Tomorrow is dh doctors appt.
 

I sure hope we get a good report tomorrow. He is able to use it a little but still very painful. I am sure hoping for a good X-ray. It will be one year next week.
We have stayed as positive as possible.

And then on the 26th of October my dad died. He was a healthy man. He and my mom had just made the trip to Texas as they winter there. They left on Tuesday got to Texas Wednesday night. Dad wasn't feeling well thought he had the flu Wednesday evening. Thursday still not feeling well but did do a few things like trying to get the Internet working. But then went back to bed. Friday morning he was vey weak and mom had a doctor appt. for him at 9:15. She had some friends going to help her but they said we need to take him by ambulance.
The ambulance was on its way when he collapsed and that was it.

We flew down which took way to long. Mom stayed with friends till we got there. I was able to go Saturday and say goodbye I needed that. My dad and I were very close and I can not believe he is gone. He was not big into hugs but when I helped them pack and saying my goodbyes for the winter months I gave him a hug and told him I loved him.( usually I wouldn't do this as he always says knock it off as he did this time) boy am I glad I did this. He was 78 years old way to young no known health problems. Mom is lost they were married almost 58 years. We brought her home for this winter which will be hard on her as they have not seen a winter for 13 years. She lives very close to me so I will be watching her like a hawk. She is pretty healthy thank goodness. The only comfort in this is my dad always said he wanted to go fast so guess he got that wish. Of course we all want him here with us instead .

And again my daughter came to my rescue and the pups got to stay home in their own house which is a comfort. She stayed for over a week so we could get the home in Texas shut down for this year. I have a amazing family and blessed for that.

Ann, I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. It is never easy to lose a parent and for it to happen so suddenly is very hard. I will keep you and your Mom in my prayers.
I pray that your DH gets good news tomorrow..you guys certainly deserve it!! ((hugs))

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Father...its never easy. I lost Dad 6years ago, we knew it was coming but still so very hard. I pray for peace and comfort for you and your family. I hope your husband gets good news tomorrow...((HUGGZZ))

I'm just seeing your thread and was shocked to hear about your father. I'm so sorry to hear about his sudden loss. It's an awful milestone in life when one's dad is no longer there and unless you've been through it, no one understands how kind of baseless you feel, as if your foundation in life is gone. I pray your mom can come to accept and live with it in time with some peace.

Of course I'll be praying your husband gets some good news - just any kind of hope that his body is starting to heal.

Hoping for good news for your hubby today. So sorry to hear about your dad.

The news is more surgery. They will take all the plates and screws out and fuse his ankle to his foot. He will have to be very very careful not to break the bones as they are still very weak. So cast for many weeks and no work at least for another six months:(. He was very happy there was no talk about taking the foot. So for that we are grateful. Surgery is set for Nov. 28th. So keeping praying we appreciate it.

The surgeon must think there is a chance he can possibly heal through this procedure and is going to take that chance for him. Hooray!!! Hopefully, there is enough blood/nerve supply in those bones that the cutting back to bleeding bone for fusing will generate a good spate of new bone growth and fuse those bones in a good, substantial unit that will remain stable.

Is his doctor really a top notch surgeon who has done this surgery successfully for years? If not, I would find one who specializes in these type malunion corrections. Don't let just any orthopod do this procedure.

I so pray this works for him and he can become mobile and work again. Being a man, I know he's bound to be stir crazy by now! I think you have real hope here.

We both really like the doctor. And it was a mess so it has came along way. We are in Rochester in one of the very best hospitals in our area. People come from all over to doctor here. So hopefully we are doing the right thing. Just is taken a lot of time. Sure wish I would win the lottery :). The foot itself looks amazing it is just the inside that is healing slow. Doctor is worried about all the arthritis already and feels this will make that better. And taking everything out he is going to have to be extremely careful not to rebreak. And he does have a small hole that is leaking maybe a inner infection. So may have to come home with a IV for awhile. He has had it since the beginning so he was not worried about that till now. So I guess time will tell

Oh it is so good you have a doctor with an excellent medical team, etc. The surgeon can often make the difference in a procedure with healing problems so it is good to know he's in capable hands. Prayers are being said for that surgeon, team and of course your husband. He deserves a good foot & ankle to walk on!

You've been thru so much for such a long time. I hope this surgery will repair his ankle and foot and that hubby has a speedy recovery. Hugs.

I'm just seeing this thread and my heart hurts for you and yours. I'm so sorry you lost your precious dad and send sincere sympathy. It's so hard to lose a parent. I'm also so sorry your hubby is still having such a time with his foot. Bless his heart. I'm so sorry about your father. Losing a parent is never easy especially at such short notice. Prayers to you and your family and also a lot of prayers to your husband that his surgery goes well and he feels better.

This is soooooooo very important for this type of surgery to be successful! I join everyone else in prayers for your husband....I can imagine how discouraging it must be to keep hearing, "gotta go back in.....".
