am done with the program as of the end of this month, and am signing up for the Y this week. I am determined to keep this size 6 body I never expected to have at 51 years old, and in order to do so I know I need the exercise too. I am not an exercise freak and am not nearly as dedicated to exercise as I am to eating right, but I know the two of them go hand in hand to keep you well and keep the body working right. I encourage all of you to eat right AND exercise! Keep up the good work, everyone!! I am so proud of all of you!! :D |
To all those who have not PMed or posted weight! I would like to make sure that I get everyone on the chart that wants to be there!! If you do want to be on the Weekly Report, please PM me your weight. We are weighing in every Sunday, remember, and either posting the weight here on this thread, or PMing me for club-only privacy. Also, if you want to receive the report, please PM me your email address. I am sorry I have not sent the report out yet this week. Not that many people have reported their Sunday weight. I will try to send by Saturday at the latest. :p |
calculation's to figure calorie intake etc.. Circumference: Waist and hip measurements are unaffected by water, muscle or other outside influences. "In many ways, these numbers are even better than BMI, weight or even body fat percentage because they’re more stagnant," says Gidus. And they tell you if you’ve lost inches -- not just water weight. Weight: Research shows that people who weigh themselves regularly are the most likely to maintain and lose weight. Even though weight fluctuates -- you can gain a few pounds just from being, er, a little backed up -- checking in with the scale every day will give you a better idea of your progress. Calories and Fat: Need a no-nonsense way to determine your daily allotment of calories and fat grams? Take your goal weight and multiply it by 11 if you’re a woman and 12 if you’re a man. So a woman who wants to weigh 140 pounds should get about 1,540 calories each day (140 x 11). Since experts recommend that 30 percent of calories should come from fat, multiply your calorie goal by .3 (30 percent) and then divide by nine (since there are nine calories in one gram of fat) to get your daily quota of fat. So the woman in this example should shoot for about 51 grams of fat. Target Heart Rate: To figure out your target heart rate, subtract your age from 220 and then multiply by 60 to 85 percent. “That’s the range you hit during exercise for maximum calorie burning,” says Gidus. Using a heart-rate monitor during your workouts can help you make sure you’re in the “zone.” --Amy Paturel |
GREAT Information ! Thanks so much - that whole BMI thing always gets me scratchin my head - now I guess I should figure out mine and go from there - (I just did - 1133 cals would be good for 130) :) Glad and Pat - you'd be PROUD - lots of veggies and chicken for me since New Years... HOW IS Popcorn with that Spray on Butter with O calories ? Is this ok to eat at night ? |
I like it except... Quote:
However, personally I think the fat count is too high in the above calculation. JMO, but I try to limit fat as much as possible. Works for me, may not work for others. Maybe if you are getting your fat calories from GOOD fats such as nuts and low fat spreads, it could add up to that, but if within your fats you are eating a lot of saturateds and trans, it could be trouble. :( I may not understand the calcs well because I don\'t do weights and measures. Pat might be able to comment on that end, she is the eating scientist in this group. :eyeballpc If some folks can lose weight eating almost one third of their calories in fats, more power to them. Just be careful about the kind of fats you eat. :D |
Gotcha !! You guys are GOOD at this... Now....About the popcorn ? with NO CAL Spray ? Is this ok ? |
Popcorn is an awesome food! Quote:
Hope you are feeling slender these days, my friend! :p |
