Yes, and I'm scared to death someone of the downstairs staff will tell the wrong person and it will get back to law enforcement or something that he's an excellent forger and some how, some way, it will bring remembrance to the dead wife's diary and he be accused of forging her suicide entry - or whatever it was she put in that diary that got him out of prison eventually. I have forgotten what she said in that diary that got him out of prison but as I recall she was feeling suicidal or something? Julian Fellowes said (paraphrasing here) "No one is every very happy for long on Downtown Abbey" with a particularly evil eye look about him when asked in a recent interview I saw about how Bates and Anna were going to fare in the coming season and I thought oh my gosh, he's going after Bates again just to frustrate us all! I don't know - that whole forgery thing seemed too contrived and purposefully placed in the story not to be important. But hopefully, I've just read too many mysteries and it will turn out to be nothing that will hurt Bates and Anna, now that they are so happy.

I hope it wasn't the last! It will probably be a long wait for another season. I don't see them being able to keep up as long as Downton Abbey.

I'm currently watching The Bletchley Circle, as season 2 started last week. It's a mystery show set after the war, and while I don't usually like mystery type shows at all, I'm really enjoying this one. That and my current daily dose of CBB is getting me by.

Fave line from her ladyship last night (Maggie Smith): "If you're looking for logic, the last place you should be looking is the British upper classes!" .... Love it.

Love that line and Maggie Smith! She always has the best quips. Wish I had a grandmother or aunt exactly like her character on the show. :D

I agree, Maggie has the BEST lines!
As for Anna, she is the "perfect" character for this horrible thing to happen to- she is normally so strong where as any of the others would probably off themselves because of it. This is going to make a tense season, she is going to try and hide it and figure out how to deal with it on her own. It isn't a situation that was talked about back then, heck even now a days it isn't usually talked about. Back then, especially, men could do no wrong, she would be blamed entirely. This is going to draw a huge line between her and Bates, but I believe in their strength as a couple and am sure that they'll get through it, whether she tells him about it or not, though I think she eventually will.
Edna can go away again, now. I don't like her character, though that it exactly why she is back in the fray. She is now the female we will love to hate.
I'm glad Edith is finally glaming up, I'm just so sick of her desperation with men all of the time. So grasping about ANY man that shows her a little bit of attention. Of course, THAT behaviour is par for the course in that time frame for a "not as attractive as her sisters" heiress. She is constantly having to prove her worth as a woman.
I'd like to see more interactions with Daisy and her father-in-law. I love how much she's grown as a calm, responsible adult.

DA is so well written, directed, photographed, acted and edited - it's a pleasure to have a few episodes to watch each year though it seems the season's over just when it started. Way too short but they keep you panting for more that way. And it's so true to human nature - just love every single frame I've ever seen.

Last I read, The Paradise was picked up for a second series. If, however, it ends up not happening, at least they ended it on a "happy" note!
