Anyone do the new io6 update yet?
 
The night before it launched I had problems accessing wifi where earlier in the day it was fine. I'm worried the update won't do anything but give me hassles like all updates always do for me. Anyone do it yet on the new iPad?

Did it for my iPhone with no problems.... I like it. :)

I'm waiting on the 5 to get here, but in the mean time I figured I'd update it anyways and check it out, and no issues w/ wifi or anything.

My bro owns a AT&T store and he says the iPhone 5 is just eh. Didn't really give specifics but nothing wowed him I guess.

Does it auto update?

My daughters ipad doesn't seem to be having any issues but we didn't do any ipdates I'm aware of either.

It doesn't auto update. I only had issue w the wifi in the few hours before the io6 update was official. That was the only thing my brother could think it was. I was able to access wifi just fine in the same location hours earlier. Even did reset power off.

Actually, it could access wifi bit would only bring me to the apple website with no address bar on top so I could only surf on the apple site :rolleyes: I even tried calling apple support and said I would have to buy support for $19.99 each use unless I already had the extended care. I ended up clicking on the find store locations so I was going to actually go down to a store and ask the , when lo and behold I clicked the find locations link and I was able to access everything.

Everything is working just fine now.

I upgraded it on my iPad 2 last night-no problems. I'll update on my iPhone today. I have ordered the new iPhone 5 because I still have an old slow G3S

Okay my daughter just explained this to me, all I heard was the abd123 needed def456.78blah blah...we dont have 4g avalible in our area but when she goes places that do do shell get it....I'm glad at 13the my daughter speaks techno fluently lol and I have a mini tech support here as in totally just handibg her the gadgets!

Seriously all I found out is I'm now old...

It SUCKS!!!! Does anyone know if I can switch back to the old iOS?? I hate, hate, hate that apple keeps adding useless apps that I can't even remove. It's eating up my memory. I also use the map app a lot when looking for services for the families I work for. I tried to give a family info on a service nearby, but couldn't remember the cross streets. I went to my trusty iPhone only to find out the new map app is unusable. :mad: I'm in LA, put in a LA address and it kept sending me to Hisperia (40-60 miles away). Ugh.... I hope it's true that google is trying to release their own map app. I'd buy that in a second!

I updated both iPad and iPhone to io6, no problems with either in 2 days, though I haven't used every possible app yet. Still not sure what all was updated, but glad that the things I do use work perfectly.

One of biggest gripes that I have read online so far is the maps. Since apple and google are severing ties, apple had to come out with their own map app and fast. Apparently this is what they came up with. I don't use my iPad for maps unless I'm linked in with wifi. Then in that case I guess I could just go to the actual google map site and use it that way. For navigation I use my android phone.

I'm thinking about upgrading.

I'm updating right now... So I haven't tried it yet. I have no plans to get the iPhone 5. My 4 is working great for me :D I don't see the benefit to upgrading just to have the newest version.

That's what I'm thinking. I only have the iPad. I don't have an iPhone. I just got the iPad. Why is there an update already lol. But I hear this Suri is smarter this time.

Ill upgrade once my iPhone 4 is dead. Not looking forward to havin to listen to Siri's annoying voice anytime soon.

You don't have to use Siri if you don't want to.

I update both iPads and my iPhone. Have messed with the Sirus a little. Did change some of my apps. But so far no issues I hope they figure the maps out I do like using them when I travel.

I'm the kind of clutz that will accidentally activate Siri all the time. As it is, I hit the home button twice all the time, and I have no idea I'm doing it until the play button pops up at the top of my screen. I'm technologically challenged. :(

I have updated both my iPad2 and iPhone 4S and LOVE the updates. If you have issues trying to download them, it's because the "waves" are so busy during the evenings (especially) with everyone trying to download the iOS6 update. It will time you out more than once. If you can download during the day, you're better of . Just because you get a phone with Siri doesn't mean you have to use her but she is a pretty smart and FUNNY woman. She can come up with some really off the wall responses, depending on what you ask her. I didn't see many new apps with the release but saw a lot of improved functionality with the iOS update. LOVE LOVE the enhancements on the camera and emails. MAPS worked fine for me when I needed it to get me somewhere. It wasn't a straight shot, but it would have gotten me there maybe a couple minutes later that what I'd planned. I get every iOS update that comes out and have never had any issues. Best of luck to those with issues or message me and I'll be glad to answer your questions if I can.

Still can't figure out how to use Siri. I double clicked the home button and it just brought m e back to the the swipey screens. wth?

you can disable Siri if you wanted to. She doesn't have to be turn on lol.

i for one love the new iOS 6...there will always be something that you don't like about new updates but then of course there will be things that "wows" you. i am a tech geek and there was quite a few things that "wowed" me lol

Siri is only available on the newest iPad.... Not the original or the ipad2, even with the updated software.

And I don't double click, I hold down my home button to get in touch with her.

Can you tell I'm just not into all the new technology? I just want something that works. Why mess with it if its working fine? If I wanted an update, I'd buy the latest and greatest phone, computer, tv.... You get the idea. The old iOS worked fine. It gave me what I wanted, no, what i needed out of my phone, and now that function does not work. How am I going to direct needy families to the nearest food bank when work won't update their network (I think we're still running windows 95 :rolleyes:) I heavily rely on my phone to play that necessary role for me. Now it doesn't work. My 3G has been in and out since the update. It's just so frustrating. :(

I updated and like it. I have the 4g i think or 4gs

while dh was asleep i updated his 3gs. He was not happy. It changed his icon. He hates any change. He has only in the last 6 months started using his bank card at the check out instead of cash. We had to drag him kicking and screaming to online banking. He does not have the friend finder. My dd and i use it. So now i know if she is at home or not before i call.

I do have the ipad3 and when I finished updating it asked me if I wanted to use Suri and I said yes. No other mention of her since.

I like it so far. I'm happy there's finally a clock app for the iPad. That was long overdue. And watching my buddy in Europe use Apple maps (which I guess is the default over google maps here), I'm sold on iMaps. It may not be as powerful, but it's pretty and easy to use. Just like everything apple makes. :D

I hate Siri, turned her off after she couldn't map "Jones Street and 8th Street" for me in NY. She kept saying she couldn't find a business by the name. Yes, because it is an intersection in one of the best known cities on earth, SIRI. DUH.

Don't double click just hold the button down and it should pop up

So far the only difference I have seen is the clock! I read about the flyover maps, how can I access it?

After the update I can no longer log into yahoo mail! I can log into yahoo but just not mail, and only on the iPad. I contacted yahoo and they said to use another browser. It's not the browser, it's the update!
