I had long nails that were mine from age 11 until about 4yrs ago. I started taking a med that made them very thin and brittle so I now have acrylic nails, natural with lavendar tips. Sometimes I have pink tips, white tips or red tips. I do miss my nails, but I do not miss the polish chipping when I do dishes nor do I miss doing my own nails. |

I want to try doing something like that! |
Please put sunscreen on your hands and fingers before you go get a gel manicure, ladies! |
If you're looking for something new and trendy you could try out one of the new polishes that gives nails texture. OPI has the new liquid sand line and Zoya did one called Pixie Dust. Personally I like the Zoya collection more. Texture is huge is the nail world right now. If I wasn't so OCD about my nails being completely smooth I would definitely try out Zoya Chyna or Dahlia. But since I can't stand for my nails to not be smooth for now I'm sticking to OPI Pompeii Purple for a nice break into Spring color. It has been cloudy and rainy all day and I've been bummed out over some stuff so I'm really tempted to switch my manicure to Essie Wicked for a look that is less cheery. Otherwise the next color in my rotation will be Essie Orange, It's Obvious to capitalize on the orange trends in makeup going on right now. Have y'all seen the orange lipstick trend? |
I've done all of the above. I used to do acrylic nails, but they destroy your nail beds and look tacky (imo). I then tried the gel/shellac manicures. They are good, but they do mess up your nails a little. It isn't horrible, but it's not like regular nail polish. It stays on longer, but for now I am enjoying switching my polish every week with my OPI polishes. Like Carmen said, if you are going to get the gel manicures, wear sunscreen! It's like a tanning bed for your hands... |

I did the solar nails for a long time but stopped....no patience for sitting there every 2 weeks. I found myself sitting there thinking about other things I needed to do. Plus, I have saved a lot of money ... it gets costly and when you have as many pups getting sick as I do, you look for sacrifices you won't miss. It took quite some time for my nails to heal from those things. They were thin and so sensitive. Once in a while I think of going back because my nails are so short and stubby now, but I remind myself of how I felt having them....trapped! I am with Shinja....only go for pedicures now. |
