I am in Metairie a suburb next door to New Orleans. We are just getting our first real good band of rain it's alittle steady now. Still have power, it's not too bad yet. But their is more to come. Will try to keep posting. It's weird Quincy seems to bark at nothing with this storm. I'm assuming ( boy I don't like that word) its because of pressure change. Am I crazy? |

Be safe and good luck! |
Stay safe everyone. I'm thinking about you and praying for you all in the path of the storm. |
It is said that some wild things and often even domesticate animals such as dogs sense real changes in the atmosphere and many react to those differences by barking and others act nervous or want to hide or escape. When a storm is coming here in North Texas, Tibbe will often bark and bark when he senses things in the atmosphere are changing and then he barks at the thunder and rain! Stay safe and keep us posted! Are you high up in case of flooding? |
Hope everyone in the storm's path has their dogs chipped, tagged and all their papers, I. D., health records, etc., all waterproofed, sacked and ready for an emergency. |
Keeping you all in it's path in my prayers. It is so slow moving...hoping it loses wind speed. |
I see just like with Katrina and my TV provider at the time, Direct TV has started a Hurricane Isaac Live, continuous coverage channel that is on 24/7. I remember back during Katrina, my cable carrier at the time also went live with a special channel for live continuous coverage. As I recall they switched between all the local channels that were on carrying live events or programming. Direct TV's current channel for coverage is Ch. 349 for those of you with that satellite provider. |
So far the rain has not been bad no water yet in my street but the pumps are still working . Thank god! But it is stalled now and water accumulates at my corner of the street because my house is 13 " lower than the houses around. Fingers are crossed (toes too)! The wind is howling hard to sleep Quincy is tunneled into my body. He's sound asleep! No more barking for now. Well let's see if I can try and get some sleep! |
I am in Baton Rouge, and we only have really bad winds right now..but my dogs are also right here literally on top of me!! This storm is more than a little unpredictable!! But, thankfully I still have power, but I am pretty sure I will lose it soon...but best wishes to you in Metarie and to anyone else on her that is in the path of Issac!! |
Such a cliche...but we are literally in the calm before the storm ...for the time being at least.... |
So far I've been lucky with power. Earlier it blinked a few times but stayed on. Good luck to you in Baton Rouge! Rain is pretty bad right now. Not sure about the wind I can hear it howling but I'm afraid to look outside. |
I just went outside with my dogs...still getting pretty good gusts of wind but still no rain and just really windy which I can't complain about at all!! They acted like they needed to get up and go out in middle of night which they NEVER do.....and I figured I should go ahead and get back up and take them out while there is no rain....bc once rain starts they refuse to go outside. But, I'm glad you still have power...I really hope everything continues to go well there, and I hope your street's pumps continue to efficiently work and keep the water out!!!! This is certainly a hurry up and wait game to see what happens!! |
I pray everyone is safe.. check back in when you can |

 I am hoping the storm has passed you by now and everyone is safe |
Well we woke this am the storm is still her wish it had somewhere to go! We lost the huge sycamore tree in front of my house. It looks like someone just laid it down in the street so it would not hit anything! Did not hear a thing last nite. Quincy didn't even bark, but I still have power! |
