I Am Pissed Off! OMG! I am so freakin angry right now that I could just smash something!! I have a "friend" named Sandra (I don't know if I consider her a friend anymore after this crap) who adopted a beautiful little Russian Blue female RESCUE cat about 1 year ago. This cat was sooooo adorable and sweet. Plus she was already spayed and up to date on all shots. Sandra and her husband, Charley, only kept this cat for 1 month. Then one day Charley got "mad" at the cat and kicked it out the front door in the MIDDLE OF WINTER while there was SNOW ON THE GROUND!! I was so damn angry at him for doing that and at Sandra for allowing him to do that. I knew that Charley was getting fed up with the cat (god only knows why) and he wanted to get rid of it. So I had told him many times that if he decides to get rid of it, PLEASE give it to me and I would find a home for it. But what did he do? He threw the poor beauty out in the dead of winter. Bastard! After I found out, my husband and I drove around their block for hours in search of this cat. But I was not able to find her. :( So anyway, about 2 months ago Charley told me that he wanted to buy a female Siberian Husky. I said to him, "ARE YOU CRAZY?? You couldn't even take care of a simple 6 lb cat!! And now you want a BIG dog which will require a lot more attention then a cat???" Also his wife Sandra is HIGHLY allergic to fur. But Charley was seriously adamant about getting a dog -- so I felt that if they were going to get one regardless of what I said to discourage them, I should at least direct them to a GOOD breeder so that they don't buy from a pet shop. I found them a GREAT breeder in PA but the breeder didn't have any pups available right now. She told us that she was going to breed her female sometime in February when she came into heat. So Charley said that he'd wait and get a pup from her -- and I was at least happy that he'd have some time to think this whole situation over and maybe even reconsider. Well what did the RETARD do? He went to A World of Pets (PUPPY MILL! ) and bought a Siberian Husky from them!! I was sooooo pissed! But here's the part that really makes my blood boil ... he only kept the pup for 2 weeks and then returned her because "she was too much work and because Sandra was allergic to her"!!!!!!!! Well HELLLLOOOOO if you cannot handle a cat, then how the heck are you going to handle a damn big dog?? And if your wife has SEVERE allergies, what makes you think a Siberian Husky won't trigger those allergies? :thumbdown The reason I am even more angry today is because Sandra just called me and said that she and Charley are now thinking of getting another cat!!! I said to her, "ARE YOU SERIOUS?? Why don't you go search fro the cat that you thew out last year?" And then I hung up on her! PS - A World of Pets did NOT return any of his money -- He paid $1,000 for the dog. I'm GLAD that they did not return his money -- he deserves it! PSS - It pisses me off that they threw out a RESCUE cat in particular. That cat was already saved from the streets, she was all cleaned up, spayed and up to date on shots. She had a second chance at life and then was thrown out into the streets again! I feel so sorry for that poor baby. :( |
Stupid, ignorant people! |
wow jen, people like that would not be a friend of mine.. im glad you hung up on them... they really dont deserve to have a pet, not even a fish..they both are real ass-----. this makes me mad too   stay away from them both, you know its gonna happen again, you know they will get another pet and do the same..  |
I am so glad he lost all of his money too!!!!!!! What are they thinking?! |
Oh my that is horrible. You would think he would have learned his lesson by now. I wonder what why he keeps making such big mistakes? |
Sorry but they would definitely be off my friend list..grrrrrrrrrrrrrr  I would also tell the rescue group what they did so they could pass the word on these people so any other rescue group would have their names blocked also. Your name would not be involved and you will be saving another animal from this same kind of fate. I do not tolerate "so called friends" that are cruel to animals. |
I totally understand your anger.. what a jerk! I work with guy like that,, we have had it out many times,,,he get's animals. gets rid of them, ( dumps them) Unbelievable,, DO they both have SHORT term memory problems?? I would have hung up too.. YOU don't need to deal with that, it is obvious they are gonna make their own STUPID mistakes.. WOW..is all I can say. |

Sounds like your friends shouldnt have pets at all. I know this had to be really upsetting to you. Everyone here on yorkietalk are animal lovers. Anyone that would kick a cat shouldnt have a pet.I feel so sorry for that cat. |
Grrr! that upsets me also. Why are some people soo ignorant! I am also glad he lost his money, having a pet is a lot of responsibility and he should of thought about that before fronting that kind of money. :thumbdown |
 These people sound a little crazy! That is sooo sad what they did to that poor cat! And how awful he bought a dog from the pet store! I am glad that they didn't give him his money back too! |

sorry, but i think these people are mental retired :thumbdown  |
Wow after you explained your situation w/ her.. it is WAY similiar to one I HAD,, same issues and guilt trips, and me being the care taker, for 20+ years. Eventually You have to take care of you,,and not worry about her,, I had the same issues,, till I couldn't think straight, sleep or stop worrying about her,, and that is just how SHE wanted it,,,, Distance yourself from the situation,,and see if there are any changes,, if NOT,, distance more,,that's what I had to do,, and I'm still distancing... as we speak. Good luck.. |
What a jerk! That makes me angry, too. I don't know how things go in New York, but I know that animal abandonment is a punishable crime, here in PA. Also, I know that most shelters make the new owner sign papers assuring that they will not abandon the animal, and will return it to the shelter if for any reason, they cannot take care of it. If that is how things work up there, then this guy could be in for some hefty fines. Maybe this isn't something you feel is right to do, but how about contacting the shelter, and asking them about their policies? I know if it was through the Humane Society, they would be happy to do a little checkup on this jerk. Regardless, you are so right. He should learn from the past that he is just not able to take care of animals the way he should. And as for the $1000 he lost... GOOD (except for the fact that he just contributed to a puppy mill...bad) Serves the guy right! |
I am posting this again so people understand they do have some avenue's with this kind of treatment. Many rescue groups across the country and state share this kind of behavior with other rescue groups and each group keeps a "do not adopt to" file. I would also tell the rescue group what they did so they could pass the word on these people so any other rescue group would have their names blocked also. Your name would not be involved and you will be saving another animal from this same kind of fate. |
Call the rescue she came from and tell them what happened. Where I am the cat rescue after it places a cat will come back and take it if they feel it is in harms way. Joy |
I would notify the rescue too. |
I completely understand your anger and frustration as I myself got very angry reading that!! I know you are trying to be a good friend, but being around people like that would drive me CRAZY!! |
Sad, so very sad. :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown    |
I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this! I can't imagine being friends with people who would do such terrible things to animals and then be expected to sit back and watch them bring more innocent beings into their homes knowing what their fate will be once they have worn out their welcome. I will pray that you find guidance for this situation and definitely peace of mind. Take care! |

Not only did they get rid of the cat and return the puppy, but they've had other pets and got rid of them too! They had an ADORABLE little Chinchilla and they gave it back to the pet store after 1-2 months. They had 2 snakes which died. They had pet mice which they let lose on the streets after they got bored with them. It is mostly Charley that wants all these pets and then wants to get rid of them. Sandra really liked the cat and was upset when Charley got rid of it but she's too weak to stand up to him. She also did NOT want to get a dog in the first place but whatever Charley wants, Charley gets. He's such a bully. :thumbdown The only pet they ever kept LONG term is this bird/parrot named Choco. They actually treat him very good. Charley just bought a brand new $350 cage for him. But that still doesn't redeem him in my eyes. |

Jennifer, how comfortable would you be to tell them that your feelings are about your soul and that you cannot continue with this relationship if they continue to do what they do? You view this as animal abuse (same as child abuse in my mind but I never had children) and then tell them that you will start reporting them as you can not allow this to continue. I would still report them to the rescue as they will protect your name but you could go on record with your "friends". This will be a tough thing for you to do and it will be very difficult for you but I know we as a nation must start speaking up for the animals. I have made my decision that the dogs I rescued took priority over an human's feelings. It was a choice I had to make. I have even turned my niece down for a dog because she just was not responsible enough. It is always tough and I do my darnest to try and sugar coat the truth but in the end I know I did what was right for the dog. Many times even on YT I have to bite my tongue because of situations I see on people being ignorant on dogs. At least I think if people are coming to YT they are willing to listen and they didn't get these little Yorkies as an accessory. Even if they did maybe, just maybe they will learn that these creatures, love, hurt and have feelings. |
Wow...They sound like they have no regard for animals at all. They're obviously in love with the idea of owning a pet, but they obviously don't seem responsible enough or patient enough to care for any kind of furbaby. It's too bad that you're put in this position where you feel like you have to be loyal to your friend, but you're doing the right thing by telling her what you think...I can tell that you're not afraid to tell her what you think, and that's great! She needs to hear the truth even though she's not well. This Charley guy needs to not make important decisions like this so flippantly! |
