Sending you all the warm weather I can. It is too warm here for Heat and to cool for A/c so our concrete block house is getting all yucky and damp! I got to wear a sweater this morning:) but its almost 80 now:( |
I've complained today at having 72 degrees instead of winter temps. I'm tired of warm weather all the time and would love a "little" snow. ;) I remember one winter in Minot, ND where the windchill was 100 below. Kids all went to school, but the pipes broke at the middle school so all the schools on base closed. That same winter we got so much snow, that it covered the entire back side of the house and we lost power for 3 days. We all camped out in the kitchen and living room. Not fun to have too much snow sometimes. |
A wind chill of 100 below ZERO(!) seems like something out of a nightmare to somebody born in Dallas, Texas and lived all of my days here. It's 67 here now, the sun's been out all day and I'm covered in a heated throw and wore a jacket out to run errands today. 100 degrees below ZERO! There is no way people can live in that, my mind tells me. And kids! And Zada says kids went to school in weather that felt like it was 100 degrees below ZERO? I would be hospitalized asking for hot IV's, two dozen warming blankets and my feet in a toaster over if I'd had to open the door in weather like that, let alone go to school in it!!! Ya'll are just made of thicker skin or something and my hat it off to you. Are you freezing in your house right now? I would think so. Brrrrrrrrrrr. We had that one winter back in the early 90's where it was zero here one night and I thought I'd freeze in place but 100 degrees below that as to what the body feels is completely unimaginable. Is the wind howling and snow all over everywhere or just inches of ice? You would think a Yorkie would freeze in place after 3 seconds of walking out in that. I sure do hope you get some kind of decent weather before all your heating units break! I'm blowing up North as hard as I can. |
Yorkiedaze...I think I remember the winter you are talking about...I lived by Lake of the woods for many years and there was one winter we had -80 for like2-3 days in a row and tons of snow...it was the only time government offices had ever closed for two days straight because of dangerous temps. It only got to I think -35 below today but due to the weather many schools were closed or started late. Because of the wind many roads were difficult to drive on. One road was closed. A coworker actually for stuck in a snowdrift on the road and luckily a guy in a 4wheel drive truck came through and pulled her out. It was so cold it took my breath away when I stepped out the door. Lots of cars didn't want to start this morning!!! |
Yay! It worked- at least here, it is downright chilly this morning! I hope the warm air we sent got up to you;)! |
