Gail, I am just seeing this now. What a nightmare! Glad you have your power back, but I am sorry for the water damage. I know how dreadful that can be. My brothers both lost cars and a lot of household items in a Chicago flood a couple years ago. :( I hope Razzle is doing well today after all of the unusual and scary noise. |
The rains have been so bad these past few weeks it is flooding everywhere. Thankfully you have your utilities and everyone is safe ! |
It is so very true, we are lucky lucky! Even Karma has perked up. And it serves me right I should have cleaned out that basement long ago. I need to find some plastic containers and just keep that which is truly needed. A wake up call for sure. |
Gail, I am so sorry you are having to endure the wrath of Mother Nature.....I have been so predisposed with impending babies, I have not seen news/weather reports for a week now.....and it seems all heck has broke loose....I see from your post, you have power now...but also are expecting more rain tonight....my prayers are with you....please be careful and do nothing that is even questionable in your mind. When we find ourselves in an emergent situation, sometimes we can get caught up in "reaction action", which can blind or at least blur, decisions we make concerning safety. I know with your personality and presence of mind, you have emergency plans formulated well ahead of any disaster....plans made with clear thought to detail....stick with those plans....make adjustments cautiously, and dont follow panic modes displayed by people around you! I will be praying for you and your situation and your family.....thank goodness to date, you have not sustained tooooo much damage. I hate books were damaged, but rather books than structural damage, expensive electrical equipment/appliances, etc. |
My biggest worry was my pets. What if they had gotten sick? Literally I could not have moved them anywhere to a vets office or emergency hospital safely that Monday night. West of me 80% of the city of Mississauga had no power. South and east of me the same for Toronto right over as far as Keele St. Downtown didn\'t suffer so much more sporadic outages. North of me I would have to travel through teeming rain and no lights probably to Caledon, how-ever that has no ER hospital only my ortho vet. |
We got a taste of Mother Natures furry yesterday afternoon. It was a pretty mild storm with very little damage in our area compared to other places near us that got slammed. They think a tornado may have touched down in the next town over. We lucked out... this time ! |
