| Not only that, but just bc something is made in say Italy, doesn't mean it's an old Italian artisan working in a quaint little cottage. A lot of Chinese immigrants are going to countries like Italy and working there, for less than an Italian would work for. Same old story.

I boycott China because I don't like their government, I fail boycotting India over our egyptian cotton but Indian is horrid about child labor. I felt I was comprimising my China boycott enough with Milo's skylander stuff. At least we exceeded our Made In USA shopping by double our goal with local goods for out of town family, shopping at a few local (community center ) events, green toys but I'mstill feeling semi disapointed atm.

There's a small gift show here in Los Angeles. It's called Unique LA. It started as a "hand made, local made" show for artisans to make stuff and then sell. Have the local public come and buy their wares for gifts before Christmas. Great idea right? I was even thinking about buying a booth there to showcase and sell my stuff. I ended up not getting one, and not attending either, but someone I knew went and she got a bunch of stuff. (She's not an artisan, she's more of a crafter, so I guess she doesn't really see how things are made into quite as much detail) She was wearing some jewelry that she bought at the show. I asked her if she made it, bc I recognized all the components of the jewelry as stuff from Joann's. All of it was made in China. So how is this local, hand made? Someone just went to Joann, bought a bunch of stuff and strung it together. That's not Made in USA. Obviously I don't weave my own fabric, but I want to know where it's from. Just bc I sew it up in the US, doesn't necessary mean it's made in the US unless ALL the components that went into it were also made in US. Man I am so rant-y today aren't I. ![]()

| Oh and another thing! The stuff I ordered on Cyber Monday just barely got shipped out on Friday! One order didn't even go out until today! A whole week to just get it out of the warehouse! All these companies must have made a killing, bc we were pretty slow over here. Had anyone gotten their Cyber Monday orders yet? I'm still looking at a few more days, prob the end of this week. =/

| I keep posting Made In USA stuff we bought this Christmas on my FB page hoping it will spread. Yeah some of local stores do that too, like the "all local" baby store a town over sells baby legs and they are made in china-sad I love rhem got several as a gift. Humboldt is BIG on local stuff I went to the Humarts Fair this last weekend all local artists who allow some out of town traveling artists in based on where they buy their materiala if its foreign it has to be proven fair trade certified. Community center in Arcata did another amazing Christmas show all local products, Fire &the Light, Holli Yashi etc. A lot of locally owned stores here either do Made In Humboldt Christmas stores or have the sections year round, to be fair I'm kind of spoiled living in an area where so manu local goods are so readily avalible and fair trade, ecofriendly etc items are common place. Never fails though...the other stuff always gets snuck in! Quote:
