:leaf::pilgrim2:I've been watching QVC Gourmet Holiday this afternoon & dying for the flavors of the season. Can just smell the fireplace smoke, baking turkey and desserts!!! They are showing all different types of things to eat for Thanksgiving from the hickory smoked turkey, Junior's Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake(Graham Cracker Crust, Pumpkin Pie filling on top of that, then the New York cheesecake section - very thick - and then a Pumpkin Moose Topping with Swirls). It looks so goooood. Also dying for a great piece of Pecan Pie. But most of all, I want some delicious, moist fresh turkey, with my dressing, giblet gravy, crescent rolls, cranberry sauce and all the dessert I can find. :pilgrim:

Am thinking of going ahead and decorating early for Christmas this year and eating Thanksgiving Dinner by the light of the Christmas Tree, lighted wreaths and candles. Mmmmm. Can't wait. :turkey::happythx:

hehe it is such a wonderful day!! we are going home so i will miss my mom's cooking but it will be great just the same. hope yours if fabulous! btw now you gots me hungry. lol

I'm so dying for a piece of that Fudge right now!!! We usually have Fantasy Fudge only at Christmas but since we're maybe having an extended Christmas Season this year by decorating early, the Fudge might be here for Thanksgiving. It is so expensive to buy it from someone who really makes it right and beats it very well before pouring to set up, that it will often price you out of having it both holidays. When my sister and her husband made it each year for the family, her husband, Bill, would sit in front of the fire and beat the fudge forever as my sister hovered and kept checking it! It was so smooth and creamy from all that beating. Then, they always got the very finest gourmet marshmallow creme and pecans they bought special for the Fudge recipe. Wow, their Fantasy Fudge was so fine!!! Once they stopped making their Fudge, I had to find a source who used a similar recipe. My last year's supplier is gone so now I'm busy trying to find another. I'm running out of time to get it for Thanksgiving.

I'm thinking of huge Cranberry Walnut Muffins, super-cold Sunny Delight and a new blend of gourmet Kona coffee for Thanksgiving breakfast. Have to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade while eating breakfast.

I can't beat it like that! I don't have the heavy, heavy stainless steel with copper bottom very deep stock pot to cook the mixture in either. My sister paid a king's ransom for the huge, deep stock pot they cooked the fudge in. It was beautiful and so heavy you could barely lift it when empty. And she had a gas stove - I don't. Candy makers all seem to agree you can't really properly cook fine candy using electric as it gets too hot or not hot enough during the cooking. I don't really know if it's true but so many say it, they have made a believer out of me. I guess I'll just keep looking. I found a lovely little shop that described their Fantasy Fudge technique, etc., in Dallas but when I called to get exact directions, their phone was disconnected. Bah humbug!

Yes... I am SO ready!!!! Mmmm I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!!!!!!!

oh boy that stinks...hopefully youll find a replacement before we need to find you a fantasy fudge rehab!! hehe u can always come make it at my house...i have a gas stove! sorry no kings ransom stock pot sadly!

And when you get the chance, do you watch "The Miracle on 34th Street" sometime during the day or night of Thanksgiving despite the football games?

I have Thanksgiving every year but my kitchen pipe burst and did mega damage. I have no kitchen, dining room and the finished basement was also damaged. My daughters are in the process of moving so? I have about 20 people. I am sure it will all work out but I am so going to miss being the hostess this Thanksgiving!

You can do make-do in your living room or den with turkey take-out and candles for aroma and a few appropriate decorations. We had to do that the year I murdered my stove during a cleaning session!

Trying to find Tibbe a special little Thanksgiving kerchief to wear for Turkey Day. Even a fall-looking one would be good. Going to try to shop for one this afternoon.

Anybody know an online site for ordering good-every-time Fudge? Doesn't even have to be Fantasy Fudge - just true Fudge and not some microwaved-recipe kind.

NO. :( BUT.....Thanksgiving is my FAVORITE holiday! :) This is my first year we won't be hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house. But we are going to try and have a huge Christmas get together.

Having an orthopedic prob. recently so finally giving up and calling some restaurants to see about ordering turkey-dinner take-out as I know I'm not going to be up for cooking for long hours. I want the kind sent home hot, ready to dish up, not that comes in a big box & has to be heated. I'll no doubt still be tired from decorating for Christmas this weekend or Monday on top of that. Anybody know of a good restaurant that does this that really produces an actual good meal with real turkey and not frozen turkey breast roast meat or purchased rolls, etc., ?

It is pretty cold now in North Texas so it is feeling like Thanksgiving and Christmas are really coming!

Is there a lot of TV, radio, newspaper reporting and seeing so much damage and suffering linked to Sandy partly behind that since you live in New York?

Thanks for asking We were very lucky. We have a bunch of trees down but none damaged the house. But talking to my friends and trying to deal with all the damage just doesn't put me in that spirit.

We had to do Thanksgiving in ICU waiting room one year and Cracker Barrel had a good dinner package, not sure if they do it anymore or not since my family no longer does Thanksgiving since that year really.

My Husband and I are working alot before and after Thanksgiving so we are ordering our meal from Bob evans and I am going to make sweet potatoes and peanut butter fudge. If I dont work on Thanksgiving we are going to go run a 5K thanksgiving morning

Oh, I imagine that is so true. It is so hard to see friends and family - people we love - going through hard times and dealing with so much trouble. It really is a kick in the gut that this storm came so close to times when most are in their warm homes, celebrating, happy and so many others are cold, in the dark, worried about the future and unhappy. I'll bet you are feeling so low.

ICU Thanksgiving. Oh, that sounds really awful yet you did what you could to uphold tradition and give everyone involved a little something good to experience. Hope the patient felt like participating a little bit at least. :)

There is a pumpkin pie ad just above what I am typing and I am starving for a good thick slice! I almost always have a slice of pumpkin pie for Thankgiving morning breakfast but I found those wonderful muffins at the bakery for this year. Maybe I can have half a sice of pie and half a huge muffin! Boy, am I ready for lunch today. Breakfast is looooong gone.

Am so sore from cleaning yesterday and rearranging furniture and moving the Christmas tree from one place to another - can barely move this morning without muscles screaming. It's 9:00 a.m. and I'm still sitting here on the couch and still sipping coffee and waiting for something to kick me into action. Much, much, much to get done today!

Rather jealous, I was sooo excited to get a tree last weekend so we drove around everywhere and nobody had live ones for sale yet :( I have to get mine this Saturday but I think I will start attempting to make my ornaments tonight.

Oh, tell us more! What kind do you make and do you do new ones every year? I\'ve never made an ornament in my life except in school. Love watching the craft shows that show women how to make them!
