I just cant imagine how bad it was in those areas directly affectes. Its so windy here My Husband was almost in a car accident and we are in Indiana. We were supposed to do some fund raising for leukemia outside a walmart today and had to cancel because of the wind |
my family seemed to do OK, personally but have not ventured out to see what the area is like, but my sister has severa friends that now how ruined homes from the water in the great south bay (long island) or town is right on the ocean side of Long Island. |
I know LI well my family is there too. They don't have power. About 90% of LIPA customers did not have power this morning |
Has anyone heard from Carmen? |
1 Attachment(s) Well, our boat is still here, but now the pier is gone! (just submerged) This is not bad. The last hurricane, we had 3-4 ft more water on top of this! Attachment 376561 |

I was seeing on TV how alot of people are already starting to get testy about not having electric, running water, etc....y'all need to try to calm down....the enormous amount of damage that was sustained all throughout the area, is going to present some really huge logistic issues, getting services in there to you......you still have flooded streets, etc....all of us that have lived thru Katrina and Ike understand how distressed you are....I sat here without electricity for 2 weeks, no phone service for a week, and my house only partially standing on the inside.....and we had no flooded streets around here with Ike....this is just what happens with hurricanes when they are huge and destructive.....please try to remain positive and calm...it hasnt even been a week yet, and I am afraid it is going to be much longer! |

A lot of NJ does not have power. I hope she is ok just no power |
So much of NJ is powerless, I'm just sure Carmen is one of those. Does anyone know if she lived especially near the water or anything? Weren't those the only homes that were really terribly damaged beyond repair in Jersey? I don't know enough about the topography to tell where all of the seriously damaged homes are but they do seem to be quite near or right on the water from the things the news is saying. Hopefully if she didn't live really near the beach, she's just out of power, with no or very little flooding and is waiting for wattage and then some pumping. I just pray she and the doggies and family are all safe and sound and grumpy. Grumpy from the dark, the cold, the isolation and the running out of things! Grumpy can be good - it means you are doing well enough to complain!!! |
As of 35 mins ago 100% of her town had no power |
