I was a faithful Clinique user for years. They discontinued my makeup and I have had such a hard time finding a decent makeup. I have tried numerous ones and I'm just not happy with them. I need something that lasts through the day, light color since I'm fair completed (I don't want to have to mix colors), prefer a liquid, and need coverage to hide the mild redness on my cheek area. See my high demands! Haha. Can you please give me some suggestions? I have had numerous ladies at different places try to help me. They usually recommend something and send me on my way. $40 - $50 later I find out I don't like it. So can you answer a few questions for me?

What brand do you use?
Is it light coverage or heavy coverage?
Does it last all day or do you have to touch it up throughout the day?
Where do you buy it?
How much is it?

Just wondering - what line of Clinique was it, and in which shade (I love Clinique too). As you know, we're behind the times here :rolleyes: so thought maybe I could track it down and send it over to you, if it still exists? Just let me know :) Sally x

It was the Workout makeup All Day Wear. The color is Cloud. It lasted all day and was great for my pale color!

Do you wear Clinique now? If so, which are you using?

No, I changed to The Body Shop, not the liquid but the All-in-1 face base in a compact (I didn't like to mention that, as very unsure whether we have the same 'makes'!). I love it, as I too have tiny pale red patches on the tops of my cheeks, and you can kind of build it up like a concealer if need be.

I'll look into it for you Rhonda - there are a couple of really good Clinique stockists that I go to, that I'm sure will help if they possibly can, they know me well....:D

I'm currently just using their 'Dramatically Different' moisturiser, plus I love their twist up eye pencils as I always get 'sharpenings' all over the floor....:rolleyes:

Have you ever tried mineral makeup? I only wear blush and have never worn face makeup, but I have tried minerals and they look so natural, cover a lot, and provide a great sunscreen. My sister, who is in the business of making men and women look more beautiful, only carries mineral makeup because of how strongly she believes in it, and so many companies have added it to their product lines. If you like Clinique, have you tried Origins? I like their products.

I have tried the mineral makeup but I didn't care for it. I needed to touch up too much. I tried a powder and a liquid one. I have never heard of Origins. Where do you get it?

Origins is in a lot of the major department stores. It's one of the Estee Lauder companies that focuses on all natural products. If you buy any of these products from a department store, you can try them and bring them back if you don't like it.

You might want to try using your mineral makeup with a wet sponge if you want more coverage and you still have it.

Just off the phone to my mum, she asked if one of the one's you've already tried is Estee Lauder?

She too is a great Clinique lover, HER one (Bisque?) was discontinued too...but she's currently using a Lauder one and is very happy with it. I think she said it was 'Double Wear' :confused: Sally x

You have got to try this, I swear to goodness its awesome, a tiny bit goes a long way and you can make it sheer or full coverage and I tell you it covers redness.

A girl at work looked so much better lately and she said everyones been telling her that, and she told us she started using it. I haven't purchased anything other than $50 makeup in years and I'm telling you this new Covergirl stuff is unbelieveable.

I don't know if you could possibly figure out your color or go to a Sephora store this weekend, but this might be worth it to try for this price. There is free shipping this weekend.

Hah - I feel your pain, Rhonda! It seems whenever a product really works for me it often ends up being discontinued! (I take that as a clue that maybe I'm stuck in a groove [read rut] and need to change! Have I really been using the product that long?! lol) But, it really is a pain when you have something you like, that works for you and then it's no longer available!

I, like you, have a fair complextion and have always used Clinique and Lauder products. And, like you, I'm also on the (agonizing) hunt for a new foundation; spending $40-$50 on each of my new test runs. After trying Clinique, Lancombe, Lauder... so far I ended up loving the Lauder foundations best.

I've found the Lauder "Double Wear Stay In Place" foundation is great! It's non-oily, lasts all day, has a decent, natural-looking coverage (no looking like you're 'plastered'). It also has an SPF10. That being said, I've still spent lots of extra $$ going through their various shades trying to find the perfect one. Gah!

Anyway, good luck in your search - I just wanted to chime in with a recommendation for Estee Lauder's Double Wear Stay In Place foundation. I hope you find something that you love ... and that it stays around for awhile! :)

Ack! :eek: That seems to be how it goes... I had a spray hair gel that I loved that was discontinued... regularly selling for around $25-$30 ... and I ended up only being able to find it on Amazon for $65! So, I got 3 of them, just so I'd be set for awhile. This was after I'd spent $$ trying different products that just didn't really do it for me (and ended up being useless). Geesh! :rolleyes:

Maybe if you purchase the Workout makeup on eBay, you can justify the cost. I know that when I shopped around and tried tons of new products (that didn't quite cut it), I spent (wasted) WAY more $ than if I'd just bit the bullet and spent the outrageous, inflated cost on the item I actually loved. Just sayin'. I know, not great... but something to think about.

I love love LOVE Laura Mercier silk creme foundation. Full coverage. Lasts ages and makes you stay matte.

Alternately, I like Revlon colorstay for drugstore.

I only wear Bare Minerals myself because of how picky my skin is and I want something that will cover and hid my freckles on my face which I must say is a huge job :p

Yes! The tinted moisturizer is great too!! I'm a big Laura Mercier fan. The "Eye Basics" eye primer is wonderful. I use that with no eye shadow. It makes your eyes brighter & "rounder" I guess is the best way to say it...more awake. The "Secret Camouflage" is the best concealer ever.

As far a foundations go... Estee Lauder Double Wear is my favorite. I've been using that for years. I use the liquid mostly. In the summer, I use the powder foundation a lot. I would def try Estee Lauder. The counter at Bloomie's will give you a small sample in your shade good for about a week, so you can test it out. They have REALLY good promotions too ;)

Rhonda, I just hate it when something gets discontinued that I love.

I have splotty red colored skin, that is dry, and have been using Olay tinted moisturizer for about 5 years. (for me, fair/medium) I actually buy it at Krogers and it costs $23.00. It works amazingly for me and I really think the vitamin e in the stuff is slowing down the aging look. Not sure that would work for you, but just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. :)

For 20 years, I've been using Aveda Dual Powder - it's a powder that can be used dry or wet (I use it dry) - the coverage is just beautiful, natural, and I'd call it medium (but good!) coverage.
