Oh...and let's not forget Mark Sanford. If he can make a comeback, anyone can. I mean, forget about what he told his wife...he told his staff he would be hiking on the Appalachian Trail.

Oh...and of course Anthony Weiner who is running for NYC Mayor. I honestly don't care about his online activities but I am using him as another example of the public being forgiving.

Oh, Weiner, yes, yes. The media gave him a sound send off couple years back! There is a growling rogues gallery over the years of public figures who cross the line, get tarred-and-feathered by the news and social media and then find their way back in some form or fashion. People with money have a way of doing that.

Indeed they do. I really hate using the politicians because I don't mean to say their offenses were in any way similar.
BUT....here is one for you: Alec Baldwin The man goes into homophobic rants and everyone ignores it...yet Paula gets slammed for using the N word 30 years ago. Go figure.
I guess it is ok to discriminate against gays? Crazy world we live in.

If the n word is so offensive why do black people call each other that? Why do they listen to music that has the word in it many times?

I am not trying to be mean or anything like that. I am just saying why does every body freak out over a word that black people call each other and singers use in there songs when someone not black uses the word yet Asians, Mexicans, Spanish, Indians,whites, ect get called a name and no one cares? I'm not racist never have been I dated a two black guys and had many friends who were black. But I absolutely can not get over the fact that its ok for some people to use a word but not the other people it drives me crazy. No one who was a slave or who is from that time is still around so everyone should let the slave thing go it was horrible but I should not be punished for it neither should other people. If the n word is so terrible then black people should not use it.

I get what you are saying. Two things... one be carful of grouping people together.. SOME blacks call SOME whites names..


Second... at this time in our culture IMO because in the past the eurpoean whites had been so dominate and in power and perhaps curel it is payback time.. it feels like it is ok to call us names and we do not have "white" groups for example "white Miss America" but that is now.. I do hope in the future it will changed. It is a time of healing and working out a new system. I have seen reverse hatred but I blame that person not that group.

I agree with you in the statment just because you may have had a great great grand father was a slave ower you can not be blamed .. just like we can't blame all Germans for wwII.. people must be judged for the here and now...

Paula.. well she is of that generation that is mid change. I think the word is horrible.. but it is just a word and I am more worried about the meaning behind it.. how it is used, even why it is used. I do wonder if it will ever go away becuase it has other meanings such a "home boy" type affection -- well at least that is what I have been told.

Go back to page 2. It's not a perfect answer to your question, but yorkietalkjilly adressed your question. She explains why some people choose to use that word in an effort to take the sting out of such a hurtful word.
