Excellent, Teri! Welcome to the Club! I understand there are probably going to be a few of us for whom exercise is not going to be possible, and that's OK. Like a few people have already said, healthy eating is important onto itself. Like I mentioned before, I lost all my weight before I began an exercise program because of changing my eating habits. For those of us who can exercise, it also helps to tone, and exercise can do that. Anyone who can combine the two, go for it! Have you thought about the question, "What does healthy eating mean to me?" |
What Does Heatlhy Eating Mean To Me Glad, Healthy eating means good organic vegetables and fruits as well as plenty of fibre. I think our biggest problems are sugar, fast food, and process food. All of these are killers for our bodies. I also think that pesticides that are sprayed on our fruits and vegetables are take away what God originally put in them and it is causing all kinds of havoc on our bodies. I've even considered starting a garden this upcoming year to start growing a lot of my own fruits and vegetables. I am doing the research now. |
ok, how are we gonna show our results? Put them here? Weekly, biweekly, monthly? I am starting fresh tomorrow, since it is a new year and all. Hubby and I are challenging each other!! Good luck guys! |
Results report I would like to put that to a vote! It will be my first time making a poll, so that's exciting! I will start a new thread in the poll section for it, so give me a few minutes and go look, OK? :p |
Results Report continued OK, I would like to put that to a vote! I was going to make a poll for it, but they only want Yorkie related polls posted so we can't. Dang, it would have been my first poll and I was looking forward to it. SO, let's vote informally! The choice for reporting our results are: 1. Once a week on Sunday (beginning the lifestyle tomorrow, report a week from tomorrow) 2. Every other week on Sunday 3. Once a month on the first of the month. 4. Once a quarter 5. I don't WANT to report! (lol, hoping everyone will, that's where the support comes in!) |
My Vote My vote is once a month. |

Anyone else have input as to what healthy eating means to them? |
Question How should we track how we are doing? I normally don't weigh myself. One big reason is because I don't own a scale. If I decide to buy a scale, what kind should I get? |
There are loads of scales out there We got ours a Wal Mart. Doesn't have to be fancy, just accurate. Ours is digital. I actually weigh myself every day. Usually you will see the fad diets ask that you not do that. Weighing daily forces me to keep on top of when I am being a little naughty in my tendency to over-eat. I can regulate myself faster than if I only weighed myself once every 10 days or so and then have to deal with a 5 pound weight gain. I would think that if we set up the reports to be only once a month, we should at least weigh weekly so we can self-monitor. That's why I think we should report weekly, because there will be some weight losses to celebrate weekly! These losses will motivate others to do the same, I think! What say you, oh other respected club members? :D |
I'm definitely in... |
Hey Glad! I'm so glad that you started this. You already know that I put myself on another "lifestyle change" the 1st of October. I gained several pounds from some surgeries (heart & vascular related). I could only walk at 1.5 mph per my vascular surgeon. Can you walk that SLOW? I have made myself walk 1 mile on the treadmill after breakfast, 1 mile after lunch & again 1 mile after supper. It's surprising what you can do when YOU really want to do it. I had a cousin tell me when I was about 20 that I need to take care of my body because if I don't, no one else will do it for me!*! I've had to watch the fat, sodium & cholesterol for many years (since age 49 when I had a heart attack). But recently I found a program on the internet called "Diet Organizer" where I learned about calories which I had shunned learning about all my life. I use this program every day since I started losing weight the 1st of October. It isn't free but only costs about $29.95 which is more than worth it. As you so stated, it really isn't a diet. It is another "Livestyle Change". The main thing I do to keep from getting hungry is DRINK WATER & LOTS OF IT!! I used to make excuses to myself that it makes me nauceous if I'm hungry but I got over that battle with myself. The biggest change I've done recently is to cut out white flour, white potatoes, white rice, white pasta, stopped drinking sodas & started drinking water. I eat meat in small portions & eat more vegetables every day. I only snack on apples. Since the 1st of October, I have gone from 144 to 128 & that's all on my own because I felt like I needed it! Add me to your list! More than happy to be considered one of your followers. I'm new to this site but feel I've already made some great friends. Good luck in 2006 to everyone!  HAPPY NEW YEAR! |
Wow, Pat & Nedda, WELCOME! I am happy to see you here, my friends! We can all learn so much from each other, and I already know you have a lot to contribute. Pat, you are clearly a connection in the "diet can influence health" area. You will help us all out greatly! Welcome to the Club, Ladies! :D |
Well ladies! I'm getting on my treadmill for the 3rd time today & walking another mile! There is nothing better you can do but to help yourself! |
You're an inspiration! Quote:
