Do you cook your bacon in the oven? I usually do mine in the microwave but I'm out of paper towels and the cars are already put up because we have severe storms coming. Sooo...I want to make bacon and eggs in the morning and I need a different way to cook the bacon but not on the stove top. I watched a video of how to cook it in the oven and it looked simple but I wanted to know if anyone has tried this or if this is how you normally cook yours? |
Can you borrow Paper towels from a neighbor? I've baked it before but it was so long ago I can't remember how I did it... sorry! Stay safe in the storm.... |
I fry mine... And sometimes make gravy. ... Like sausage gravy but with bacon. What storms? |

We're in the Midwest and several areas are getting bad storms tonight...I don't like storms but we really need the rain. |
I know what you mean...I hate storms too!!! What if you baked the bacon tonight and just warmed it in the microwave tomorrow? Stay safe! |

I just googled it... I thought I saw it took a long time but the recipe said 20 minutes in a 450 degree oven. Not so bad... |

I cook my bacon in the oven. To be honest, I tried it that way once, then never went back to frying it. I can do a whole lb. of bacon in a large jelly roll pan and don't have to stand and watch it all the time while it's cooking. And, it's always perfect. I do use 400 degrees, and cook it about 20 minutes, or to desired temperature. I do not angle my rack for the fat to drain, I just drain the bacon at the end of the cooking time. It's so easy this way. I do spray my pan with pam spray before cooking. |
So you just lay it on the pan after you spray it? |
oven cooked bacon I always cook my bacon in the oven at 450. No foil, or pam, just when it looks cooked the way you like, flip it over with tongs and continue to cook. When it looks like its cooked to your liking, take it out and drain off the grease. I lay it on paper towels, I guess you can use anything you have to drain it. I started cooking bacon like this for many years and never do it any other way. |
Well, now I'm definitely going to have to try this in the morning...I had no idea people actually cooked bacon in the oven until now. I guess I thought people either used the microwave or fried it in a skillet... Hmph...I'm not too old to learn something new after all :D |

Never cooked bacon in the oven, sounds interesting. I have cooked it in the microwave, but it takes too long. |
I cook it in the oven at 400 degrees I dont know how long I keep checking on it I want it perfect |
I've cooked bacon in the oven a couple of times...it was sooo easy, I didn't even need to turn it.....I've been wanting to try it sprinkled with some brown sugar and some pepper. |
I always cook bacon in the oven. It doesn't get so grease laden, and more importantly is stays FLAT! My mom taught me that method. She has been cooking bacon in the oven for 60 years. Maybe it's a midwest thing?? |

I cook Bacon in the oven. 1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees 2. Place bacon on ungreased non stick baking sheet 3. Bake for 8 minutes, remove sheet turn bacon and cook for another 8 minutes Watch the times, ovens all cook at a different rate (from my experience) |
I have it cooking now, on a wire rack over a jelly roll pan so we'll see how it goes. I like mine very crisp though so it might take a little longer...no wiggly bacon for me :tongue4: |
I'm sure you'll love it. It comes out really nice in the oven. I used to do it that way when I made a lot (5 kids) but now it's just my daughter at home, so I just pan-fry it. Speaking of bacon, I discovered Oscar Meyer SUPER thick cut bacon a few months ago. OMG it is SO good!:D Now I am spoiled and when they were out of it at the store, the other bacon (that was just fine before:laugh: ) tasted like poo:p |
