I'm glad my embarassment could amuse you :p :D

Today has been a test. I've said several times, "I need a cigarette." I think I'm letting things get too close to me lately so I need to just step back from those things.

Don't worry - I won't smoke! I promise.

You gotta expect days like this so hit the treadmill first chance and then get busy doing something else. Chew that gum and whatever else but tough it out. Your body will eventually "forget" its want of nicotine in your cells! You are in my prayers! I think of you so often and send a prayer your way.

Excellent strategy, step back, don't let them get to you, you don't need a cigarette ...make it your mantra (LOL). Keep it up, great work so far!!!

If I focused at all on a cigarette, I wanted one more. I had to focus more on deep breathing, I swear the only time I use to take a deep breath was when I inhaled, so deep breathing really helped me. Some of those relaxation exercises are also helpful.

It didn't work the same way with me, I was trying to re-wire my brain and habitual thinking - turn it around from being attracted to a cigarette to something else. But, I also used exercise (kind of deep breathing!) to distract myself.

Yep, different strokes for different folk, whatever it takes to stop the smokes! :p

Agreed!!! I think I was using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) on myself. :)
