Black Friday!!!
 

One of my favorite days of the year Black Friday is quickly approaching.

Is anyone else planning to do some heavy duty shopping that day (or I should say the night before since everyone is opening earlier and earlier).

its the best day of savings for sure!!!! hope you get lots of good deals.

I like going shopping on Black Friday but there never is anything that I just HAVE to buy so I never feel crazy or overwhelmed with it. Last year was the first time my mom and I started out at night. It was actually sort of fun! She's a major shopper so I was more along for the ride, moral support, and someone to argue with (or at least to stop her from arguing with anyone else!)

You brave, BRAVE women! I get so stressed out with the traffic and crowds that I wait it out and do a lot more online shopping. The outlet mall that I used to live near in Concord was INSANE...they open at midnight every year for Black Friday...I think I went once or twice...never again! LOL

I used to work retail. I hate that day. Good. Luck with your fun and finds!

I just remind myself that NOTHING is worth the craziness that can ensue from BF so if someone wants to fight over an item, they can have it! It all stemmed from the year my mom and I went out (during the day) with my oldest daughter who wasn't even 1 at the time. We walked into Kohls and there was a stroller cart available so we grabbed it, my mom had her hand on the handle and I was just about to put my daughter in it when some crazy lady comes RUNNING at us, throws her stuff in the cart, grabs it from my mom and starts taking off with it! We were shocked and said, "Um, excuse me, we had that first." The lady said no it's hers. My mom said, "But we have a baby!" The lady said, "So, maybe I have a baby, too." and took off! I saw her a little later with NO baby and the cart loaded up so I went up to her and said, "Hmm, nice baby you have there. I hope you're proud of yourself for being a Black Friday Bitch." and walked away. So fast forward, we are standing in the RIDICULOUS long lines and the ladies behind us were saying how sad it was that we couldnt' have a stroller for the baby and that we had to carry all of our purchases so we relayed the story of the crazy lady. We had just finished the story when who should appear to talk to these ladies, but the crazy!?!?!?! I just looked at her and said, "Oh, speak of the devil, here she is." That crazy woman looked at us and RAN AWAY! She knew what she had done and now so did her friends! Well anyway, after we left there we went straight to Target and bought a stroller to keep at my mom's house for any future outings. I put it together in the parking lot and we continued on with our day. I was so upset with the Kohls ad last year that had a very rude woman singing "Friday" and pushing, stealing, and being a BF bully. They must have thought it was a funny ad but after having been subject to a BF bully like that I did NOT find it amusing!

I have been riding the Black Friday crazy wave for YEARS!!! One time years ago I was at Best Buys and they had George Foreman Grills as a door buster, well I wanted on as a gift and asked the person standing at the display to if he could "toss me a George Foreman Grill", guess what he not only toss it, he THREW it at me - good thing I have quick reflexes.

I and many others will be educating others on the dangers of China made Jerky Treats.

I plan on being done with holiday shopping before Black Friday. DH and I usually ride the motorcycle out in the country,while everyone else is in the city. Or we go out to lunch,only looking at the mall parking lot as we pass.

I hide in my house all day long on Black Friday. No way no how will I go out and face the crowds!!! I think you people are nuts for doing it!! :eek::eek::p:D But I am very lucky. I have a friend who LOVES it and will pick up any of the sale items for me if I want them! Happy shopping to you all!!

I never do Black Friday. There's nothing I want that bad to wait in those lines. Once my cousin told me she was gonna wait in line for a goose down comforter for $40, so I gave her $40 and told her to get one for me too. Heh heh.

Rolls eyes. . . . . I heard Walmart is going to start black Friday on Thursday. . . . Wtf don't they care about their employees. I guess not. Pisses me off.I think people should boycott Walmart on thanksgiving. If no one shows up then they will lose money! So is target and Kmart

I heard Target wasn't doing "Black Friday" this year! There has been so much flak about everyone opening on Thursday now that they opted to have regular store hours. But that is only what I heard, it could be TOTALLY off base! You know how rumors are... LOL!

Oh I can relate. lol I hate shopping any day of the week, but BF sounds like my idea of hell. Now BF internet shopping, that I could do.:D

LOVE Black Friday!!!! :D I think half of the reason I go is because it's so entertaining! I peruse around and watch the way people can be so generous OR catty to eachother. It can be hilarious. And I actually make new BF friends. :D It's the only time of the year that I don't mind the lines and the crowds. My kids love it too. They use their cell phones and while everyone is waiting in line for their "item" they play their own version of hide-n-seek throughout the store. ;) :D :p For the most part people in Hawaii are very generous and friendly esp. during Black Friday.

That is exactly what I thought. They're opening at 8pm Thanksgiving day. That's terrible. Last year when Target opened at midnight I heard some employees complaining about it. They don't care even if they get overtime, they want to spend time with family and relax, and I don't blame them.

That's what I heard too!

I always go out with my sister on Black Friday..this year I have to work..boo hoo...She will pick up the deals for me though..
My funniest Black Friday story is...
I went to Kohl's to get the comforter my daughter wanted. It was Down filled and was about 50 dollars off! I saw just the color she wanted and it was just out of my reach in a huge box...so I reached...and reached..and fell in the damn box...LOLOL I was horrified!!! I still cringe when I think about it. :eek:

It is more or less a tradition for my best friend and I, we get all comfy in our sweats with just our ID, CWP, credit cards and of course our guns load up in whoever husband has the largest truck that year and make sure to bring my handicap parking pass lol

i've noticed the deals are better the weeks leading up to black friday ONLINE so sometimes i just shop there. i do go out once a year tho with my best friend on black friday just to get out and have fun with her. not sure this year with having a little one to tote around if we'll do much. might go toy shopping for fun not for freaking out over toys or anything.

I've been boycotting them for years! Why pay good money for cheap stuff made in china and crappy customer service???

Some people will be educating others stuck in line about tainted pet treats Made in China! I will not be purchasing a thing from Walmart but will be there educating others :D

Unfortunately, the 2 closest walmarts to me are predominately Hispanic shoppers, and I don't speak Spanish.

Besides, I'd rather sleep than stand in line. I can go hunting, shoot and skin a deer, and go back to deer camp and take a nap all before the black Friday shoppers even get through the checkout lines, and still get to sleep in.

I saw on the news this morning that Walmart is marking up their flat screens 17% and Tickle me Elmo 34% (or vise versa) for black Friday. Other stores were acting similarly. Those who are shopping then be sure to do your research first :rolleyes:

Im going to try again to convince hubby to get a new washer & dryer this year!!!! Last year he let me LOOK, then told me we were not getting one until we got the water softening system installed. We did that this past July, so I'm hoping this year we can finally get new ones. I want a top loader washer without an agitator. My little bro has LGs ones that are awesome!

I feel sorry for the employees who have to leave their family get-togethers and go to work Thanksgiving night for shoppers' convenience - those who want to sleep in Friday morning! What is wrong with waiting a few more hours until Friday so those people can spend as much time as possible with their kids, mom, dad, grandparents, etc.?

Shoppers only expect it because stores keep getting earlier & earlier. I remember when I was like 20 years old, (16 years ago now!) My Dad and I used to get up at 4am, get ready, go out, get coffee and hit up the stores at 5am when they opened on Friday. That was so fun for us. If you wait until 5am now-a-days, you'll miss all the 'good sales'. Thats the STORES, not the shoppers faults. Last year getting out at midnight to stand in FREEZING cold 1/2 mile long lines outside a store for 5 hours because they are going to have ipod touches on sale for $195 but only a limited supply was not fun and not very convenient for us. LOL I would have gladly waited until 5am for 'good sales' again!

But if no shoppers came, they wouldn't do it. I heard so many say they were going to shop Thursday night into the wee hours so they could sleep in Friday as long as the stores were opening that night. Still, I know you are right - the stores want the $ from the extra hours shopping and the employees can make do or lump it. So, those in retail just lump it. Maybe they'll get overtime or something.
