How do you do it... For those of you who have in-laws (parent, sibling, etc.) how do you get along with them? Just wanting to hear how other people get along and your personal experiences... Hope to get a LOT of responses.... :) Thanks YT! |
Haha, Actually I get along with my In-law a lot more then I get along with my family haha :) Sorry I am not much help, but I can say I do not get along with my brother in law(my sister husband) or his family(other then his parents) and it very very hard spending time with them, they never grew up or something... very crude and rude and so nasty to be around. SO we limit the time we spend over at my sisters, if the whole gang is around  |

Well as far as my inlaws go I get along with them pretty well, my brothers and sisters there are six of us with me being the oldest and I am not living at home anymore thank goodness bc we fight constantly. I work with my mom so we get along pretty well. |

My inlaws claim to LOVE me now, but when I was dating my husband (the oldest of 7 their kids) they really hated me and called me horrible names, etc. So, I don't know how to react when they're nice to me. This Christmas was the 1st one that I've spent away from my family and it was interesting to say the least. |
I didn't realize you were asking about one's own family too. I get along with mine (own a business w/ one brother),talk to the other frequently love all the spouses and the nieces and nephews. But the secret is......my family is NORMAL |
LOL,,,,,, you gotta love family! My mothter in law is also my stepmother. And I would have to say I do love her very much but I tell ya,,, we have gotten into some good ones over the years! I had a very hard time hearing the words come out my dads mouth,,,,, "Are you coming over tonight?" I was in the hospital having my son and I was hoping I was just hearing things,,,,,, but nope I sure wasn't. It was the hardest thing to get used to but as long as the are both happy that's all that matters. |

well, im divorced now , but me and my mother in law loved each other.. i took her everywhere .. shopping she just loved. especially the dollar stores and junk stores...i was closer to her than my mom, well not really, but she was just as special. after my divorce, i havent seen her in 7 years, i ran into her in the hospital visiting a friend. well let me tellyou, it was like we never were apart. she cried, held me tight and said she loves me and i was the best thing that ever happened to her son...im in touch with her now and am now talking to her son.. she needs me and i love her...i was a good daugher in law, not like the one she has now... |
This is such a great post!!! My hubby's parents are....different...to say the least! My family is very loving and we try to do things together all of the time. His family hardly ever tries to arrange visits, etc. with us. As a matter of fact, they have been known to visit family that only live 20 minutes away from us and NEVER call us!!!! BUT...when I do have to be around them, I just remember that if it were not for them, I wouldn't have my wonderful husband. So I smile, mind my manners, and remember that they are the reason that I have the sweetest, most wonderful man in the world!!!! |
Need to learn that one... Quote:

That's nice :) My sister in law had a wonderful relationship with my mother. When my mother passed away, my sil was as devastated as we were. :( I sometimes wished I had that with mine, but it didn't happen. Shoot, she made it pretty dang hard just being AROUND her, much less love her. |

My hubby's family is really nice, but I'm still having trouble adjusting to hanging with them. They are very quiet and just sit around watching t.v. and my family is in constant motion. His one brother is a little off and his uncles are pretty much rednecks. But they all like me. His mom is just so happy to have a girl around to talk to. |
